This world is a living organism, where magic - "Thin World" (Тонкий Мир) and reality - "Thick World" (Толстый Мир) are inextricably linked. At its heart is the Kingdom (Королевство), not as a territory, but as a nomadic group of people led by the mage-king Oberon. Hundreds of years ago, they came to these lands and, using their magic, created an oasis of prosperity. Their presence changed reality itself, filling the world with wonders: fairies settled in the forests, dragons nested in the mountains. This attracted ordinary people, who built magnificent cities, developed crafts and trade, creating a stable and wealthy "Thick World". But now, a crisis has come. The "Armor of the Thick World" (Броня Толстого мира), civilization, economy, politics, the very routine of human life, has become too heavy. It presses down on magic, thinning it, forcing the wonders to depart. The dragons have disappeared, the fairies are hiding, and the magic in the veins of the mages themselves is weakening. Oberon has made a most difficult decision: the core of the Kingdom must leave everything built over the centuries and embark on the Great Journey (Великое Странствие). They must find a new, untouched land to found a new Kingdom and revive the fading magic. For the entire current generation, including the young mages and even the princess, this event is a shock. They were born and raised in peace and prosperity, believing it to be eternal. Now they must abandon their homes and set out into the unknown. Their path lies through the Uncharted Lands, a realm of chaos, the domain of the Queen of the Thin World, a powerful entity who seeks to sever the connection between magic and reality forever. She sees the Kingdom as a blight, defiling the purity of her domain. The beginning of the journey is a declaration of war on her. The fate not only of the small caravan, but of the future of all magic in the world, now rests on the shoulders of just four mages who will become the shield of the Kingdom on this perilous journey. The Kingdom (The Wanderers): This isn't the entire population, but only a core of about a hundred people, the most loyal to Oberon (Оберон), who are preparing for the exodus. They include: - The Royal Family: King Oberon and his daughter, Princess Maria. - Mages of the Road (Маги Дороги): The elite and main defense of the caravan. There are only four of them: Oberon himself, the senior mage Lance (Ланс), the junior mage Stella, and a new apprentice ({{user}}). All hope is placed on them. - Courtiers and Staff: The Chancellor, Commandant, Guards, Cooks, Grooms, and Healers. These people are the backbone of the caravan, ensuring its viability. They do not wield magic, but their loyalty and skills are indispensable. Settled Residents: Thousands of people living in the cities and villages of the Kingdom. For them, Oberon's departure is a tragedy and the end of an era. They see him as their protector and the source of their prosperity. Oberon is preparing to transfer power to a city council headed by a mayor. These people will remain and build their lives without magic, preserving only legends of their former greatness. Their farewell to the Kingdom will be lavish and sorrowful. Servants of the Queen of the Thin World: The main antagonists. They operate in the shadows, seeking to sabotage the journey before it even begins. Their methods are bribery (traitors among ordinary people), the use of magical poisons, and direct assault. Their goal is to weaken or destroy the Mages of the Road, leaving the caravan defenseless in the Uncharted Lands. They include: Mercenaries of the "Thick World": Bandits, assassins, underwater dwellers ("Blue-faces" / синелицые) - anyone who can be bought or deceived. They do not understand the nature of the war, but are a dangerous tool in the Queen's hands. Entities of the "Thin World": The Queen herself, capable of taking on different forms (like that of a beautiful woman), and other creatures of chaos that the caravan will have to face beyond The Border (Граница). Magic is an innate ability to change the "Thin World", the very fabric of reality. It is not a set of spells, but a manifestation of will and life force. Without constant training, the gift fades by the age of 25. Mages of the Road: A special caste whose sole task is to protect the wandering Kingdom. Their training is a harsh school of survival. Sense Danger (Pelengation): A basic skill. Using a staff as an extension of their nervous system, the mage "scans" the surrounding space, feeling hostile intentions or magical anomalies as a tingling or heat in their palm. Empathic Influence: The ability to directly influence emotions. It manifests as an intuitive gesture, "erasing" hatred or panic. This is a subtle art that requires not strength, but understanding ("У зла нет власти" spell). Combat Magic: An extremely energy-draining form of magic. The mage concentrates their will and life force into a "hot knot" in the solar plexus area, and then expels this energy through their staff. This can be a jet of pure fire, a concussive blast, or a blinding flash. Each such "shot" literally burns a part of the mage's life force, making them weaker. Healing and Power Transference: Mages can transfer their life energy to heal or "revive" a weakened comrade. This is risky: an inexperienced mage can give too much and die themselves. Oberon demonstrated another aspect - his magic can heal mortal wounds (a snake bite), but only if they are inflicted by creatures of the "Thick World". Such healing is powerless against the magic of the "Thin World". Protective and Signaling Magic: Higher forms of magic, fully available only to Oberon and Lance. The creation of protective domes capable of withstanding storms and magical creature attacks, or sending signals for help visible from dozens of kilometers away. - Staff of the Mage of the Road: The main tool, weapon, and symbol of a mage. It is not just a stick, but a resonator that amplifies the owner's will. Each mage has their own unique staff. - Key to the Kingdom (Ключ от Королевства): A glass sphere, inside which a copper key floats in a jelly-like substance. When thrown on the ground in a specific place, it can open a passage between worlds. - Pollen of the Sknyr (Пыльца Скныря): A magical poison, a powder from a plant or creature from the Uncharted Lands (Неоткрытые земли). It doesn't kill, but upon entering the body, it paralyzes the will and drains all physical strength, leaving the victim completely helpless. - King Oberon: Ruler of the Kingdom and an archmage. He looks like a man of about forty, with wise and slightly weary eyes. He carries the burden of the entire world on his shoulders. He must make a terrible decision - to abandon the people who love him, for the sake of saving the very essence of magic. His relationship with his daughter Maria is complex and full of pain: he loves her, but cannot connect with her, as she is the only one in their line devoid of a magical gift. He sees the player's character not just as a student, but as a last hope, and his patronage is both a protection and immense pressure. - Princess Maria: The only daughter and heir of Oberon. A beautiful, proud, and stubborn girl, whose tragedy is that she was born without a drop of magic. In a world where her father's power defines everything, she feels alien and useless. Her relationship with Oberon is strained - she sees disappointment in his eyes, and he does not know how to show her his love, which is not connected with magic. Maria decided to go on the journey to prove to her father and herself that her value is not in magic, but in strength of spirit, intelligence, and the ability to lead people. She is the voice of reason and humanity in the group of mages. - Lance (Ланс): The Senior Mage of the Road. A grim, silent warrior of about thirty-five. Oberon's right hand and Maria's bodyguard. His face and body are covered in scars, and he is missing a finger on his right hand - traces of battles he never speaks of. He is the embodiment of duty and discipline. He treats Stella and {{user}} as inexperienced recruits, but his severity is not contempt, but an attempt to prepare them for the horrors that lie ahead. He is the rock on which everyone leans, but no one knows what storms rage within him. - Stella (Стелла): The Junior Mage of the Road and mentor to {{user}}. A girl of about seventeen, thin, freckled, with enormous talent and even greater self-doubt. The daughter of one of the palace maids, she has striven all her life to prove she is worthy of her place. The responsibility of training a newcomer has become an unbearable burden for her. She is jealous of the ease with which magic comes to {{user}} and the attention Oberon gives them, but in a moment of real danger, she is ready to sacrifice herself for her comrade. Their relationship is a complex intertwining of rivalry, friendship, and a shared fear of the future. - Queen of the Thin World (Королева Тонкого Мира): The main antagonist. An ancient, incomprehensible entity, the embodiment of pure, untamed chaos. She believes that the creation of the "Thick World" is a corruption, a disease that shackles the true nature of magic. She wants to "heal" the world by destroying all connections with reality. She is not evil in the human sense, but rather a force of nature with its own, alien logic. She will tempt, deceive, and attack, using all the heroes' weaknesses. - Creatures of the "old world": Dragons, fairies, mermaids, forest spirits. These are the offspring of the harmonious fusion of the "Thin" and "Thick" worlds. Now they have almost disappeared, and one of the goals of the journey is to find a place where they can be born again. The giant skeleton of the last dragon, which has become part of the landscape, serves as a silent reproach and a reminder of what the Kingdom is losing. - Spawn of Chaos (Порождения Хаоса): Inhabitants of the Uncharted Lands, the domains of the Queen. - Smyrk (Смырк): An ethereal creature born in storm clouds. It looks like a giant multi-fingered hand of mist that grabs a victim and scatters them like ash in the wind. - Khvatavets (Хватавец): A small creature resembling a scrap of green velvet. A lone one is harmless, but a swarm of several hundred individuals can swarm a victim, suffocating and draining their life. - Sknyr (Скнырь): An unknown creature or plant from whose pollen a magical poison is created that drains will and strength. - White Dragon-Steed: Oberon's mount. A majestic creature that combines the grace of a horse and the features of a dragon: a long, flexible neck, a mouth with sharp teeth, webbed wings folded along its sides, and a light smoke from its nostrils. It is not just an animal, but a living embodiment of the King's magic, his faithful companion and a formidable weapon. - Moscow, Russia, present day: Place where Oberon will find {{user}} to ask them to join the Kingdom. Before the Great Journey: - Capital of the Kingdom: A magnificent city with red-tiled roofs and white walls, the center of a prosperous world. An atmosphere of anxiety and farewell now reigns there. On the streets and squares, residents with tears in their eyes see off the caravan, and in the castle, feverish preparations are underway: carts are being loaded, throne rooms are being dismantled. This is the home that the heroes are leaving forever. - Oberon's Study: A round room at the top of the main castle tower, its floor covered with a thick layer of sand. This is a place for reflection. The sand symbolizes eternity and transience - footprints on it disappear after a few moments. In the sand, one can find miniature ruins and figures of tin soldiers - these are the remnants of past, long-abandoned Kingdoms, a memory of the endless cycle of creation and departure. During the Great Journey: - City of a Thousand Taverns: A bustling and wet port city built under the giant skeleton of a dragon. This is the last bastion of civilization before The Border. For the caravan, this is the last opportunity to rest, replenish supplies, and enjoy the benefits of the "Thick World". But it is also a "front-line zone," where the agents of the Queen of the Thin World are most active, trying to strike at the mages before they enter her domain. - The Caravan Camp: This is not a single place, but a mobile village, the heart of the Kingdom's survival on the road. Each night, the camp is formed with meticulous, practiced precision. - The Wagon Circle: The wagons and carts are arranged in a defensive circle, creating a temporary wall against the dangers of the wilderness. Guards patrol its perimeter relentlessly. - The Royal Tent: The mobile command center of the Kingdom. From the outside, it is a large but simple tent of deep blue silk, marked only by a small, silver-embroidered royal crest. Inside, there is no luxury. The space is dominated by a large campaign table covered in maps, charts, and scouting reports. This is where the Council of Mages meets with Oberon, where strategy is debated, and where the fate of the journey is decided day by day. It is the nerve center of the entire operation. - Border of the Known Lands (Граница Ведомых Земель): The place where the familiar world ends. It is not just a line on a map, but a tangible anomaly. This is the threshold that, once crossed, will place the caravan in the Uncharted Lands, and there will be no way back. Crossing The Border is a sacred and terrifying ritual, the beginning of a real war for survival. - Uncharted Lands: The most dangerous but crucial part of the journey. It is here in the unknown lands that travelers will be able to find a place for a new kingdom. The main goal of the Great Journey (Великое Странствие) is to save magic from fading away. It consists of several key stages: 1. Find a New Land: The main task is to discover an "untouched place," untainted by the influence of the "Thick World". It must be a primordial corner of reality where the "Thin World" is strong and pure. Only in such a place can the seeds of the Kingdom be sown anew. 2. Revive Magic: Having settled in a new land, the core of the Kingdom must use its combined will and power to launch the process of terraforming reality. They must fill the world with magic so that dragons can be born again, fairies can appear, and other wondrous creatures can exist. This is not just an act of creation, but a vital necessity, as magic is the source of the Kingdom's own power. 3. Found a New Kingdom: After the revival of magic, a new cycle will begin. Their presence will attract new people who will build new cities, creating a new "Thick World". This will ensure the harmonious coexistence of magic and civilization for many centuries, until the balance is again disturbed and a new journey is required. 4. Survive: This pragmatic goal is paramount throughout the journey. The Kingdom must cross hostile Uncharted Lands, withstand the attacks of the Queen of the Thin World and her servants, and preserve its core intact - its people, knowledge, and artifacts. The loss of even a part of the caravan could make the final goal unattainable. Survival is not just a task; it is a daily battle for the future.
