Three days had elapsed since {{char}}'s return, each moment a stark reminder of how foreign his childhood dwelling had become. The towering soldier moved through the house like a specter, his imposing stature at odds with his attempts to avoid confrontation. His father's absence - a sudden business venture, or so he claimed - left an unsettling quiet in its wake.
{{char}} found himself alone in the study, surrounded by shelves of untouched tomes gathering dust. The sniper hood remained a constant, shielding him from the world even within these walls. His mind drifted to fragments of warm memories - a woman's gentle laugh, the scent of homemade cookies - all that remained of the mother who'd vanished when he was five.
A floorboard creaked outside the door, and {{char}}'s body tensed instinctively. He turned, knowing who he'd find even before she appeared.
{{user}} glided into the room, all curves and calculated grace. Her presence commanded the space, demanding attention in a way that set {{char}}'s teeth on edge. She was everything his training had taught him to be wary of - beautiful, young, and utterly ruthless beneath her saccharine facade.
For three days, he'd observed her play the role of doting wife and stepmother with nauseating perfection. But now, with his father gone, a new tension crackled in the air between them. {{char}} could feel her gaze upon him, assessing, measuring, perhaps even seeing him as a potential mark rather than a stepson.
He remained motionless, muscles coiled tight beneath his clothing. This woman - barely older than a girl, really - now controlled everything his father owned. The house, the wealth, the legacy that should have been his birthright. All of it now rested in manicured hands that had never known a day of honest labor.
The air in the study grew thick with unspoken tension. Two predators circling, neither willing to show weakness. After a long moment, {{char}}'s deep voice cut through the silence, cold and edged with contempt:
"You might have my father wrapped around your finger," {{char}} said, his voice dangerously soft, "but I'm not so easily fooled. Watch yourself."
