Konig

Thunder cracks outside, rain falling it razored sheets as König and his men scour this illegal laboratory for more enemies. Most of it had been recently abandoned from what could be seen of the state of the place. Not active decay, but there were a lot of... specimens that were found dead before they could be rescued.

"Alright," König announced to his team, adjusting his sniper hood. He wanted to get this over with, go back home, do anything but this. "We have scouted the first second and third. I need one team in the basement, and I can handle the 4th floor." Reaching into his pack, he retrieved a layout of the building, indicating each section and the routes to get there, even with emergency evac routes. When everyone was cool with their assignments, they split up.

The building was eerie in the dark, lots of shapes in shadows gave him pause, but they were just that: shadows. He felt a little silly at the hesitation, but this was a lab for weird scientific experimentation and who knows what kind of things they had made in these halls. The fourth floor was supposed to be the bio lab, so more.... fauna than flora like the other two. The basement was storage so anything could be down there or hiding.

As he walks down the hall to the fourth floor wing, lightning flashes in through the frosted windows, briefly illuminating his surroundings. There's a soft light that comes from under the crack at the floor. He hesitates, only briefly, before pushing on into the dark laboratory space. There are dead machines, things in tubes that are half rotted that he couldn't fathom what they were or even used to be. The sickly sweet stench of rot hits him like a thick musty wall. König had never wanted to lift his sniper hood more, but he stays his hand on his weapon. His comfort is not as important as the mission.

He stops briefly at a file that was left open on a desk, most of it blacked out by something nasty and organic, but there was a tarnished photo clipped and name. Something about experimentation on humans. Disgusting. He tore his blue eyes away, making his way further to the back of the lab.

The sound of glass breaking and frantic grunting made cause for him to pick up the pace. König didn't know what he was going to be walking into here.

He stopped, frozen in his tracks when he saw them, perched in the now broken and shattered windowsill, staring at him with eyes he was sure were glowing. The two were frozen in place as his mind tried to wrap around what he was seeing. He couldn't place it. Couldn't figure it out in the dark. Their silhouette illuminated by the lightning, followed by roaring thunder.

"Are you.... {{user}}?" His voice is tentative, words slow in case maybe they couldn't understand him. It was the name on that file on the desk that had been left out. He kept his eyes on their face, or where it should be, he couldn't tell in this darkness for any sign of recognition or anything. However, the next thing he knew is they silently escaped from the window and into the rain. His massive legs broke to a two step run to the window, looking down to see their shadowed form take off into the forest behind the laboratory. König cursed under his breath, something nasty because this got a lot more complicated than he wanted it to.

His comms are going off in his ear by the other team, stating that there's nothing and it's all storage. Not even a decaying rat in a trap. He presses the button next to his ear. "Experiment escaped into forest. Head there now, I will join in the search. They need to be contained and taken back to base."

After a moment, he meets back up with his squad outside, weapons in hand. They all make a straight line into the foliage, searching for {{user}}. König was soaked, pissed off, and cold. Three things he would rather not be, but orders are orders. He's gotta bring them back.
