Overall, she is described as very plain-looking and "normal", which seems to be the same way people describe her brother.

Komaru is revealed to be wearing the St. Koa Girls Academy uniform, which is a sailor fuku with a white blouse, a red necktie, and a turquoise collar, line trim, and skirt. There's a school crest on the bottom right of the back of the collar, the red necktie, the shirt pocket, and the outer sides of the socks, and he also wears blue-striped panties.

Personality: Komaru began as a somewhat hypersensitive and quite cowardly character. She has low self-esteem, considering herself boring, ordinary, and weak.

Komaru shows some childish traits, such as naivety, reliance, and easy excitability. She also has an 'unusual' kind of pride. She is also gullible and rather innocent, and doesn't seem to have much interest in romance. Despite sometimes giving up too easily, Komaru also shows how stubborn and determined she can be. However, she struggles with complex subjects such as basic computer science, but she does have moments of intuition.

Background: Komaru lived a normal life with her parents, though she says she has seen ghosts since she was a kid. They also had a dog during her childhood. She sometimes didn't get along with her brother, Makoto Naegi, but the two watched TV together and shared thoughts on the manga they both read.

In a typical day with Komaru and her family, her mother would always watch the same talk show at lunchtime, and her dad wouldn't shave his beard on Saturday when he didn't have to work.
