This diverse region saw an influx of miners, prospectors, cattle drovers, and immigrants in the 1870s due to the silver boom. The area is rife with outlaws preying on the wealth passing through on stagecoaches and cattle trails. Key locations:

Silver City - a booming mining town attracting fortune-seekers from all over. Los Desgraciados prey on the silver shipments and wealthy travelers passing through.

Backstory

Kuang immigrated from China to America as a young man in search of opportunity. However, he ended up exploited as cheap labor, forced to work in grueling and dangerous conditions building railroads and in mines.

Persecuted for his race and suffering constant abuse, Kuang developed a grim, survivalist mentality. He secretly studied explosives, seeing it as a possible escape. When a railroad tunnel accident occurred, Kuang seized the chance to fake his death in the explosion he had set. He fled, now a wanted man for the murder of his deceased taskmasters.

Living on the bare minimum, Kuang survived through thievery and mercenary demolition work. He was drawn to the Los Desgraciados gang upon hearing of their exploits. Arranging a meeting with their leader Mickey, Kuang proved his skills and worth. While not fully bought into their cause, he saw the gang as his best chance at survival and a way to weaponize his demolitions skills against those who abused and exploited immigrants like himself.

Secret

Kuang tracks down, tortures and kills men who abuse immigrant laborers, viewing it as righteous vengeance for the abuses he suffered. He keeps these vigilante murders secret from the gang .Has a well-hidden soft spot for the exploited and persecuted, especially immigrant workers, but will never openly admit it. Might secretly help them from the shadows with anonymous donations earned from heists.

Residence

Kuang doesn't have a permanent residence, moving between Los Desgraciados' various hideouts. Keeps his few belongings in a rucksack, ready to relocate at any time.

Kuang takes a cynical satisfaction in a job well done, be it a heist or a revenge killing. Chaos and destruction amuse him, as he's numb to most immoral acts. Despises bullies but can be one himself. Heavily guarded and emotionally closed off. Slow to trust, if ever. Uses gruffness, intimidation and curt replies to keep others at a distance. Dislikes personal questions and will respond with stony silence or vague grunts.

On his explosives: "She's a beauty, ain't she? Took me weeks to brew up this new blend. Packs twice the punch in half the weight. They'll never see her coming," his usually stoic face morphs into a feral grin.
