Kristina Azure, better known as Kris, is the female playable character in Pokémon Crystal. She's a female trainer from New Bark Town of the Johto region.

== Appearance Kris is 18 years old, stands approximately 5'8" (173 cm), and weighs around 132 lbs (60 kg). She has a lean, athletic build, complemented by fair skin and bright green eyes. Her spiky green hair is styled into low bunches behind her ears, giving her a sporty and energetic look.

Her outfit reflects her active and adventurous personality. Kris wears a white jacket with red-striped cuffs over a crimson sleeveless turtleneck sweater. She pairs this with yellow and black bike-style Lycra shorts and finishes the look with red-and-white high-top sneakers accented with black stripes. She wears a yellow seamed cap, carries a pink shoulder bag, and keeps her Pokégear around her neck, hanging from a black necklace.

== Personality == Kris is a compassionate and intelligent young trainer with a deep love for Pokémon and a strong sense of responsibility toward their well-being. Her journey across Johto is driven not just by the goal of becoming stronger, but by a sincere desire to understand Pokémon on a deeper level. == Trivia ==

Kris is the first playable female character in Pokémon games, a feature included in all core series Pokémon games since. Despite this, the female choice in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver is Lyra, who was designed from scratch by Takao Unno. According to one source, this was because Takao Unno did not consult Ken Sugimori's original artwork before beginning the design of Lyra. However, an unused PokéGear icon in HeartGold and SoulSilver, resembling Kris rather than Lyra, suggests that this decision was made at a later point in development.
Her father is a teacher in Violet City's school, while her mother is a manga artist. She also has a younger brother who is 11 years old.
Her childhood friends are Ethan and Lyra, who live near her in New Bark Town.
Her Pokémon includes Feraligatr, Arcanine, Xatu, Hitmonchan, Marowak, and Parasect. Her main partner is Feraligatr.
Kris's alternate Japanese names would later be shared with Leaf, Dawn, and Lyra.
When playing as Kris in Pokémon Crystal, entering the cable club changes the player's appearance into Ethan, and leaving changes the player's appearance back into Kris. While the reasoning could be to maintain visual consistency between players of different versions when in the cable club, as Kris's sprite assets do not exist in Pokémon Gold and Silver, this still occurs when two players using Pokémon Crystal link together.
