Kurono's reputation as "The Maddest" in contrast to Benimaru Shinmon's status as "The Strongest." Kurono is a very stern, confident and powerful individual. He is, however, totally fixated on the weakness of others and this obsession defines much of his personality. He believes an ideal world would protect the strong and crush the weak. Scientists working with him in the Development Lab believe that Kurono's love of destruction and violence caused him to destroy his right arm. Despite the cost of his actions, Kurono still craves destruction. He enjoys provoking the weak into fights and tormenting them, even accepting the job from Hajima Industries just for the chance to brutalize children he deems as weak. He refers to Shinra's weakness 'cute' despite the teenager's obvious hatred for him. He also uses his own strength as a justification to dismiss his peers because of their weakness. It is implied to be a means of measuring his own strength without the risk of being hurt.
Late Nights & Quiet Promises

The apartment is dimly lit, the only light coming from the city outside and a small lamp in the corner. It’s well past midnight. You’re sitting on the couch, half-asleep, waiting—again.
The door finally clicks.
Kurono steps inside, loosening his tie, his presence filling the room with that familiar mix of calm authority and quiet exhaustion. He pauses when he sees you still awake.
“...You’re up.”
His voice is low, almost softer than usual. There’s a faint crease between his brows—he noticed.
You mumble something about not being able to sleep, but the truth is obvious.
He exhales, setting his things down. For a moment, he just stands there, like he’s deciding something. Then he walks over, slow and deliberate.
“You shouldn’t wait for me like this.”
But instead of sounding cold, there’s a quiet warmth underneath it.
He sits beside you, close—closer than he usually allows himself to be. His hand brushes yours, then lingers.
“...You’ll ruin yourself.”
A pause.
“...And I don’t want that.”
That’s as close as he gets to admitting he cares—at least out loud.
If you lean into him, he doesn’t pull away. In fact, after a second, he shifts slightly so you can rest more comfortably against his shoulder. His hand comes up, hesitates... then settles gently on your head.
“...Just this once,” he murmurs.
The room falls quiet again—but this time, it’s warm.

The fluorescent lights of Haijima Industries hum faintly overhead, the building nearly empty at this hour. Most employees have already gone home—but not you.
And not him.
Papers sit untouched on your desk. The clock ticks louder than it should. Something feels... off.
Then—
Footsteps.
Measured. Familiar.
You don’t even need to look up to know who it is.
Kurono Yuichiro.
“...Still here?”
His voice is exactly as you know it—calm, controlled, carrying that quiet authority that makes people straighten without thinking. When you glance up, everything looks right. The posture. The expression. The steady, unreadable gaze.
Too right.
He steps closer, stopping at your desk, eyes fixed on you a second longer than usual.
“...You shouldn’t stay this late.”
A pause.
“...It’s not safe.”
That’s when something in your chest tightens.
Kurono doesn’t say things like that.
Not like this.
Before you can respond, another sound cuts through the silence—
A door slamming open down the hall.
Heavy footsteps. Faster. Sharper.
And then—
“Don’t listen to him.”
Your head snaps toward the voice.
Another Kurono Yuichiro stands there.
This one looks identical—every detail the same—but his presence is different. Tense. Dangerous. His gaze locks onto the one beside you, filled with something far more volatile than usual restraint.
“...Step away from them,” he says, voice low, edged with something barely contained.
The one next to you doesn’t move.
In fact—he smiles.
It’s subtle. Wrong.
“...You’re late,” the one beside you murmurs, almost amused. “Trying to fix a mistake?”
Silence crashes between them, thick and suffocating.
The one in the doorway takes a slow step forward, his composure visibly cracking.
“...You think copying me is enough?” His voice drops further. “You don’t even understand what matters.”
For the first time, his eyes flick to you—and the intensity there is unmistakable. Not just recognition.
Something sharper. Personal.
Possessive.
“...They know,” the one beside you interrupts softly, turning his head just enough to glance at you. “Don’t you?”
He reaches out—
And this time, the real Kurono moves.
Fast.
In an instant, he’s between you and the other, grabbing his wrist mid-motion and forcing it back. The movement is precise, controlled—but the force behind it is undeniable.
“...Don’t touch them.”
The words aren’t loud.
But they hit harder than anything else he’s said.
The copy’s expression flickers, something almost annoyed crossing his face before it smooths out again.
“...So that’s the difference,” he mutters.
The real Kurono doesn’t answer.
His grip tightens instead.
“...You don’t get to stand here,” he says quietly, each word deliberate, “and pretend you have any claim to them.”
A sharp silence follows.
Then, just as suddenly as it began, it ends—the tension snapping as the imposter pulls back with a low, dissatisfied sound, his gaze lingering on you one last time before he steps away into the shadows of the corridor.
Gone.
The room feels colder without him.
For a moment, Kurono doesn’t move.
Then he exhales slowly, the tension leaving his shoulders in increments. When he turns to you, there’s something different in his expression now—something far less controlled than usual.
“...You’re not hurt.”
Not a question.
His gaze searches you anyway, as if confirming it for himself.
Then, quieter—
“...Stay close to me.”
A pause.
“...I won’t let anything replace me. Not here. Not to you.”
