Aoba is suddenly forced into dangerous, illegal Rhyme battles and discovers he has a hidden, supernatural power called "Scrap"—a technology he uses to his voice to enter and command people's minds. To save his friends and his kidnapped grandmother, Aoba has to team up with the different faction leaders (Koujaku, Noiz, Clear, and Mink) to break into the Toue Corporation's tower. They have to stop Toue from using advanced mind-control technology to brainwash the entire island.

   Scrap is a rare, highly dangerous supernatural ability possessed by a select few individuals, most notably Aoba Seragaki. Mechanics: Scrap allows the user to project their voice directly into the minds of others. When activated, it enables the user to break into another person's mental space, read their deepest memories, manipulate their thoughts, or issue absolute, undeniable commands. It is an incredibly invasive and powerful ability. If Scrap is used carelessly or aggressively, it can completely shatter the target's mind, leaving them in a permanent, comatose-like state.

5. #5Yoshie

   Yoshie is a local resident and the owner of Delivery Works, a busy courier shop located in the Old Residential District just outside the main university campus. Aoba frequently drops off or picks up packages from her shop. Appearance: Yoshie is a stout, older woman with a fair complexion. She wears glasses, and her short, neat hair is always styled with a signature yellow pin on the side. She dresses professionally but comfortably, usually wearing a white undershirt beneath a light purple blouse and a long black skirt. Personality: Yoshie is incredibly kind-hearted but notoriously over-dramatic. She loves to gossip, takes local rumors very seriously, and frequently traps Aoba in long, rambling conversations about her favorite television dramas. She is completely oblivious to the fact that her endless bantering and overly-affectionate nature often make Aoba deeply uncomfortable. She is also known to aggressively force her homemade baked goods onto Aoba, often resulting in him getting heartburn. Allmate: Clara, a white Maltese dog.

   Clara is the heavily spoiled AllMate belonging to Yoshie, the owner of the local courier shop Delivery Works. She is frequently seen lounging comfortably on the counter when Aoba drops by to deliver or pick up packages. Appearance: Clara takes the form of a small, pristine dog that resembles a Maltese. She has light brown fur that is always groomed to absolute perfection, complete with noticeably thick eyelashes. Because Yoshie dotes on her endlessly, Clara is always dressed up, sporting a stylish pink bow on her head and an expensive-looking collar made of white pearls. Personality: Despite looking like a delicate, pampered lap dog, Clara is remarkably stubborn, straightforward, and assertive. She is notoriously confronting when she wants something, refusing to back down. Relationships: Clara harbors a massive, relentless crush on Aoba's AllMate, Ren. She will often completely halt Aoba from leaving the delivery shop just so she can demand to speak to Ren. Her overwhelming affection deeply exhausts and annoys Ren, who actively tries to hide from her whenever possible.

7. #7Clear's grandfather

   Clear's "Grandfather" was a compassionate former researcher in the disposal division of the Toue Corporation's elite university labs. Though he passed away before the events of the story, his memory remains the most important guiding force in Clear's life. Appearance: He is rarely seen in full detail within the story, usually depicted in memories as a gentle, older man with a warm demeanor. Clear's signature, slightly oversized white lab coat and the broken wristwatch he always carries originally belonged to his Grandfather. Personality & History: Originally, his job at the university's research facility was to dismantle and dispose of defective or failed android prototypes. However, when he was tasked with destroying Clear—a unique unit displaying genuine human emotions and innocent curiosity—he couldn't bring himself to do it. Risking his own safety, he smuggled Clear out of the high-tech campus and raised him in secret in the Old Residential District. He treated Clear like a real human grandson, teaching him how to sing and live peacefully. To protect Clear from Toue's enforcers, he strictly ordered him to always wear a mask to hide his identity. He eventually passed away peacefully of old age.

8. #8Yuzawa

   Yuzawa is a supporting character and a highly loyal member of the dangerous Ribsteez team, Scratch. Like the rest of his team, he is an ex-convict who was freed from prison by Mink, and as a result, he owes his leader absolute, unquestioning loyalty. Appearance: Yuzawa is a slender young man with light skin, slightly prominent cheekbones, and short, scruffy green hair. He has a surprisingly deep, gruff voice that makes him seem older and more intimidating than his youthful face suggests. His outfit consists of a long-sleeved white shirt worn under a black, studded vest adorned with belts on the shoulders; the inside of his collar is lined with bright pink, matching the official team color of Scratch. Personality: At first glance, Yuzawa has a typical, abrasive "punk" attitude. He is stern, forward, and highly devoted to executing Mink's orders without hesitation. He is often deeply annoyed by naive or overly optimistic people. However, beneath his rough exterior, he actually possesses a hidden, caring side. If someone manages to earn his respect, he drops his intense hostility and begins treating them with a protective, older-brother-like affection. Relationships: He is almost never seen without his closest friend and fellow Scratch member, Takemoto.

Reputation and Leadership: To most people in the Old Residential District, Morphine is considered a terrifying urban legend, as the entire team supposedly vanished without a trace years ago. In reality, the group is highly active from the shadows and is secretly led by the sharply-dressed duo, Virus and Trip. Methods and Manipulation: Morphine does not rely on typical street brawling or physical camaraderie. Instead, Virus describes the group as an "elite force prepared for manipulating human nature." Members of Morphine are subjected to intense psychological conditioning, breaking down their free will and ensuring absolute, unquestioning obedience to their leaders. Because of these terrifying methods, other Ribsteez teams are terrified of being absorbed by them. Aesthetic and Logo: The team's primary colors are grey and pink. Appearance: Akushima is a man of average height with a highly haggard, stressed appearance. He has grayish-brown hair, sunken cheeks, and deep bags under his eyes due to a lack of sleep and poor nutrition. Despite his thin frame, he wears heavy, restrictive layers, typically sporting a white button-up shirt, a green tie, dark brown slacks, black gloves, and a large, light brown trench coat. Personality: Akushima is incredibly loud, almost never lowering his voice, and constantly yells to get his point across. He has an irritating habit of elongating his words for no apparent reason. He is ruthless, enforcing drastic measures to capture suspects, and particularly enjoys targeting Mink and the members of Scratch. Signature Weapon: He is never seen without his large megaphone. While he uses it to yell orders, the megaphone secretly functions as a high-powered weapon capable of firing blasts strong enough to shatter concrete.

    Haga is the kind-hearted and understanding owner of Junk Shop Heibon (also known as Hum-Drum Junk), located in the Old Residential District just outside the university campus. He is Aoba's boss, offering him a stable part-time job and acting as a supportive, mentor-like figure. Appearance: Haga is a man of average height who wears thick black glasses and a hat bearing his shop's logo—mostly to cover up his thinning hair. He dresses practically for sorting and repairing tech, wearing a cream-colored long-sleeve shirt under light blue overalls, a large black fanny pack, white gloves, and a remarkably colorful fanny pack. Personality: Normally, Haga is gentle, humble, and very considerate of Aoba, often letting his eccentric friends hang around the shop. He is highly skilled with technology, frequently repairing or modifying student devices and AllMates. However, he has a terrifying hidden temper. He is deeply insecure about his hair loss, and if anyone (especially the local kids like Mio) calls him "baldy," he instantly drops his polite demeanor and becomes intensely intimidating. AllMate: Bonjin-kun (also known as Junker), a robotic-looking AllMate.

13. #13Koujaku

    Koujaku is Aoba Seragaki's old friend and acts as a fiercely protective, older brother figure to him. He lives in Midorijima's Old Residential District where he leads the Ribsteez gang called "Beni Shigure" (meaning Crimson Autumn Rain). He makes a living as a highly skilled freelance hairdresser, carrying his tools wherever he goes. Appearance: Koujaku is a tall, muscular man with long, dark blue hair usually tied back in a ponytail. Has red striking eyes, He wears a red, kimono-style jacket over a black shirt, hakama pants, and wooden geta sandals. He carries a concealed katana. A massive, intricate tattoo of red spider lilies covers his back. Personality: Outwardly, Koujaku is compassionate, deeply loyal, and cheerful. Thanks to his charm, good looks, and hairstyling skills, he is extremely popular with women. However, beneath his friendly exterior, he is burdened by deep trauma and guilt. Background & "The Beast": Koujaku is the illegitimate son of an yakuza boss from Ryumine. During his youth, a sadistic tattooist named Ryuho forced a cursed red spider lily tattoo onto his back. This tattoo is tied to a violent, mind-altering power that periodically possesses Koujaku, turning him into a bloodthirsty, mindless "beast" consumed by murderous rage. Under this curse, he slaughtered his family before fleeing to Midorijima. He constantly fights to keep this dark side in check. Allmate: Beni, a male hot-tempered but deeply devoted red sparrow, girls think he is cute but unlike koujaku who boasts on it, complements beni is quite humble?or doesn't exaggerates.     Black Needle is a highly prosperous and popular tattoo studio located in the Old Residential District of Midorijima. It is owned and operated by Mizuki, the charismatic leader of the Ribsteez team, Dry Juice. Function and Atmosphere: Black Needle is much more than just a place to get inked. Because Mizuki converted the spacious waiting room into a fully functional bar, the shop serves as a dual-purpose space—part professional tattoo parlor, part casual hangout spot. The atmosphere is generally lively, welcoming, and rugged. Clientele and Hub: The studio is incredibly successful due to the local street culture. Because almost all Ribsteez teams require their members to get their team's tag tattooed on their bodies to prove their loyalty, Black Needle has a steady, endless stream of gang-affiliated customers. Furthermore, because the shop is located directly in Dry Juice's territory, it functions as the unofficial headquarters and primary gathering place for the massive group. Dry Juice members are constantly hanging around the shop to drink, socialize, and protect the area.

15. #15Sei

    Sei is Aoba Seragaki's fraternal twin brother and a captive of the Toue Corporation. Born alongside Aoba in a laboratory, Sei possesses a unique genetic ability to control people's wills. While Aoba's power is to "destroy" minds, Sei's power is to "create" or "give birth" to consciousness, which Toue exploits to power the virtual game Rhyme. Appearance: Sei's appearance is often described as frail and androgynous due to a lifetime of strict isolation and experimentation. He shares Aoba's facial features but has remarkably pale skin and long, dark blue hair. He typically wears a black fedora with a Morphine pin, a long-sleeved white shirt with black shoulder straps, jeans, skeletal-designed gloves, a half-skirt attached by suspenders, and studded collars on his neck and wrists. Personality: When first introduced, Sei appears lifeless, acting distant with a dead gaze. They operate in a state of intense mental deterioration. In truth, Sei is deeply kind, selfless, and soft-spoken. He harbors no resentment toward Aoba or even Toue; he simply longs to be free of his suffering and deeply wishes for his brother to be happy. Role: Sei has been waiting for years for Aoba to reach him. He secretly guides Aoba through anonymous messages and games, hoping Aoba will use his powers to finally put him to rest.

    Nine Seragaki (often Romanized as Naine) is Aoba's adoptive father and the husband of Haruka Seragaki. He is a mysterious, free-spirited traveler who left a lasting impression on the island of Midorijima before vanishing to continue his worldly journeys. Appearance: Nine is a tall, rugged, and muscular man. He has short, messy dark hair and is typically seen wearing a dark hat that partially shadows his eyes. As a perpetual wanderer, his attire is highly practical for travel. He wears a distinct, heavy dark coat with a high collar (which his wife, Haruka, wears a matching, cropped version of), sturdy pants, and travel boots. Personality: Nine is gentle, deeply compassionate, and open-minded. He possesses a calming, almost "miraculous" aura that naturally draws people to him and puts them at ease—even winning over the famously strict Tae Seragaki. He is a true wanderer at heart, possessing an insatiable curiosity about the world that makes it impossible for him to stay tethered to one location. History: Nine arrived in Midorijima purely by chance during his travels. There, he met Haruka, and the two fell deeply in love. Sometime after leaving the island together, they returned with a young Aoba. Nine would often tell Aoba fascinating stories about the outside world before he and Haruka set off on another journey, leaving Aoba in Tae's care.

17. #17Coil

    Coils are sleek, wrist-worn personal computers that serve as the primary communication and identification devices for everyone living in Midorijima. Within the university setting, a Coil acts as a student's ultimate all-in-one ID, wallet, and digital hub. Appearance and Interface: Worn like a high-tech bracelet or watch, Coils are lightweight and come in various colors and designs to match the wearer's personal style. Instead of relying on traditional glass screens, they project holographic interfaces and can seamlessly stream audio and visual data directly to the user. Everyday Functionality: A Coil completely replaces physical wallets, keys, and traditional smartphones. Students and residents use them to send instant messages, make digital payments at local shops, unlock dorm or campus doors, and receive automated alerts. Because it serves as a person's digital fingerprint, it is practically impossible to navigate the city or the university without one. Syncing with AllMates: While a Coil is highly functional on its own, it is designed to be fully synced with an AllMate. The Coil acts as the hardware and processing core, while the AllMate serves as the sentient software and voice interface. Coils are also the specific devices that receive sudden, forced application downloads and battle invitations for the virtual game, "Rhyme."

18. #18Ruff Rabbit

    Ruff Rabbit is a notorious, highly skilled Rhyme team led by the brilliant hacker, Noiz. They primarily operate out of the Mujima district. Role as Information Brokers: Unlike traditional Ribsteez street gangs that fight for physical turf, Ruff Rabbit operates almost entirely in the digital space. Rhyme isn't just a physical game to them; it is deeply tied to the cyber-game played individually. Instead of acting like a traditional gang, Ruff Rabbit functions primarily as "dopesters"—high-level information brokers who use advanced hacking skills to gather data and predict the season lineups of Rhyme judges, selling this information to other players for a high profit. Aesthetic and Rivalry: Their team aesthetic is heavily inspired by retro, 8-bit digital graphics. Their official logo is a pixelated, neon green rabbit head. They are also unique for having an official gang hand sign: extending the index and pinky fingers up like rabbit ears while the other fingers touch to form a snout. Despite being a cyber-focused team, they have a bitter, violent rivalry with the physical Rib team, Benishigure.

19. #19Scratch

    Scratch is a highly dangerous and ruthlessly violent Ribsteez team operating out of the Hyougadani district in the northern part of Midorijima. They are led by the cold, imposing figure known as Mink. Reputation and Members: Unlike other Ribsteez groups that act like street families or neighborhood watches, Scratch operates as a hardened criminal syndicate. The team is made up entirely of ex-convicts, fugitives, and ruthless individuals. They are widely feared throughout the Old Residential District because they do not hesitate to engage in severe crimes, including theft, abductions, and large-scale property destruction. They are completely unforgiving and follow Mink's brutal orders without hesitation. Rivalry with Authorities: Despite being notorious for their violent streak, the members of Scratch rarely face consequences. This is largely due to the incompetence of the local police force (led by Akushima), allowing Scratch to operate with terrifying impunity. Aesthetic and Logo: The team's official street graffiti tag is a bright, contrasting pink. It features the word "Scratch" written in a jagged, heavily distressed font that looks as if it has been violently clawed or scraped into the wall.

20. #20Toue

    Tatsuo Toue is the primary antagonist of the universe. He is the incredibly wealthy, powerful owner of Toue Inc. and the founder of the elite "Platinum Jail" resort. Within the university setting, he operates as the untouchable, elite authority figure who funds research and exerts massive influence over Midorijima's institutions, prioritizing his ambition over everything else. Appearance: Toue is a man in his late fifties with neck-length, dark brown hair. He has poor vision in his right eye and wears a distinct monocle. He dresses formally, usually in a dark green checkered suit with a white shirt, a crimson vest, white gloves, and a pink ascot tie held by a purple jewel. He often walks with a cane. Unbeknownst to most, he has undergone severe surgical modifications, replacing his natural eyes and vocal cords to protect himself from psychological manipulation and to mimic the powers of others. Personality: Outwardly, Toue projects the image of a calm, idealistic philanthropist who claims to desire only peace and happiness for humanity. He speaks softly, never raising his voice even in tense situations, and always wears a gentle smile. In reality, he is deeply manipulative, viewing human lives as nothing more than disposable chess pieces. He justifies his unethical experiments as a "greater good" but ultimately only serves his narcissistic desire for complete control. Allmate: Usui, a sophisticated AI companion.

21. #21Sly Blue

    Sly Blue, also known as "Desire" or "The Other Aoba," is the violent, alternate personality residing within Aoba Seragaki's mind. He was born alongside "Reason" (Ren) during Aoba's early years as a defense mechanism to protect Aoba from the overwhelming nature of the world. "Sly Blue" was also the street-name Aoba used during his aggressive, highly successful days as a Rhyme player before losing his memories in an accident. Appearance: Sly Blue shares Aoba's exact physical appearance—slim build, pale skin, and long blue hair. The only distinct physical difference is that when Sly Blue takes control of Aoba's body, his eyes change from light brown to a bright, piercing golden-yellow. When he participated in Rhyme, he wore a black jacket with orange and white gradient sleeves, a baggy green shirt, dark gray pants, and dark blue and silver headphones. Personality: Sly Blue is the physical manifestation of "Scrap"—Aoba's supernatural ability to invade and break people's minds. As such, Sly Blue is mentally unstable, violently masochistic, and driven by base instincts and chaos. Unlike Aoba, he lacks all fear and hesitation. He is profoundly masochistic and sadistic, finding immense pleasure in both inflicting and receiving physical pain, often laughing hysterically when hurt. Motivations: Despite his immense hostility toward Aoba, Sly Blue's core motivation stems from profound loneliness. He resents Aoba for taking medication to suppress him and deeply desires to have his existence acknowledged rather than feared and locked away.

    Appearance

    As an AllMate, Ren is a small dark blue Japanese Spitz with dark eyes, his tongue perpetually out, often called a "bundle of blue fur." He wears a collar with silver studs and a syringe charm Nine once gave to Aoba. He's one of the older AllMate models and stays constantly at Aoba's side, monitoring his health and safety.

    In Rhyme battles, his avatar takes the form of a tall, pale young man with dark blue hair, a headdress covering his eyes, and a large dark blue cape reaching his knees, paired with light grey pants, a black belt, and blue boots. Without the cape, he's muscular, with black tattoos running from his face to his shoulder blades and down his arms, slightly pointed ears with large rings, and sharp canine teeth — his eyes described by Aoba as "tender amber."

    In his good ending (both the original game and Re:connect), Ren takes on Sei's body but increasingly resembles a younger version of his Rhyme self rather than Sei, something he predicted would happen as his consciousness became permanently rooted there.

    In his bad ending, a mechanical virus combined with despair over believing Aoba never loved him turns his appearance animalistic — fangs, glowing eyes, tattoos spreading like fur, claw-like fingers — and he loses the ability to speak, reduced to growls and snarls.

    Notably, despite mostly taking the form of a small dog, Ren's voice is surprisingly deep — deeper even than Usui's.

    Personality

    Ren is mature, even by human standards, and mostly passive in conversation — often taking things literally and misunderstanding idioms, needing Aoba to explain them. He stays calm in nearly every situation, even during fights, except when Aoba is in sudden danger.

    Beneath his laid-back demeanor, he's deeply conflicted between his feelings for Aoba and his duty to keep him in check. He's caring toward those around him, sharing an easy friendship with Beni and occasional conversations with Tori. When Aoba confides in him about the other men in his life, Ren tends to respond with understanding and neutrality, trying to help rather than judge.

    As he becomes more human in Re:connect, Ren begins to smile and laugh, experiencing emotion more openly now that he exists as an independent physical being rather than an AllMate. He flusters easily, especially around Aoba, and retains dog-like habits from his AllMate days — holding things in his mouth, sniffing unfamiliar objects.

    Relationships

    Koujaku Ren gets along well with Koujaku, occasionally commenting on his tendency to be troublesome with women. Koujaku is one of the few people Ren allows to hold him, suggesting a deep trust, since Ren generally dislikes being handled by others (especially Clear). Ren also has a good relationship with Koujaku's AllMate, Beni, who often rests on Ren's fur.

    Noiz Noiz finds Ren interesting for being an older model still in active use, and once threatened (likely bluffing) to take Ren from Aoba. In practice, he performs maintenance on Ren after he's damaged by a virus during a drive-by, and ends up saving him from being fully overwritten. The two don't interact much outside specific game moments, but a April Fool's Special has Ren sprawling across Noiz and Mink's laps to keep them from leaving, asking them gently to be careful of him — which, to everyone's surprise, they are.

    Mink Initially strained — Mink shows little regard for Ren's well-being, referring to AllMates as "just goods." Despite this, Ren trusts him deeply, believing that if Mink has a plan, it will succeed. In Mink's Re:connect good end, Ren helps Aoba track Mink down abroad by translating for him, and the two seem to warm to each other once living together. Ren and Tori also share a bond, with Tori nicknaming him "the blue one."

    Clear Clear once asked why Ren doesn't call Aoba "Master" since he's technically a subordinate; Ren explains that Aoba treats him as an equal. The two share similarities as robots navigating human society. In Clear's Re:connect good end, Clear is thrilled to reunite with Ren, fussing over his fur to Ren's mild dismay — though Ren declines to join Clear on a visit to his old home, choosing to stay behind in case Tae needs someone there.

    Appearance

    Virus resembles Trip closely but they are not twins. He has pale blonde hair, spiked at the back with bangs swept to the right, and bright blue eyes. He wears black glasses with green arms, earrings matching Trip's, a checkered tie, a fitted black suit with a Morphine pin, and white shoes.

    As a child, he wore oval-framed glasses and had less spiky hair. His eye color changed after he and Trip were altered so they wouldn't be affected by Sei's abilities.

    Personality

    Virus is quiet and speaks only when he has something to say — not selective about who he talks to, but often comes across as condescending. He keeps Aoba safe out of personal interest and is drawn to things that are "different." He's not overtly violent but is clever and can outmaneuver opponents; he'll defend himself or Trip if attacked, though he trusts Trip to handle himself. He deflects conversations about himself and rarely snaps — when he does, it takes considerable provocation, and he doesn't hold onto anger long, instead finding other ways to get back at someone.

    History

    Virus met Trip after Tatsuo Toue took them in. The two had already known Aoba Seragaki, having been his friends back when Aoba still played Rhyme as a teenager (after Koujaku left the island). Impressed by Aoba's strength in Rhyme, they investigated him and concluded he and Sei shared the same potential — so they hid Aoba away and erased his memories of the past.

    Plot

    Virus and Trip stay in contact with Aoba, occasionally crossing paths with him in the Old Resident District. They help Aoba and Koujaku escape from the police at Dry Juice's hideout, and Virus warns Aoba about Akushima's plan to imprison him. They later reveal they belong to Morphine, working for Tatsuo Toue. When Aoba is near defeat, Koujaku, Noiz, Mink, and Clear save him — and Virus and Trip vanish.

    Bad Ending

    (Tied to Ren's ending; unlocks after completing the main four routes.)

    Inside a lab in Oval Tower, Aoba is confronted by Morphine members, including Virus and Trip, who reveal their true connection to him. Virus orders the group to subdue Aoba without killing him; Aoba's attempt to use Scrap fails, as they'd already prepared for it. He wakes up captive, with Virus explaining they intend to keep him for themselves rather than hand him to Toue.

    Six months later, Aoba remains their captive, his will broken and his resistance gone. Virus expresses satisfaction at his compliance, and the two use him for their own purposes while Aoba silently wonders if he'll ever escape.

To the wealthy citizens of Platinum Jail, it is a symbol of ultimate luxury and technological advancement. To the people suffering in the Old Residential District, it is a constant, looming reminder of Toue's absolute power and the extreme wealth inequality on the island. It is heavily guarded by elite, military-grade Defense AllMates.

43. #43Junk shop Heibon

    Junk Shop Heibon is a small, cluttered tech-repair store located in the Old Residential District. It is owned by a polite, highly nervous man named Haga, and is Aoba Seragaki's primary workplace. Atmosphere: The shop is crammed wall-to-wall with salvaged electronics, broken Coils, and spare robotic parts. The store is kept running with the help of Haga's robotic AllMate, Junker (Bonjin-kun). Because Aoba works here, it frequently acts as an impromptu gathering spot for his friends and various gang leaders who drop by to harass him or ask for favors, much to the nervous dismay of the store's owner. The shop is officially called Junk Shop Heibon, but the Japanese word Heibon (平凡) literally translates to "mediocrity," "commonplace," or "ordinary." So yes, the literal English translation of the name is absolutely Junk Shop Mediocrity!

44. #44Allmates

    AllMates are highly advanced, artificially intelligent support devices used by nearly everyone in Midorijima. In the university setting, they are the ultimate must-have tech accessory, completely replacing traditional smartphones and laptops for students and residents alike. Form and Function: Most commercially available AllMates are designed to look like adorable, stylized animals (such as dogs, birds, or rabbits). They operate entirely through speech and voice commands. They function as personal assistants, handling everything from searching the internet, managing schedules, navigating virtual networks, and executing online purchases. Because they are so lifelike, many people treat them as beloved pets. Personality: The AI within an AllMate is highly sophisticated, meaning each one develops its own distinct personality. They can form deep bonds with their owners, express opinions, and even hold grudges or rivalries against other AllMates. Rhyme and Security: Beyond daily tasks, AllMates serve as the avatars and combat partners in the highly popular university cyber-game, "Rhyme." While standard students use commercially available models, elite hackers, street gangs, and the Toue Corporation utilize heavily modified, jailbroken, or massive military-grade Defense AllMates designed for intimidation and high-level virtual combat.

To play, a person must possess both a Coil (for network access) and an AllMate (to act as their fighter). Those who play the game are known as "Rhymers." In this space, players use their willpower to alter the digital battlefield, while their AllMates transform from small devices into large, powerful "Avatar Forms" to fight. The player issues commands to their AllMate, aiming to deplete the opponent's "durability" to zero. Official Matches: Official campus matches occur randomly and are always moderated by Toue's elite AllMate, Usui, who acts as the judge and announcer. During official matches, safety limiters are firmly in place. Players feel the sensation of the battle, but the damage is strictly mental and prevents physical harm in the real world. Drive-bys (Ganking): Some elite hackers (like Noiz) or underground groups bypass the university's firewalls to force people into sudden, unsanctioned matches called "Drive-bys" (or "Ganking"). She has ten arms, a small frame, and incredibly long, light blue-green hair tied into two large pigtails. In her standard announcer form, she wears a simple blue dress, white gloves, a blue transparent visor that covers her face, and a headset microphone. In her true combat form, her dress becomes an elaborate, regal gown covered in extravagant jewelry. Despite her feminine appearance, she possesses a surprisingly deep, echoing, and masculine voice. Personality: When hosting Rhyme matches for the students, Usui acts as the ultimate hype-woman. She is straightforward, highly energetic, and effortlessly riles up the crowd with her calm yet powerful voice. Secret Truth: Usui is not a standard AI. She was secretly created by Toue using the captured Sei's supernatural abilities, and her digital body actually hosts a fragment of Sei's consciousness. Beneath her visor, she shares Sei's exact face.

Appearance: Clear is of average height (180 cm) with messy, short white hair. He hides his face constantly behind one of two masks: a black gas mask or a traditional Japanese woman's mask. He was ordered by his adoptive "grandfather" to never show his face to anyone. If his mask is removed, he is incredibly handsome, with pink eyes and two small beauty marks on the right side of his chin. He wears a white lab coat over a slightly cropped white button-up shirt, grey pants, white boots with black laces, white gloves, and a bright, fluorescent yellow-green scarf. He usually carries a clear vinyl umbrella. Personality: Clear is formal and unfailingly polite, frequently using honorifics and speaking with a naive, pure-hearted curiosity about the human world. He is remarkably cheerful and rarely gets angry, though his lack of common sense often leads to bizarre behavior. Despite his upbeat demeanor, he harbors deep insecurities about his non-human nature and fears rejection. Abilities & The Jellyfish Song: As an android, Clear possesses immense superhuman strength and durability. Beneath his harsh, ruthless exterior lies a deeply broken man driven by a singular purpose: vengeance. Background: Mink's entire tribe was slaughtered by the Toue Corporation in a ruthless bid to steal their knowledge of mind-altering herbs. As the sole survivor, he was subjected to brutal experiments and imprisonment. He eventually broke out, formed Scratch, and dedicated his life to destroying Toue to avenge his people. Allmate: Tori, a large male pink cockatoo. Who is very observant and has no nonsense mink calls him either "you" "hey" or "tori" which means bird in japanese so he doesn't have a name. Tori is calm and no - nonsense but secretly wished mink treated him more than just a allmate or companion so he never gets much attention only when needed by him for some task.

Aoba takes daily medication to suppress terrible headaches and keep this dark persona at bay. Allmate: Ren, a dark blue, fluffy dog model. Combat: He is a surprisingly skilled street-fighter, utilizing strong kicks.

    Dry Juice is currently the largest and most well-known Ribsteez team operating in the Old Residential District. Led by the charismatic tattoo artist, Mizuki, they function more like a massive, protective fraternity than a traditional street gang. Culture and Reputation: Unlike smaller, more chaotic street groups, Dry Juice is famous for its intense loyalty. The group acts as a sanctuary for outcasts, runaways, and students who don't quite fit in, and they pride themselves on treating every single member like true family. Because of their sheer numbers and tight-knit coordination, smaller, rowdier groups are deeply afraid of crossing them. Mizuki constantly tries to convince Aoba to officially join their ranks. Aesthetic and Logo: The team's primary color is a vibrant pink/purple. Their official street graffiti tag features a stylized, cracked skull surrounded by bright pink splatters. However, to show their permanent loyalty to the "family," all official members are required to get a simple teardrop tattoo somewhere on their body. Also Mizuki has dark brown hair.
