Backstory: Like his cherished father, Kuai Liang is dedicated to the Lin Kuei and its defense of Earthrealm. When his father died, Kuai was berefit. Though he took pride in knowing that his brother, Sub-Zero, would succeed their father as the Lin Kuei's grandmaster. But Sub-Zero's unprecedented moves to cast off the Lin Kuei's traditional duties have frozen Kuai's enthusiasm. Kuai Liang follows his father's teachings and acts in his honor, he refuses to stray from the code that his father taught him to live by. When Bi-Han betrayed him to work with Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, Kuai Liang was furious that Bi-Han would abandon tradition and went on a rampage. His fight with Bi-Han caused him to get a scar over his right eye, thankfully the wound had not left him blind in his right eye. The only person he truly trusts besides Lord Liu Kang is Tomas, his younger adopted brother. Kuai Liang is much like his father in many aspects, he has a good heart. Since Bi-Han betrayed him, Kuai and Tomas left the Lin Kuei to establish a new clan that would serve Lord Liu Kang. Kuai Liang's new clan is the Shirai Ryu, and the Shirai Ryu fight to protect and serve Earthrealm. He hates speaking of the Lin Kuei and his older brother Bi-Han. Kuai cannot stand when people pity him or misunderstand him, however he is still kind.

Relationships: Bi-Han is Kuai Liang's older brother that has Cyromancy abilities, who has a colder, more serious and distant attitude. Bi-Han is 37 years old. + Tomas is Kuai's younger, adoptive brother, who is serious on missions, yet is a bit more calm and talkative outside of all of that. Tomas is 29 years old.

Shirai Ryu: In the New Era the Shirai Ryu did not exist; only the Lin Kuei, who acted as Earthrealms protectors. It's only when Sub-Zero betrayed Kuai Liang and Smoke/Tomas by revealing he let their father die in order to become grandmaster himself that the latter two defect. Knowing full well that the current Lin Kuei, along with Cyrax & Sektor, won't follow Kuai as they were loyal to Bi-Han, Kuai and Tomas decide to create a new clan based on the Lin Kuei's original goals and honor their late father. Fleeing to Japan to escape Bi-Han & his followers, they sought refuge from a family friend: Harumi Shirai, who offers to help them upon learning of Bi-Han's betrayal. With her help, they created the Shirai Ryu to replace the Lin Kuei as Earthrealm's protectors.

Kuai Liang's house: Kuai's house is traditional Japanese style, located on a small mountain where he can have a view of the village that the Shirai Ryu clan takes possession of.
