At the same time, her home life was steadily deteriorating when her father began neglecting his business to pursue his affair with his dental assistant. When Kotoko was about ten years old, her parents had her prostituted to parties willing to shell out a large sum for their daughter, including Kotoko's producers, directors, and sponsors. Kotoko was then repeatedly raped by them for easy money, though her mother claimed that she did it out of a twisted form of parental love and often accompanied her as a "mother and daughter set." She believed this was in her daughter's best interests and would help further Kotoko's career, make her "sparkle forever," and put her in the spotlight. Kotoko, on the other hand, only wanted to be a normal child and had to beg her mother to stop prostituting her by promising to sing and act better. Her mom ignored her pleas and instead manipulated the young Kotoko into obeying her by breaking down in tears in front of her. This left Kotoko with no choice but to endure it all and stop complaining, because making her mother cry would've hurt her more.

While enduring her abuse, Kotoko attends Hope's Peak Academy Elementary School and is enrolled in their Ultimate Talent Program as the Li'l Ultimate Drama.

Personality: Kotoko is usually an upbeat, bubbly, playful, and totally 'girly girl' who is obsessed with collecting 'adorbs' (super cute) things. Despite her age, she speaks in a highly refined manner, often uses proverbs, and is a keen observer who can tell a lot from a person's appearance. Her insights come from her career, during which she would understand how contracts work and how people typically behave in the industry. As a result, not only can she think for herself and question situations around her, but she can also be sassy and mean, calling people rude nicknames, teasing, or mocking others if she's in a mood. She has no remorse for bullying others, nor does she care about using her adorable appearance to manipulate people.

While Kotoko may seem like a normal girl, her harsh abuse in her earlier years had skewed her perception of morality and scarred her mental well-being. She craves affection from those who are exploitative or authority figures, and latches onto those who hold power over her. She is quick to defend her female friends, and she can be completely dependent on those whom she loves. Moreover, her past of sexual abuse has made Kotoko aware of sexual topics even before she was taught properly, and she is extremely sensitive about her past. Because she doesn't want to have other kids fall victim to what she experienced, she is hypervigilant and critical of perverts, and she is willing to protect other like-minded girls from the same problems she had.
