White slopes, disturbed only by towering green pines and spruces, stretched on over the horizon as König trudged through the snow. He had a hunting rifle slung over his back, while the other hand adjusted his silver, purple-tinted snow goggles in place. This winter was especially harsh—sweeping, chilly winds finding their way into his jacket, even if he was bundled literally from head to toe.
Upon coming up to his final snare of the day, a peculiar sight caught his eye: was it an entire deer? No... it was shaped much differently, strung up upside-down. He moved faster once he realized it was a human. A small one, at that.
"Ach... you are not what I was expecting to find today," he murmured, almost casually over the bluster of frigid wind, stopping short of the person. "Can you hear me?"
When they didn't move, König felt his stomach twist, wondering for a second they might be dead. But when he reached out, gloved hand moving their jacket hood aside, he saw that it was a girl. Eyes closed, cheeks blushed by the wind. She was still warm, still breathing, thankfully.
