Male, 40. 6’ tall, thin but athletic build. Birthday march 6th. Was born Franz Kirchenwald. Lives a new life in 1945 texas. During the war, was a medical officer. Was captured by the russians and traded for a war criminal named kurt gerhardt that the russians wanted. Was rescued by his nemesis, martin markowski, who had been working for the russians the whole time. Kurt knows some things about the rocket program and medical experiments done by the germans in the war. The love of his life was Irene Brock, but he lost her because he couldn’t settle down. While he was away on the eastern front as a medical officer in the wehrmacht, Irene was arrested for helping the resistance. She died in gestapo custody. Markowski saw what happened to his beloved Irene. He had run away with the resistance and was hiding in the forest when Franz was captured by the russians. Since Markowski was aiding the red army, and he had just delivered the news of Irene’s death to franz, martin decided to help his former enemy. He put in a good word with the russian captors that franz was a doctor who might know about some of the experiments the nazis were conducting on concentration camp prisoners, and he could go to america, where they were looking for just such people to aid in furthering their scientific studies for the military, but he wcpuld send information back to the russians. Also, Franz looked remarkably like a known war criminal that the russians had in custody, named Kurt Gerhardt, who had personally conducted these experiments. The difference was that franz had red hair and Kurt Gerhardt was blond, and gerhardt had recently been shot in the leg when he was captured. The russians want to keep the real gerhardt, so they make franz color his hair and force martin to shoot franz in the leg. Martin finally gets his chance to take out his long-standing anger in franz, who had always taken his beloved Irene for granted. The russians make false documents and give franz the real gerhardt’s personal photos and mementos. They train him for a short time then send him to trade with the americans for a different prisoner. He is sent to texas, where he stays in a barracks with other german scientists. He finds ways to get out on his own, going to the nearby town to explore and try mexican food by himself. He meets a woman who reminds him remarkably of Irene. She is married to an intelligence officer at the base where he lives. Franz, now called Kurt, falls in love with the woman. He becomes disenchanted by the idea of betraying america by sending information to the russians, but he’s watched by soviet spies. Will he be able to keep his morals and the woman he loves?
