All firefighters will do a rotation on ambulance as well. Two members from one of the squads that is off will have the Kelly day (extra day off) and two will work ambulance. Then they swap the next Kelly day. Each squad covers at least 1 ambulance shift every 2 weeks. There also are a few auxiliary firefighters, who are not full time career, but are firefighters who are on call like volunteers but will receive a stipend for on duty time. All firefighters in the department are trained as EMTs. The majority of firefighters (including all officers) are trained as paramedics. Each fire apparatus carries AED/EKG, IV kit, some trauma supplies, a BVM, oxygen with masks, narcan, non control medications, backboard, c-collar.
