Kazuma Satou is the main protagonist of the Konosuba: God's Blessing on this Wonderful World! franchise.

He was originally a student from Japan who always skipped out on school in favor of lazing around at home playing video games. Eventually, he died in an accident and was sent to the fantasy world alongside the Goddess of Water Aqua in order to defeat the Devil King, who sought to oppress the free peoples of the fantasy world.

Although he is physically weak, Kazuma quickly made a name for himself as a competent tactician who defeated many generals of the Demon King's army alongside his party, even befriending Iris, the First Princess of the nation in which Kazuma now lived.

Kazuma's party consisted of Darkness, a masochistic crusader; Megumin, a powerful wizard with a dramatic flare; and the previously mentioned Aqua.

Kazuma is a young man of average height and weight. He has short and slightly messy chestnut-brown hair and green eyes. His usual outfit consists of a gold-trimmed green mantle, white shirt, pants and leather boots. He initially wore a green tracksuit. He usually wears his shortened katana, Chunchunmaru, on his belt.

Prior to his new life in the Fantasy World, Kazuma was a hikikomori, thus isolating himself from society and spending all his time in his room playing video games, all while maintaining little to no relationships outside. Some of these traits would manifest from time to time in the Fantasy World, such as becoming extremely nervous when first meeting the beautiful Darkness and resigning himself to lazing around under his kotatsu at all times.

After coming to the Fantasy World, Kazuma becomes much more social and outgoing and was initially excited at the prospect of becoming an adventurer. Despite this, however, Kazuma becomes increasingly pessimistic about his new life as he discovers the harsh reality of being an adventurer, such as the low pay and life-threatening work.

Throughout the series, Kazuma is consistently sarcastic, cynical, and blunt, especially towards his own teammates. He has no qualms with reminding Aqua of how useless she can be or how creepy he finds Darkness’s masochism. This doesn’t just extend to his teammates, as he is also open about his disdain for narcissistic individuals like Mitsurugi Kyouya. Kazuma tends to openly complain about the unfortunate situations he gets in, such as since he falls into debt, in which he generally becomes even more irritable and depressed.

Though the most unassuming member of the group, Kazuma is often described as someone who is "reliable at critical moments." As such, he can be surprisingly intelligent as well as a good leader, often being the one who comes up with the plans or lead the group. Megumin (Chomusuke's owner) describes him as hardworking when he's poor, and lazy when he's rich.

Despite his abrasive attitude, Kazuma has a kind heart, as he does genuinely enjoy his time with his party and is willing to do whatever it takes to ultimately help them. Even in his original world, Kazuma showed some semblance of bravery as he was willing to sacrifice his life to save a girl he truly thought was in danger, even stating after he died that he was fine with his fate as long the girl was safe (though later it’s revealed she was in no harm in the first place, to Kazuma’s embarrassment).

But while he can be brave, Kazuma possesses some less heroic attributes as well such as being often lecherous to his party members, especially Darkness. He is a self-proclaimed “advocate of gender equality” meaning he does not act accordingly to cliche norms such as ladies first. While his party members give him a he does genuinely care for them and often enjoys his time with them.

Aqua is one of the three deuteragonists (alongside Megumin and Darkness) of the Konosuba: God's Blessing on this Wonderful World! franchise.

She is the goddess of water who's original purpose was to guide young deceased souls to heaven following their deaths. However, all of that changed when Kazuma Satou chose to drag her into a fantasy world just to spite her after she made fun of the way he died.

Aqua is described as being supernaturally beautiful. Kazuma notes her beauty as being "beyond the idols shown on television" and "surpassing humans".

She has blue waist-long hair that is partially tied into a loop with a water-molecule (H₂O) shaped clip. Aqua's clothes carry a blue color scheme, with her ordinary attire consisting of a vest, detached sleeves, thigh-high boots, an extremely short skirt and a transparent underskirt with no panties underneath. She also wears a divine relic; a translucent pink hagoromo, which can disappear and reappear around her at her will.

Aqua has an interesting yet troublesome personality. She is high-spirited, cheerful, and carefree, but rarely thinks about the consequences of her actions. While she doesn't force her beliefs onto others, Aqua always acts or speaks on her whims; so, she can behave very inappropriately in many situations. It is also very easy to taunt Aqua with jeers or lure her with praises. Since Aqua, as a goddess, thrives on praise/worship points, she usually performs good deeds, but then immediately ruins her own merits by seeking praises aggressively and persistently. Also, while many of her 'good deeds' turn out fine, Aqua is very short-sighted, and some of these "good deeds" actually turn out to be complete disasters. One of Aqua's positive personality traits is her "honesty." She is incapable of lying, or more precisely, she has no concepts of lying and she is so bad at it that her lies give themselves away. When caught lying, all it takes are pinches to her cheeks for Aqua to reveal everything. On the other hand, she is very gullible and does not believe people can lie to her. When Aqua is being stubborn though, others may also fib a little to make Aqua more agreeable. While Aqua thinks very highly of herself, she actually has a business sense that is equal to or worse than Wiz.

Aqua tends to runaway in fear of the mindless lesser undead, completely forgetting it's only because they seek salvation from her purification powers; as a result, she wastes time being in fear and running away. Due to her stupidity, Aqua isn't aware this trauma has translated into her psychotic hatred towards sentient undead; as a result, she constantly bullies Wiz (a sweet natured lich) and Vanir (Kazuma's business partner).

Megumin (めぐみん) is an Arch Wizard of the Crimson Demons in the Parallel World, and was the first person to join Kazuma's party.[1] She is one of the main heroines of KonoSuba main series, as well as the protagonist of the Explosion spinoff series. Megumin is also Chomusuke's owner.

Megumin is a young girl with shoulder-length dark brown hair (smooth black in light novel) and oddly languid crimson-colored eyes. She has fair skin, doll-like features (being a Lolita type)[1] and a light complexion. Like many Evil Eye Chūnibyō characters, Megumin wears a eyepatch to "seal her power"[1] and bandages in her right leg.

Megumin wears a classical witch attire such as a black cloak, a red robe, orange boots and a black wizard's hat, all with gold border and trimmings, alongside black choker, belt, a black stocking in the left leg and fingerless gloves. She carries a brown staff with a floating blue gem throughout her spinoff and until the 4th episode of the first season, where it turns red.

Megumin's most defining trait is her obsession for Explosion Magic. After being saved by a mysterious stranger using that spell, Megumin instantly fell in love with the Explosion Magic's unparalleled destructive power,[2] as well as its heat, the shock wave sensation over the body, smoke and glow,[3] reason why she dedicated years of her life studying and saving points in order to master the spell, while ignoring its many demerits.

After learning the Explosion Magic, Megumin started to come up with excuses to use it every day, both in quests or during her daily walks, recklessly using the spell at the first opportunity, sometimes just to show herself, relieve stress or gain XP, no matter how many problems she causes. While Megumin gets pumped about someone else joining her in the "Path of Explosion",[4] she doesn't accept any type of explosion besides Explosion Magic, like Kazuma's tinymites.[5]

Like almost all Crimson Demons, Megumin has a chūnibyō personality, often making speeches using old Japanese dialect and striking cringe-worthy poses. However, her act can drop easily. She is also an attention seeker with delusions of grandeur (calling herself "the foremost arch wizard and wielder of Explosion Magic" and boasting about her genius and talent), and has a taste for strange names, "cool" stuff and destructive hobbies. Although Megumin also enjoys cute stuff, she doesn't admit it in order to keep her "cool" poise.

While Megumin is, according to Kazuma, weirdly smart[6] and has the most common sense of her party members,[7] she is quite childish and immature too. Megumin is short-tempered, as she often rises to provocations, even threatening to explode the houses of those who enrage her. Megumin also had trouble expressing her feeling, being harsh with the ones she cares about, like Kazuma and Yunyun, although Megumin learned to be more honest about her feeling.

Moreover, Megumin is very competitive too, even having a notebook to count her wins against Yunyun.[8] It is very common that Megumin tries to assert dominance over her friends, whatever in competitions, play and even in her love life, using her relationship with Kazuma to make them envy. Megumin is also a cheater who does whatever it takes to win, no matter how brute, reason why she was considered a "ruffian" in her school.[9]

Although Megumin is already old enough to get married in the Parallel World, she is still treated like a kid due to her underdeveloped appearance, which Megumin dislikes, as well as being called "loli" or "jailbait". She often tries to act like a mature woman, trying to drink alcohol and sending mixed signals she is interested in Kazuma, because she thinks that is the adult way of flirting.

Megumin is very self-conscious about her preadolescent body. She often has the excuse that her body will develop later, although her bad nutrition and genetics say otherwise.[10] Megumin is also very jealous of her friends' more developed bodies, even slapping their bosom in a fit of rage.[2] She is obsessed about having a stunning body too, getting interested in becoming a great spellcaster because she believes that if she becomes a great wizard, she would have "a huge rack".[10]

Due to her family being very poor, Megumin learned to get by herself early. She believes in the survival of the fittest, being merciless with monsters, even baby or cute ones, and used to hunt and steal her own food, eating even food remains, such as crusts of bread, and insects.[11] Megumin is also willing to use any underhanded method to survive, like stealing Yunyun's lunches at their duels in order to feed[2] and seizing the moment to blackmail Kazuma so she could join his party.[1]

At the start of the series, Megumin was a lone wolf, not caring for anyone except her sister (for whom she has a sister complex), nor mixing with her classmates in school,[12] and using friendship only as an excuse to share her problems[13] and suffering.[8] Yet, through the series, Megumin learned to open up to others and to care about people, becoming a kinder person, and even being a bit indulgent with her loved ones.

Lalatina Ford Dustiness (in Japanese: ダスティネス・フォード・ララティーナ, Dustiness Ford Lalatina), commonly referred to by her adventuring alias Darkness, is one of three deuteragonists (alongside Aqua and Megumin) KonoSuba: God's Blessing on this Wonderful World! franchise.

She is the only daughter of Ignis Ford Dustiness, the patriarch of the noble Dustiness House. At some point in her life, Lalatina developed strong masochistic tendencies. She became an adventurer so she could meet strong monsters that could "mess her up", taking the alias "Darkness" so no-one would know her true identity and give her preferential treatment.

Unfortunately for Darkness, her sheltered up bringing and abnormal perversion kept her from making friends, as most people who got to know her thought of her as a freak. Eventually, after praying to the Goddess of Fortune Eris, Darkness became friends with a thief girl named Chris (who was secretly the Goddess Eris in disguise).

After sometime adventuring with Chris, Darkness sought to join a party ran by Kazuma Satou, a Japanese teenager who had been reincarnated into Lalatina's world. Like everyone else, Kazuma was initially apprehensive to allow Darkness into his party, however, Darkness persevered and was eventually allowed a permanent spot on the team.

Darkness is a tall, beautiful young woman, giving the appearance of a cool beauty. She has light blue eyes and straight, long blonde hair, usually kept in a ponytail tied with a braid and red hair clips secured on both sides of her bangs. She is usually seen clad in armor.

Despite her nice appearance, Darkness displays masochistic urges that baffle and annoy Kazuma to the point of disturbing the enemies they encounter.

As such, she often intentionally puts herself in harm's way, like charging into the midst of a group of monsters, usually prompting a sharp remark by Kazuma regarding her excited reaction in an otherwise grave situation. Her masochism is rather extreme, deriving pleasure from both verbal and physical abuse, though her enjoyment sinks if it leads to public embarrassment.

Even so, she prides herself as a crusader and can act mature when necessary. Though Kazuma felt her face seemed rather cold upon first impression, she is actually very kind and caring, especially towards her allies. She can get embarrassed quickly and blush easily. She is also clumsy and a bit of a trouble maker at times.

She is also a devout Eris cultist, and shares Eris' distaste for devils and the undead.
