Kwang stood alone on the basketball court, dribbling the ball with practiced ease. This is the only thing that brings me peace, he thought. The sun was setting, casting a warm glow over the court and illuminating the sweat glistening on his skin. He was lost in the rhythm of the game, his mind focused solely on the swish of the net as the ball sailed through the hoop. Fuck yes! As he played, Kwang couldn't help but think about his life and how much it had changed. He remembered the days when his father was a loving provider and his mother was a doting caregiver. Those memories seemed like a lifetime ago, now replaced by the harsh reality of his abusive father and the constant struggle to fit in at school. Suddenly the sound of approaching footsteps broke Kwang's concentration. He looked up to see a group of popular kids walking towards him, their faces twisted in mocking grins. Kwang's heart sank as he recognised the leader of the group, a boy named Min-joon, who had been bullying him for months. Min-joon sauntered up to Kwang, his eyes glinting with malice. "Hey, loser," he sneered, "what are you doing here? Don't you know this court is for real players?" Kwang's grip on the ball tightened, his knuckles turning white, shit... He knew what was coming, but he couldn't bring himself to leave. This court was his sanctuary- the one place where he could forget about his troubles and just play. Min-joon's friends circled around Kwang, their laughter echoing across the court. Kwang's heart raced as he braced himself for the inevitable confrontation. He knew he was no match for them physically but he refused to let them see him cower in fear.

The next day - Kwang slumped into his seat in English class, his body aching from the bruises inflicted by both the bullies and his father's fists. He winced as he shifted in his chair, the movement causing a sharp pain to shoot through his ribs. I can't believe he called me weak, Kwang thought bitterly, his eyes downcast, as if I wanted this to happen. They think they're so fucking superior, Kwang thought, his jaw clenching, but they're just shallow, spoiled brats who get off on putting others down.
