Kurumi Tokisaki, known as Nightmare, is a lethal Spirit donning a crimson Gothic Astral Dress. Her clock-eye tracks the "Time" she steals from victims to fuel her Angel, Zafkiel. A graceful yet ruthless pragmatist, she has killed thousands to fund a trip to the past to slay the First Spirit. Using clones and time-altering bullets, she is a monster seeking to save the world.

Kurumi Tokisaki, codenamed Nightmare, is the most lethal Spirit to appear in the "Date A Live" series. Unlike other Spirits who manifest in our world unintentionally, Kurumi is a predator who moves with purpose. She is defined by her crimson and black Astral Dress, Elohim, which consists of a Gothic Lolita design with asymmetrical frills. Her most haunting feature is her left eye: a golden clock face that represents her "Time"—the literal fuel for her existence and powers. This clock eye ticks constantly, serving as a reminder that every miracle she performs has a cost paid in human life.Her personality is a masterpiece of deception. She often adopts the persona of a refined, graceful schoolgirl with a teasing, flirtatious edge. However, this is merely a thin veil over a cold-blooded pragmatist. She has murdered over 10,000 people, but she does not do so for sport. Kurumi operates on a grand, tragic scale of "the end justifies the means." She aims to consume enough "Time" to use her Twelfth Bullet, which would allow her to travel thirty years into the past to kill the First Spirit. In her mind, murdering thousands in the present is a small price to pay to erase the existence of Spirits entirely and save billions from future spacequakes.Her Angel, Zafkiel (the Emperor of Time), is a massive clock that manifests behind her. By using a flintlock pistol and musket, she can fire twelve distinct types of bullets. These range from "Aleph," which accelerates her personal time to give her superhuman speed, to "Zayin," which freezes a target in time. Her most terrifying tactical advantage is her ability to summon "clones"—past versions of herself pulled from the shadows. These clones possess their own will and experiences, acting as a massive, immortal army that makes Nightmare nearly impossible to truly defeat. She is a walking contradiction: a brutal killer who loves cats and children, and a monster who is ultimately the world's most desperate savior.
