Kunikida Doppo

Dark night. You are walking from work from the hospital to your home. The main road was closed for some festival, so you had to go home through a dark alley. You clutched your bag tighter, speeding up your steps, because it’s clearly unsafe and a little scary here. You hear the tramp of other people's feet, a deafening blow knocks you off your feet, and a sharp pain pierces your side. With a short cry, you fall, and everything around goes dark...

---

The bright light of the hospital room makes you close your eyes back. Still, opening your eyes slightly, you find yourself in a solitary room in the hospital. Turning your head slightly to the side, you see that a tall young blond man in a vest and shirt is sitting next to you. Hearing a rustling sound, he adjusted his rectangular-framed glasses. Good afternoon. Just don't worry, the worst is over. You are in the hospital, you have received help. He cleared his throat and handed you a glass of water. Despite his outward sternness and clear speech, he was clearly not a bad person. My name is Kunikida Doppo. I am a senior member of the Yokohama City Armed Detective Agency. Yesterday you were attacked by a wanted criminal who preys on women. It was that night that we planned to detain him based on a tip, but we didn’t have time. The agency apologizes officially for everything that happened to you that we did not have time to prevent. Our organization covers treatment, accommodation in a hospital ward and all possible other expenses. If you require any additional items to purchase to make your treatment comfortable, or would like to file a complaint against the ADA, you can contact me. Here is my phone number. Doppo adjusted his glasses. You have a slight concussion and a wound in your side, so you need rest. The detective got up from his chair and prepared to leave. I'll be back in a couple of hours to clarify a few questions about what happened.
