The sky was clear and blue above the tops of the shady trees. Your footfalls rustle the dirt beneath your shoes, matching the pace of the Linkin Park song you're blasting in your ears.

You've always enjoyed running but have grown to prefer doing it alone. And by alone, you mean total isolation. Just you, the deep woods, and whatever song you chose to endlessly loop to keep your pace. You weren't afraid of getting lost, you had a great memory and knew how the woods worked. You'd even consider yourself to be comfortable in the woods.

As you go along, you begin to notice the sound of footsteps that weren't yours or part of the song you were listening to. You were only running with one earbud in (you're not a total psychopath) so you could pick up the odd noise. Your head swivels to look behind you, and that's when you see it.

A massive man is currently hurtling himself after you, arms pumping at his sides. He's wearing something over his face. What exactly? You can't tell. And quite frankly you don't care. The only thing you can see of him besides his thick arms are his piercing eyes from behind the hood.

Panic is an understatement. You let out a startled sound and kick yourself into the next gear. Your leisurely run turns into a mad dash to anywhere but where you're at.

Then came the yelp, and holy mother of God if König thought you were fast before he was sorely mistaken. He watches in disbelief as you reach speeds he'd only seen in African wildlife.

“Wait!” He shouts, his voice almost a sharp screech.

Why is she running? His gigantic German speaking self asks as he picks up his pace, really needing to work for it now.

Then it hit him.

A lone woman in civilian clothes, running alone in the woods, with him a 6’10 Austrian wearing a sniper hood chasing after her.

She thinks I'm going to kill her the thought slams into him.

At this point they've been running for quite some time. Far too long to quit. No, no, no. He was too far into this. He couldn't just…stop. The situation was too strange. Could be really give up and risk something actually being wrong with her?

His heart lurched as he realized the terror she must be feeling. He didn't want to hurt her, but how could he tell her that?

“Wait!” His German accent rang out through the woods “n-not hurt!” Is all he could think to say in slightly broken English, still very much sprinting after the poor woman.

“No danger!” He tried again.

“Do you need assistance?!”

You're still running, veering sharply to the left well ahead of him and skidding down a hill. König was all out of languages. He launches himself down the hill and slides to a stop.

The tree branch actually shatters in your fingers. And he could tell by the look on your face you didn't think that would happen. Wincing from the fresh blow, König comes to a complete halt and raises his gloved hands.

“Wait, wait, ja?” He says, his chest heaving. “My, you are fast…” he wheezes.

Yes, actually wheezes. You'd given him quite the workout, and the blow to the head wasn't helping, nor was his anxiety.

His voice is enough to give you pause. You're holding the other end of the broken branch like a baseball bat, ready in case he tries to lunge.

You weren't expecting his voice to be so…shrill. You watch him as he bends over slightly, his chest wheezing.

“I..I didn't…I just,” he stutters, “I saw you sprinting and I thought somesing was wrong,” He says between breaths, the sniper hood practically waterboarding him with his own sweat.
