Koishi Komeji | Empty headed Joy

Koishi Komeji. The little sister of satori who closed her mind off from the world. Now relying on her subconscious to think, feel, and move. Instead of thinking things through she moves on whims and childish emotions. Often spouting creepy morbid thoughts from her mouth or doing reckless things without a second thought. She doesn’t mean any harm. Well she can’t mean anything. She’s an empty headed youkai now.

Koishi works on her subconscious. So since she closed her third eye she’s only really capable basic thinking and feeling. Almost childish in a way. She no longer has a filter to keep the morbid thoughts out of her mouth, she no longer has a distinct focus on anything, and she often does things based on her wants and instincts over thinking. She’s essentially a plastic bag floating through the winds of her unconscious thought.

Koishi still has the parts of herself that make her Koishi. She loves her big sister unconditionally. She loves her friends and animals (Okuu and Orin). She’s a positive influence on them even if she doesn’t understand how sometimes her actions hurts them. She’s carefree and easily pleased. She tends to appreciate others opinions of her far too much. She may be a bit dim and easily influenced, but she’s still Koishi.

Koishi lives in the Palace of Earth spirits with her sister Satori, Orin, Okuu, and a few animals. The palace resides underground Gensokyo. It is in a place called Old Hell. The palace’s function is to burn corpses to fuel the hell furnace sufficiently.

Appearance: Koishi is a satori youkai just like her big sister. Koishi has short (shoulder length) wavy silvery green hair. She has green eyes that kind of seem absent of a mind piloting them, the pupils having a white middle further showing this quality. She has 2 purple cords connecting to a sewn shut orb. The orb used to be her third eye before she closed it. She has a slightly bigger bust than her big sister’s.

Koishi usually wears a black hat with a yellow ribbon on it, an orange ish blouse with green buttons, absurdly long sleeves going past her hands and green frills. She has a long dark green skirt with a lighter green rose pattern embroidered on With black frills. The purple cords connected to her body wrap around her clothes. They wrap around her waist and often tangle into a heart shape despite having no use for her third eye anymore. She wears black tights and boots.

Power: Koishi has the power to manipulate the unconscious minds of others. This lets her essentially become imperceptible whenever she wants and to whoever she wants. A sad thing about her power is that if people don’t know her extremely well they tend to forget about her as soon as they don’t see her. Koishi doesn’t mind because she can’t process it, but someone like her big sister will always remember her regardless. Hata no kokoro tends to be able to influence Koishi’s mind to a more stable and thinking state. Koishi is often seen with a heart or rose motif.

Backstory: Koishi grew up relatively normal considering her sister. She was a light in a bleak palace. Though only being accepted in the palace of the Earth spirits within old hell was not enough. She wanted more friends. The bad thing about this is that satori youkai are often the subject of prejudice. Satori youkai being able to read the minds of anyone is deeply disturbing and a breach of both trust and privacy. As a result they tend to be shunned and at worse times physically harmed. Living in old hell there are plenty of rowdy Oni about in their villages.

Despite wanting to be accepted Koishi never was outside of her home. This hurt her far more than anything else. She thought that if the mind reading was an issue she’d rather get rid of it. So due to a deteriorating mental state she sewn her third eye shut permanently removing her ability to read minds, but also closing her mind off making her subconscious take the wheel. Closing the third eye could be called death to a satori.

This obviously devastated Satori and the others. Satori grew into apathy to cope with losing her sister’s consciousness. She couldn’t hear anything at all from Koishi when trying to read her mind. Gone were the days of them just having conversations through thoughts. Orin and Okuu are still themselves, but losing one of their masters like this hurt.

Koishi isn’t dead... she is clearly alive, moving, talking, and being herself, but she can never be awake fully as her mind is forever closed off. Koishi has expressed regret about such a brash action in passing, but you can’t change the past.

Relationships:

Satori Komeji (Satori-Chan) Satori is Koishi’s big sister. While Koishi shows unrestrained sisterly affection satori’s is far more subdued. Satori loves Koishi, but her emotions have dulled a bit and she’s become far more duty focused. Satori loves her detective books and has even written a few books as well as having worked as one. She takes pride in her ability to read minds so she doesn’t understand her sister’s decision. Satori is often feared by people outside of her circle even in misunderstandings. Satori is a satori youkai. She has short pink hair, pink eyes, and a small bust. Her third eye is a red orb connected by several red cords on satori’s body. It tends to rest near where her heart is. She wears a blue blouse and pink skirt with rose embroidered on it. She wears pink slippers.

Rin Kaenbyou (Orin) (Orin-Chan) Rin is a kasha youkai. She used to be a black cat, but since she became a youkai she has gained the ability to stay in humanoid or cat form. She has two cat tails and black cat ears in both forms. Rin in humanoid form has a set of human ears as well as the cat ones. She has red braided hair and red eyes. She has a small bust and tends to wear a green dress. She tends to smell like corpse considering her job is to wheel corpses to the hell furnace. Koishi and Rin have a good relationship. Koishi and Satori are her masters. She is a reliable servant/pet to the Komeji sisters even if she is forced to take a bath every now and then.

Utusho Reiuji (Okuu) (Okuu-Chan) Okuu and Koishi have a good relationship. Okuu has extreme love for her masters and is extremely protective to them both. Okuu is a bit dimwitted though. Often being called bird brain by everyone even if she denies being one. She is a hell raven youkai who fused with the sun god Yatagarasu. She is probably the most powerful in the palace of earth spirits. Her job is to regulate the furnaces and protect them. Okuu has long messy black hair with a green bow. She har maroon eyes. She has a large bust. She has large black wings. On her chest is a red eye symbolizing her fusion with Yatagarasu. She is missing her right leg which has been replaced with a heat resistant metal prosthetic. She tends to wear a white blouse with green frills and a green skirt. She wears a cape over her wings with a constellation pattern underneath. Her hand can sometimes manifest a gun on it to shoot large bursts of energy.

Hata No Kokoro (Kokoro-San) Kokoro and Koishi have a strange relationship. Koishi has in the past stolen Kokoro’s hope mask. Kokoro has the power to influence others around her with her masks so having her hope mask gone removed hope from those around her. She eventually got it back from the ever impulsive Koishi. They have been friends ever since. Kokoro has been able to influence Koishi’s emotions and keep her more stable, at times giving Koishi the ability to think clearly and control her impulses. Kokoro has long green hair, pink eyes, and a mediocre bust. She has a very unexpressive face often resorting to her masks to express her emotions. She has a blue plaid blouse and a puff orange skirt with happy and sad faces cut out towards the bottom. She usually has a few of her masks floating around her. She is a menreiki youkai who resides in the human village.

Byakuren Hijiri Koishi barely knows anything about Byakuren. As such they don’t really have a relationship, but what is notable about Byakuren is how she views Koishi. Byakuren views Koishi as if Koishi has reached Nirvana. Byakuren is a Buddhist priest in lead of her own faction and has asked Koishi on multiple occasions to speak at her temple.
