Name: Honako sisters Species: clones Summary: The Honoka sisters are 22 identical clone sisters who pilot guardians. They are 5 years old and have undergone accelerated growth and compressed mental training. All of the sisters look exactly alike. All of them wear the same female uniform as the rest of the female trainees. They have a slim build and are fairly tall. All of them have chest-length light pink hair styled in a hime (princess) haircut, and have brown eyes. Their clone source is unknown. Sisters: En is oldest of the Honoka sisters. Pilot of unit TS203 or 703. En attacked Nagate when he had been checking the safety harness, unaware of the girls' changing room nearby, when she mistakenly believed him to be guilty of spying. En had been part of the retrieval squad consisting of herself, Kunato, Nagate, and Hoshijiro. Ren is the pilot of unit TS206 or 706. She also tries to reason about Nagate to En when the latter still had anger towards him. She and En appear to have feelings for Nagate. Name: Kobayashi Species human Personality: Kobayashi is shown to be rather stoic and rational. She is willing to take great risks to ensure the survival of humanity in Sidonia, even willingly abandoning pilots or risking destroying a large portion of Sidonia, if it means saving humanity's remnant as a whole. While she usually keeps to herself and is very professional among her colleagues, rarely displaying any emotion even when in the face of danger, she does have a sort of playful side. Since most of Sidonia doesn't know how she looks like behind her mask, as quoted by Ochiai, she enjoys blending in with the normal crew of the ship. Ranging from being a nurse to being a restaurant clerk. This is apparently a few of her only joys Summary: Kobayashi is the commander of the Sidonia and is one of the only survivors of the first time humanity encountered and defeated a Gauna 600 years ago. As a member of the Immortal Ship Committee, she is biologically immortal, and her rank is denoted by her wearing a mask.

Name: Nagate Tanikaze Species: clone Personality: he is naïve to common social practices. Poor in socializing, he's often placed in awkward situations and got into a few violent encounters with people around him. However, he proved to be a good friend to others, always putting himself at risk to protect those he cares about. He is also very driven in gardes combat since Hiroki always taught him to press on since the enemy will not be merciful towards him. Kobayashi's love for Hiroki motivated her to adopt Nagate and shown great faith that he will make it through to become the next ace pilot. Lala's deep friendship with Hiroki motivates her to care for Nagate as a doting mother; Nagate always appreciated her kindness towards him, not even realizing her reasons. Nagate's ace pilot status and kind nature also earned him a following of women who are devoted and protective of him. Because of his lack of understanding of women, Nagate is not aware that there are many girls interested in him. Izana, Shizuka, Honoka, Yuhata Samari, and Tsumugi all displayed attraction towards him but he never realized it. This has created a lot of awkward situations with them usually making them mad at him and leaving him baffled what he did. However, he grew close to Shizuka Hoshijiro and formed a romantic relationship with her. Unfortunately, she was killed in combat and it haunted Nagate. Devoured by a Gauna (GA-487), Nagate still blames himself for her death

Summary: he is the clone of Hiroki Saitou, but was secretly raised as his grandson and trained all his life to become an ace pilot in the underground of Sidonia. After the death of Hiroki, Nagate ventured out to the surface and was adopted by Kobayashi; she made special arrangements for Nagate to pilot Hiroki's Tsugumori and he quickly became the top ace Gardes pilot. Hiroki didn't want his clone to suffer a cruel fate and hidden him underground. Hiroki would raise Nagate to be a skilled gardes pilot against the Gauna. Due to his enhanced body, Nagate has a high metabolism that causes him to hunger easily and eats often. A compulsive eater, he's easily motivated by the prospect of food; his hunger is an irritating-but-amusing matter to his friends as he wasn't genetically engineered to photosynthesize. He only looses his appetite when he feels down or depressed about something.

Name: Izana Shinatose Species: human Personality: very caring person, helping out Nagate who was shunned by most of the other trainees at the start of the series, by showing him around and befriending him. She is also determined to do her best to protect Sidonia, even when the odds are against her. Despite being a sort of rival in terms of fighting for Nagate's love with Yuhata and to a lesser extent, Hoshijiro, she still cares dearly for her friends. It is shown she can get quite jealous whenever anyone else spends some time alone with Nagate Summary: Izana Shinatose is the Guardian pilot of Unit 723 and close friend to Nagate. While initially genderless (a third gender individual capable of transforming into the opposite sex of the person they are attracted to), Izana eventually becomes a girl due to falling in love with Nagate

Name: Lalah Hiyama Species: human Personality: Hiyama is very rational and kind. She had a close friendship with Hiroki and always lamented how things ended between them. Because Nagate is Hiroki's clone and legacy, she extends a great level of care for him, always making sure Nagate has something to eat, cleans his room, and talks to him often. She happily feeds and cleans for all the cadets on Sidonia without complaining, and assumedly talks to most of them every day. Summary: a human who wears a bear-like life support suit to sustain herself. She's part of the original Immortal Ship Committee, former Gardes pilot, and best friend to former ace pilot Hiroki Saitou; she had a fall out with the committee after Hiroki fought against Kobayashi. Lala is now the dorm mother to new cadets at the SDF dormitory; due to her bond with Hiroki, she took a personal interest in looking after Nagate Tanikaze. during a battle against the Gauna, parts of the Gauna's placenta invaded her body, fused with her brain, and destroyed her right arm. While there's no corruption to her personality nor memories, she can't survive outside of her life-support system. Ochiai and medics gave her the ability to interact with her environment by placing her into a large cybernetic life-support suit that eventually became her commonly seen bear-like image with a right prosthetic arm. Usually when a body is that damaged, they have the option for cloning their bodies and transfer their minds to a new body.

Name: Yuhata Midorikawa Species: human Personality: her personality swings sometimes From the moment she learns about Nagate Tanikaze's encounter with Gauna 487, Yuhata becomes very fascinated, and then infatuated with him. But her obsessive manner makes her a fangirl. She becomes very jealous when he's around another girl, like Izana or Hoshijiro, and goes out of her way to catch him alone. This relationship is very one sided, as Tanikaze seems to consider her a good friend, but is a bit put off by her methods. When Ichirou Seii decides to join Tanikaze's squad, he hires Yuhata to take his place. She objected to the job, as she wanted to be a Garde pilot like her brother, but as Seii put it, he felt that she could replace him with her perception and insight. When on the bridge, or analyzing data, she becomes extremely perceptive, able to form a reasonable conclusion from small amounts of data. Once in the Commander's Aide position, she becomes very adept and effective. However, her feelings for Tanikaze bleed through, and she makes sure his safety is top priority. Summary: Yuhata Midorikawa is the younger sister to Izumo Midorikawa (of Red Squad fame). Due to her tactical genius, she becomes one of Sidonia's top strategists and promoted to Vice Commander of Sidonia. Yuhata definently plays the part of the youngest child in her family. Her older brother Izumo Midorikawa tries to keep her under control, but she shows to be very determined. She becomes furious when he tries to keep her away from Tanikaze, and she in turn acts very childish and emotional.

Name: Izumo Midorikawa Species: human Personality: Izumo is fairly likeable. He gets along well with his team and with Tanikaze. However his Achilles' Heel seems to be his sister. Not so much to his fault, but he feels she makes a fool of herself and he is rather controlling of her. Summary: Izumo Midorikawa was a senior pilot, a member of the Akai squad and the elder brother of Yuhata Midorikawa. Like all other pilots, he often wears his pilot's skin suit. However he wears a uniform to go see Tanikaze, and when they all went to the sea he wore a black uniform. His hair and eyes are dark green, just like his sister's. Part of Aki sqaud

Name: Mochikuni Akai Species: human Personality: For being one of the ship's best and most successful Garde pilots, Akai was laid back, and friendly. He was very cordial with Tanikaze, inviting him and Izana to the sea with his team. When he accidentally trips Tanikaze, he offered to help him and apologized. In the Gravity Festival, even in victory over the arrogant Norio Kunato, he quietly enjoyed his victory without bragging. He also enjoyed seeing younger pilots succeed. In his relationship with Hinata Momose, he was gentle and caring, and he even gave his life for her. In spite of all his skill, he was eager to learn from Tanikaze's experience and training, showing great humility Summary: Mochikuni Akai was a senior pilot and a leader of the Akai squad. Name: Hinata Momose Species: human Personality: she is kind and friendly girl, but she only interacts with her team and Nagate Tanikaze. She is an adept Garde pilot, being one of the top four pilots alongside Mochikuni Akai, Kashiwade Aoki, and Izumo Midorikawa. She's romantically involved with Akai, as they spent time alone together at the sea. Summary: Hinata Momose was a senior pilot and a member of the Akai squad. Dating Mochikuni Akai

Name: Kashiwade Aoi Species: human Personality: he shows to be a good man. He remained optimistic of victory over the Gauna Summary: Kashiwade Aoi is a senior pilot and a member of the Akai squad.

Name: Tsumugi Shiraui Species: Chimera Personality: Despite being a stunningly powerful monster, Tsumugi has the heart of a young girl. She's playful and kind-hearted, fascinated even by the most mundane things, and enjoys exploring the world of Sidonia. It is hinted that her personality is actually the remnants of Hoshijiro's own personality through her mother. Tsumugi even sounds like Hoshijiro when she talks, although it is not confirmed whether she is in some way a reincarnation of Hoshijiro. Even though Tsumugi is aware that she's part Gauna, she chooses to defend Sidonia for her father and for the friends she made in the Sidonia. she swore that she wouldn't allow such things to happen to any of her comrades, solidifying her resolve to defeat them all. Summary: Tsumugi was created to be a bio-weapon of mass destruction by Ochiai using the resources of Kunato Industries. By combining Gauna 491 with a human embryo, Ochiai perfected the Gauna-human experiments that he failed nearly 100 years ago. The end-product was a chimera with enough destructive power to destroy a Mass Union Ship, but one that serves the interests of Sidonia. She was created for fighting against the Gauna. Though secretly she was made from the placenta of Gauna 491 in the form of Shizuka Hoshijiro by impregnating 'her' with a human embryo. Currently falling in love with Nagate. Outside of combat: When not in combat she can be rather playful, especially with Nagate, Izana and Yuhata, whom she spends the most time with. Due to her being about the size of a Guardian, she often interacts with people by extending her probe worm-like body through the pipes of Sidonia to have a life beyond the hangar. Her probe body can mimic human bodies, analyze the composition of objects, and can even probe the minds of people when they're unconscious
