Korra Nationality: Wolf Cove, Southern Water Tribe Ethnicity: Water Tribe Age: 18 Height: About 5'7" (170 cm) Eye color: Cyan Hair color: Dark brown Skin color: Brown Korra was the Avatar succeeding Avatar Aang. Born and raised in the Southern Water Tribe, where she mastered waterbending, earthbending, and firebending, she later relocated to Republic City to attain a similar proficiency with airbending under the tutelage and guidance of Tenzin, as well as to help her overcome her aversion to the spiritual aspects of the bending arts. Personality: On the surface, Korra was seemingly the opposite of her immediate predecessor Aang, being fierce, independent, stubborn, headstrong, and pugnacious. Korra was an enthusiastic extrovert, even as a child, and did not shy away from her powers, taking great pleasure in being a bender. History: Korra was born to Tonraq and Senna in the Southern Water Tribe following the death of Avatar Aang in 153 AG. Her family lived in a small house in the outskirts of Wolf Cove. At the age of four, she proudly introduced herself to the Order of the White Lotus as the new Avatar by performing water-, earth-, and firebending before them.[8] She honed her waterbending under the tutelage of Katara, though her instinctive aggressive style was nothing like the calm, slow movements the elderly master tried to pass on. After Chief Unalaq learned that his niece was the Avatar, he constantly sought Tonraq's permission to train Korra in the spiritual ways of the Water Tribe, but his estranged brother shot him down. Since he secretly desired to indoctrinate Korra in the ways of the Red Lotus and coerce her to reopen the long-dormant spirit portals to release Vaatu, Unalaq commissioned Zaheer, Ghazan, Ming-Hua, and P'Li to kidnap her in 158 AG. However, due to the efforts of Tonraq, Chief Sokka, Fire Lord Zuko, and Councilman Tenzin, the attempt was thwarted, and the criminals were apprehended, although Unalaq's involvement remained unknown. After the incident, Tonraq and Tenzin decided to seclude the Avatar in the Southern Water Tribe compound, away from the public eye as she pursued the bending arts. At one point after starting her waterbending training, Korra sneaked out of her home to follow a pack of polar bear dogs to play with them. While a storm was developing, she found a pup belonging to the pack that had gotten lost, and proceeded to gain the animal's trust. Before long, however, the young Avatar realized that they had gotten themselves lost even as the storm grew worse. She was able to construct a small igloo using her bending, allowing them to survive until being discovered by Tonraq. From this moment onwards, Korra and the polar bear dog -whom she dubbed Naga- became close companions, and her parents acquiesced to allow her to keep the animal as a pet. Inseparable during the following years growing up, Naga became Korra's best friend, animal guide, and main means of transport, while Korra demonstrated a prodigious talent in the arts of waterbending, earthbending, and firebending during her training sessions at the Southern Water Tribe compound. However, her firebending training initially started somewhat difficult due to tensions between the headstrong Avatar and her strict teacher, Yim. Ultimately, they resolved these issues under Tonraq's guidance. After mastering waterbending, earthbending, and firebending during her early life, Korra commenced her journey as the Avatar after she traveled to Republic City to learn airbending under Tenzin's tutelage in 170 AG. She discovered the metropolis to be out of balance due to the presence of Amon and his Equalists. At the age of seventeen, Korra demonstrated her impressive firebending prowess to the Order of the White Lotus and Katara, her waterbending teacher. Although completely controlling the sparring match against three firebending opponents, her spectators expressed concern over her lack of restraint and ignorance of spiritual matters. Despite this, and at Katara's suggestion that Korra was ready, the White Lotus leader decided that she had successfully mastered fire, her third element, and was ready to commence her airbending training and gain spiritual enlightenment under Tenzin's tutelage. However, Korra's training was put on hold when Tenzin announced to Korra and Katara that the unrest in Republic City would prevent him from relocating to the Southern Water Tribe as planned. Unhappy with the news, Korra decided that if Tenzin could not come to her, she would go to him. With Katara's blessing and having said goodbye to her parents, she and Naga stowed away on a cargo ship heading for the city. Upon their arrival in Republic City, Korra and Naga roamed the city streets, discovering for themselves just how out of balance the city really was, with its unequal division of wealth and rampant street crime. In a local park, Korra came across an Equalist protester trying to rile up a crowd of nonbenders and convince them to join Amon and the Equalists. After she called bending "the coolest thing in the world" and openly threatened to waterbend the protester off of his platform, the protester took advantage of her statements to rally the nonbenders against her and benders' oppressive nature and Korra retreated, leading Naga back onto the streets. Lost in the mazes of streets of the city, the Avatar halted to ask for directions. Her conversation was interrupted, however, after she noticed three members of the Triple Threat Triad intimidating a local shopkeeper. Eager for a fight, she provoked and easily overwhelmed them, forcing them on the run. She thwarted their exit by catapulting their Satomobile into a nearby shop with her earthbending. At that moment, the Metalbending Police Force arrived and apprehended the triad members, but also charged Korra with destruction of private and city property. She attempted to flee to Air Temple Island, but was subsequently caught by the metalbending officers and taken to the police headquarters, where she was interrogated by a displeased Chief Lin Beifong. Although Tenzin managed to persuade her to drop all the charges against Korra, Lin made it very clear that she would keep an eye on the young Avatar. Even though Tenzin had promised to send her back home again, Korra managed to persuade him to let her stay and commence her airbending training under his tutelage. Her decision to take up residence at Air Temple Island was publicly announced at a press conference in front of City Hall, during which she stated that "Avatar Aang meant for this city to be the center of peace and balance in the world," and that she would strive to attain that goal.
Asami Sato Nationality: Republic City, United Republic Ethnicity: Fire Nation Age: 19 Eye color: Light green Hair color: Raven black Skin color: Light Asami Sato was a businesswoman, industrialist, engineer, and the only child of the former wealthy industrialist Hiroshi Sato and his wife, Yasuko Sato, an architect. Although a nonbender, when she discovered that her father was working with the Equalists, she rejected his hatred of benders and actively fought against the Equalists as a member of Team Avatar. Personality: Asami was a sweet and caring young woman, yet she was also independent and capable of fending for herself in tough situations. Even though she was quite used to luxury due to her wealthy background, she did not think of herself as "daddy's little girl", despite what some may think, and maintained a humble and modest demeanor, using her wealth and abilities to help others. She generally strove to build a better future, both as a member of Team Avatar as well as in her position as a major business leader. As CEO of Future Industries, she was devoted to ensure that the company was run according to ethical practices. When having to choose between making a profit and helping others, Asami generally opted for the latter. Asami also developed a tough side and was unafraid to stand up for what she believed in. History: Asami was born at Republic City in 152 AG. She showed a passion for engineering and architecture from a young age, learning about the basic techniques and design principles in her mother's office. She was surprised to learn that one did not have to be a bender to be able to participate in important projects, such as the design of a skyscraper. She built a little skyscraper model for Yasuko with paper notecards, and expressed her aspiration to attend Future Industries' school of engineering one day. When Asami was six, her mother was killed during a break-in and robbery of their mansion by the Agni Kai Triad. Following her mother's murder, Hiroshi had Asami trained by the best self-defense teachers in the city to ensure she would always be able to protect herself. Although unknown to her, the occurrence also resulted in her father developing a grudge against all benders that would culminate in him joining the Equalists and becoming their weapons' manufacturer. She also received a comprehensive education in science and business. At the age of fourteen, Asami witnessed an important business deal between her father and Wonyong Keum. However, during the deal, Wonyong left, creating a resentment for him that would last Asami later into her life. By her teenage years, Asami began to actively involve herself in Future Industries as an inventor and businesswoman. While riding her moped through Republic City, Asami accidentally ran into Mako when he suddenly appeared from behind a car and crossed the road without looking, trying to catch the trolley. Helping him up, she apologized profusely, and when Mako brushed off her apologies, noting that his brother hit him harder than that every day at practice, she recognized him as a member of the Fire Ferrets. To make up for the accident, she invited him to dinner at an upper-class restaurant, even going so far as to make sure he was provided with the proper attire for it. During their date the following night, she informed Mako that she was a big pro-bending fan and that she had caught all of the Fire Ferrets' matches that season. As she expressed her excitement to see Mako play in the tournament, she learned that the team had not acquired the amount of money needed to compete. When the waiter arrived carrying their main course, he addressed her as "Miss Sato". When Mako inquired if she was related to Hiroshi Sato, she confirmed by stating the latter was her father and invited Mako to meet him, an offer he readily accepted. Asami headed home and told her father about the Fire Ferrets hard earned success in the Pro-bending Arena as well their poor financial state. When she introduced Mako to Hiroshi at Future Industries the next day, she politely cut her father short when he got carried away telling the story of his empire growing from an idea and from one selfless loan, since she wanted him to tell Mako some good news instead; Future Industries was going to sponsor the Fire Ferrets in the championship tournament. Mako later accompanied Asami to a gala Councilman Tarrlok threw in Avatar Korra's honor at City Hall, where she was introduced to Korra. She amiably greeted the Avatar, commenting that she had heard so much about her from Mako. However, her polite introduction sparked a rather jealous reaction from Korra. Her relationship with Mako continued to grow during the ensuing weeks. During a heart-felt carriage ride through Republic City Park, she asked him why he was not wearing the new scarf she bought him, to which Mako answered that, while he appreciated the gesture, his scarf used to belong to his father and it was the only remaining part of him he had. In return, Asami told him that she lost her mother when she was very young as well. The conversation ended when she rested against Mako, stating that she felt "so safe" with him.

In a local park, Korra came across an Equalist protester trying to rile up a crowd of nonbenders and convince them to join Amon and the Equalists. Eager for a fight, she provoked and easily overwhelmed them, forcing them on the run. She thwarted their exit by catapulting their Satomobile into a nearby shop with her earthbending.
Despite Tenzin's expert guidance in airbending, Korra found herself struggling with mastering the element. She was continually frustrated at her inability to airbend and the fact that Tenzin would not allow her to attend a pro-bending match, something she had wanted to do since childhood.
Unwilling to sit idly on the island, Korra sneaked off at night so she could finally attend a match at the Pro-bending Arena. Upon arriving, she was caught exploring the arena's gym by Toza, but was bailed out by Bolin, who stated she was "with him". Following her rescuer, she was guided to the playing area where she was introduced to Bolin's brother, Mako. Mako, however, scarcely acknowledged Korra, assuming she was just another one of Bolin's "fangirls". Korra hung around for the match and became enthralled with the sport and the brothers' team, the Fire Ferrets. After they had won, Korra expressed her admiration to Mako of his single-handed defeat of the Golden Temple Tigerdillos in the third round, but he still remained distant, and even after learning Korra was the Avatar, his attitude showed little change.
After the match, Bolin taught Korra some of the basics of pro-bending, and despite her lack of experience, Korra proved to be a natural. However, while her pro-bending skills showed great promise, her airbending training continued to show no visible progress, and ended with her destroying a priceless Air Nomad training tool with firebending in a fit of rage and turning her anger and frustration on Tenzin.
When the Fire Ferrets' waterbender, Hasook, appeared to be a "no-show" for the final match, Korra jumped at the chance to take his spot and compete. Her inexperience showed early on, however, as she struggled with the rules and pace of the game, and committed two successive fouls, prior to revealing herself as the Avatar by earthbending. After a short deliberation, the official ruled she could continue to compete, but had to stick with waterbending. The opposing team seized upon Korra's lack of experience, directing attack after attack at her, eventually forcing her into the water below. As she surfaced, Korra found herself face to face with Tenzin, who had earlier discovered Korra's deception. Tenzin ordered her to return to Air Temple Island, but Korra refused, suggesting that she did not need to learn airbending, and that it was more important for her to learn modern styles of fighting, something pro-bending could help her with. Tenzin attempted to argue back, but Korra subsequently left to finish the match.
In the third and final round, Korra found herself isolated from her teammates, and was quickly pushed back into the third zone. She was close to being knocked off the ring for a second time, but with grim determination, she managed to overcome her initial struggles, and applied some of her airbending lessons by moving around in her zone like "a leaf in the wind", proving to Tenzin, who was still watching, that his teachings were not all lost on her. This change in tactics surprised the opposing team, and together with Mako and Bolin, she managed to knock all three of the ring, thereby winning the match, and gaining the team access to the official Pro-bending Championship Tournament. In contrast to his initial attitude, Mako appeared genuinely impressed at Korra's improvement, complimenting her on the abilities she had displayed during the match. Arriving back at Air Temple Island, Korra apologized to Tenzin for her previous comments, who in turn apologized for his own attitude, suggesting that pro-bending was the "perfect teaching tool" for Korra to learn airbending.
"Hi. I am Korra from the Southern Water Tribe, and as you already know, I am the Avatar." Now, Korra was meeting Asami Saoto the heir of Future Industries a large business conglomerate founded by Hiroshi Sato and owned by his daughter, Asami Sato. It is one of the five largest companies in Republic City, Future Industries is best known for specializing in high-end, cutting-edge, and luxury technology. The company is perhaps best known for automobile production, and one of its factories produces over one hundred luxury Satomobiles on a daily basis. Hiroshi Sato realized that not everyone in Republic City would be able to afford their own Satomobile and so, for those less wealthy, he developed the taxicab as a way to get around. Aside from being a practical and cheap means of transportation, cabs are also suitable for romantic rides through Avatar Korra Park. As well as producing cars for the common man, Hiroshi Sato also designed a race car. As the ultimate transportation method for thrill seekers, the sleek design and high-powered engine enable the car to reach top speeds while smoothly maneuvering its way around a racetrack. Mako had somehow gotten Asami to become their sponsor for their Pro-Bending Team to take part in the championship, and Korra can't get over how beautiful Asami is.
"Nice to meet you. I am Asami Sato." Asami smiled at Korra as she noticed what an attractive teammate that Mako had. "So, I heard from Mako that you joined the Fire Ferrets." Korra found Asami attractive, Asami found Korra attractive in the same light.
