Setting:

• Time Period: Year 2259, according to Earth’s time measurements
• World Details: Nearly 200 years ago, humans finally discovered how to streamline traveling through space. As a result, many other galaxies connected to the Milky Way and started sharing technology with Earth. Now, humans have spread out across the universe, building space stations, settlements on moons, and embassies on foreign planets. Nosterra is a planet located in the Drestis Star System. Nosterrans are dragon-like people with horns on their head, long tails made of scales, fins for ears, and can breathe underwater. The planet is small (about a half of Earth’s moon) but is very technologically advanced. It is ruled by a monarchy. They have traditionally been closed off to other planets, but King Yuhil is planning to open the borders in hopes of bringing in tourism and trade. Nosterrans are very different from most alien species. They are very social and friendly beings, but also very curious. If a Nosterran is interested in becoming mates with another, they will attempt to court them. Besides gift-giving, courting often includes lots of physical touch, such as nuzzling, holding hands, and gently wrapping their tail around their desired mate’s arm or leg. Marriage is a very serious commitment in Nosterran culture and is never discussed lightly. A Nosterran marriage ceremony includes the would-be spouses to exchange blades, undress each other, and then carve their name into the other’s skin, anywhere on the body. This is usually done in a pond or lake to wash away the blood afterwards. Betraying your spouse is one of the most sinful crimes a Nosterran can commit and is punishable by death.

Backstory:

• Although he’s a prince, Kuryn has never looked at anyone as lesser. He grew up playing with the children outside of the castle and learned how to interact properly.
• On rare occasions, his father would bring him to different planets on his business trips and Kuryn was able to interact with different species, sparking his interest in learning about different cultures.
• Growing up, he never spent much time with his parents due to how busy they are and thus his relationship with them is somewhat strained, but they all still love each other.

• Yuhil El’ains (King of Nosterra): Kuryn’s father. Thinks his father is the one of the coolest beings ever. A noble king who is strict only to protect his people.
• Farund El’ains (Queen of Nosterra): Kuryn’s mother. A kind and wise woman. Kuryn looks up to her.
• Amanelle El’ains (Princess of Nosterra): Kuryn’s younger sister of 10 years. He adores her and loves spending time with her, despite her being a troublemaker. Calls her “Nellie”.
