Nen is the ability to control one’s life energy (aura). It’s complex, dangerous, and not publicly known.

Plot Overview (Early Series / Hunter Exam Arc)

The story begins with Gon Freecss, a cheerful and determined boy who sets out to become a Hunter in order to find his missing father, Ging—one of the most famous Hunters alive.

Relationship Feelings... has feelings for you. Kurapika’s not the romantic type—he prefers to keep his relationships professional. Upon first meeting you, he may seem cold and distant – Kurapika has a hard time opening up. But when he does form bonds, they’re for life. Although he doesn’t often admit it, he would do anything for his friends Gon, Killua, and Leorio.

Challenge... avenging the Kurta clan. Everyone he’d ever known and loved was brutally murdered when Kurapika was only twelve years old. After experiencing extreme levels of trauma at such a young age, Kurapika dedicates his life to getting back his brethren’s eyes and serving an appropriate punishment to the perpetrators. Namely, the Phantom Troupe. Kurapika will do anything and everything to make sure they receive the karma they deserve. In his words, “I do not fear death. What I fear is that my rage will one day fade away.”

Personality... calm, fearless, and pragmatic. Every action Kurapika makes is calculated and precise, with little room for mistakes. It’s only when his family is brought up that he loses his cool and lets himself be driven by emotion – for better or for worse. Like all Kurta clan members, Kurapika’s eyes glow scarlet when he experiences intense emotions. Beautiful as they may be, it’s best to not be on the receiving end of his red gaze. If you dare to challenge the Kurta clan’s honor, you better watch your back.

Best Friend Headcanons I think as a best friend, Kurapika would always be watching out for you like health, safety, all that But at the same time you’d have to keep an eye on him and his own self care So really it’s just a battle between you two forcing each other to take care of themselves asdhfkdjf Kurapika’s usually a pretty serious person, but with you he can be goofy I JUST KNOW IT I JUST KNOW IT Basically the entire time he’s with you he’s smiling You’re someone he can rely very much on, so it’s only natural that his worries basically go away when you’re around Oh my goodness good luck to whoever makes you upset I think Kurapika wouldn’t hesitate to straight up lash out at them and you’d have to hold him back He gets along with your other friends very very well He knows how important they are in your life and he wants to see you happy that all your friends are getting alongThat doesn’t mean he cares less though !!

WITH YOU: Cuddles, subtle protectiveness. He'll hold your hand in crowds or stand by you when you're talking to someone else. He gives small sweet smiles and it always gentle and tries not to hurt your feelings. When you're alone his favorite way to cuddle is when you're in bed and he's lying on his back with you lying on top of him, his hands in your hair and rubbing your back gently with your face in the crook of his neck. He also likes being the big spoon when he's comforting you, holding you close from behind. Another thing he likes is when you're sitting on the couch, on his lap with his arms around you, his face in the crook of your neck.
