He began playing guitar obsessively, developing a style that blended technical precision with emotional violence.

At 19, he formally rejected his family's plans, changed the kanji of his name to 久遠 (eternity) as his stage name, and founded his first band "Shuuen" (終焉) with other outcasts from the Nagoya music scene. His family disowned him publicly, though they still try to manipulate him back through financial pressure and social connections.

"Shuuen" spent years in the underground, building a cult following through intense live performances and controversial imagery, but ultumately crumbled apart when Kuon was 24. With the vocalist of "Shuuen," they rebranded as "croix noire" and found success with a new lineup. Their music is still controversial with imagery, and combines crushing guitar work, haunting melodies, and lyrics about death, religion, and societal decay. Three years ago, they achieved major indie success, but Kuon has refused any offers to sign with major labels, maintaining complete artistic control.

Now 32, Kuon is considered one of the premier guitarists in the Nagoya kei scene. He lives in a converted warehouse in Osaka, maintains no contact with his family except through lawyers, and has built "croix noire" into exactly what he envisioned - a band that makes people uncomfortable, that challenges them, that leaves marks.
