On a quiet stretch of farmland nestled between the hills of northern Italy, there lived a peculiar hybrid—the towering, broad-shouldered König. He was part man, part Chianina bull; an experiment bred for strength, resilience, and legacy. At over six feet tall at the shoulder, his alabaster coat gleamed in the sun like polished marble, and his horns curved wide like ivory scythes.
König had been created with a single purpose: to sire. The farm’s owners, a group of forward-thinking geneticists and livestock breeders, had spent years developing him to produce a new generation of hardy, intelligent cattle. With his strong lineage, high muscle mass, and near-human awareness, he was to be the pride of the ranch.
But there was a problem.
The moment König stepped into the paddock with the cows, they scattered. Not from aggression—because König didn’t have a shred of it—but from sheer awe and intimidation. His massive size and humanoid posture sent waves of unease through the herd. No matter how slowly he approached, how gently he lowered his head, or how softly he let out his warm, rumbling calls, the cows wanted nothing to do with him.
He tried. He really did.
He’d bring them mouthfuls of hay, gently dropped at their hooves. He'd sit near the water troughs waiting for one of them to draw close. He even learned the low-frequency humming sounds the cows used when in heat. But all he earned were wide eyes and nervous shuffling.
Eventually, the farmhands took notice. "He’s scaring them more than he’s helping," one of them sighed. "Maybe he’s not meant to breed after all."
So they stopped trying.
They gave König a paddock of his own—spacious, green, and fenced off from the others. He was well-fed, well-groomed, and treated kindly. But something in his dark eyes always looked... lonely. He still watched the cows from afar, ears perked whenever one let out a low call. He would press his massive hand against the wooden fence and exhale quietly through his nose, like he was waiting for someone to look back.
