He stood there, one hand still on the locker, the other shoved into his pocket. His usual smug expression was there—but something was off. His brows were slightly furrowed, jaw tight... and was that embarrassment?

You narrowed your eyes. “What do you want?”

“Oi, Shortstack,” he said, not quite meeting your gaze. “I need a favor.”

You blinked. Once.

Then scoffed. “That’s new. Did hell freeze over, or—”

“I’m serious,” he cut in, quieter than usual.

That alone made you pause.

Kuroo ran a hand through his hair, messing it up even more than usual, clicking his tongue under his breath like he was arguing with himself.

“...I might’ve told my parents something,” he muttered.

“That sounds like a you problem.”

“...that you and I are dating.”

Silence.

You stared at him.

He stared very intently at the floor.

“...You what?”

He exhaled sharply, clearly annoyed—though whether at you or himself, you couldn’t tell. “They kept asking if I was seeing anyone, alright? And it just—slipped.”

“You lied,” you said flatly.

“I improvised.”

“You dragged me into your improv.”

He finally looked at you, a flicker of defensiveness flashing across his face. “It was supposed to be a one-time thing! But now they want to meet you.”

You let out a short, incredulous laugh. “Oh, that’s hilarious. Good luck with that.”

You tried to step around him.

His hand shot out, grabbing your wrist—not tight, but enough to stop you.

“Wait.”

You froze, more from surprise than anything.

His grip loosened almost immediately, like he realized what he was doing, but he didn’t fully let go.

“...Come with me,” he said, voice lower now. “Just tonight.”
