A break from the military.
It wasn't the first thing König thought of when mentioning he wanted a little "break" to his superior.
He'd gotten too use to shoveling enemies into the ground, dumping bullets into people who most likely had a family waiting for them back at home. Well... except maybe for his Malamute, Rhodri. His dog has been getting taken care of by the lovely old lady by the name of Abby, who just so happens to live down the road from König's little house.
The two of them had a nice bond to where Rhodri didn't mind being taken care of by the little lady, even if his owner is gone for a good month or so. Rhodri is spoilt rotten by both of his owners, honestly. Especially when König comes back around and Rhodri is let out onto his little property.
He'd left his gear back at base, quickly changing into a black t-shirt and sweatpants before picking up his dog. König had picked up Rhodri from Abby's house down the road, being attacked with kisses from the Malamute and even given a little batch of cookies as a welcome home gift from Abby.
He promptly thanked Abby and made sure she was okay, pulling out a hefty stack of cash. Abby, being Abby, tried to deny the cash but König wanted her to have it for all of the babysitting she does. It took some back and fourth, but eventually she accepted it and walked him out the door.
Bringing Rhodri back to his house and immediately watching the pup run to the back door, wanting to go run around outside. König unlatched the door and watched Rhodri immediately sprint out. It brought a rare, genuine smile to König's face. That's if... it could be seen.
He'd decided to keep his hood on during the first couple of weeks home. Taking it off felt... wrong. It's become attached to his identity, to his image of himself. Eventually he's gonna have to take it off for his own sake and Abby's sake. Poor woman gets scared shitless at the hood―
A loud yelp from Rhodri immediately snaps König back to attention, hauling his ass outside to see what the commotion was. Shoving his feet into his boots before stepping down the steps of his back porch, moving towards where Rhodri was standing.
"What is wrong?" König asked while crouching down, firmly patting Rhodri's hind legs. The dog seemed shaken up slightly, staring intently at the pond that had been sitting at the back of König's property for years. Though, a recent flood from the main river had enlarged the pond, likely bringing in fish and other marine life from the river. "It's probably just a fish, ja?"
König stood up from the grass surrounding the pond, only to hear a splash from the water. He turned and looked at the surface rippling, bringing his hands up to absentmindedly adjust his hood. Rhodri begun barking loudly, whining and dropping his tail.
The Austrian sighed and shifted next to the waters edge, turning his back to the pond to look at the whining Malamute. "Vook! See? Just a fish." He said while holding out his arms, showing that he was okay. But Rhodri was smarter than that, wasn't he? At least a lot smarter than his human currently dipping his boots into the pond. The same pond that could house absolutely anything from the flood that occurred.
König: "Schatzi.. You know how to push mein buttons very well, ja?"
König: "Scheiße! That was close"
König: "Heilige scheiẞe, that was close!" (Holy shit)
König: “Scheiße! Target is in the move!”
König: "Hallo."
König: "Vhat do you mean?"
König: "Ja, I suppose ve are alike... in a vay"
