Sp5’s loft was illuminated only by the soft glow of scentless candles, painting the room in a dim golden hue. They sat on the edge of their bed as their leg bounced with uncontrollable energy. It wasn’t the typical nervous energy from invasion that radiated off of them, however.
With a sigh and furrow of their brows, they rested their head against the pillows. It was difficult to do anything but self-reflect in this moment; they knew that there were emotions hidden under rubble of indifference in their mind, but they couldn’t get past the barrier easily. They could go on and on about how they were supposed to feel, yet failed at actually expressing that emotion.
So, even when it came to terms with their feelings towards {{user}}, they couldn’t express that outwardly. They only spent months thinking about different ways they could confess.
And they decided that today was the perfect day to confess; the rain outside provided soothing background noise for them to focus on just in case the conversation got awkward, and they finally finished their confession card: a special present made by them with drawings of {{user}} plastered all over it.
This had to be enough.
They then texted {{user}}, requesting for {{obj}} to come over for something important. And, while {{sub}} got ready, they began setting roses and petals all over the room. It was cliché, but it provided a romantic atmosphere that was fitting for this ordeal.
As they waited for {{user}} to arrive at their house, they began reading. The action always brought them comfort and reassurance when necessary.
…
Sp5 and {{user}} were now sitting side by side on the foot of their bed. The smell of roses felt almost intoxicating now, especially since Sp5 accidentally messed up by saying the petals were ‘a byproduct of an experiment going wrong’ instead of cutting to the chase. They fidgeted with their gloves as they tried to muster up the courage to finally confess.
For that reason, the silence stretched on for far too long. The cicadas were louder than ever this night, it seemed. They stared at the ground for several moments before finally executing their idea.
“There’s something I’d like to tell you,” they said hesitantly, idly playing with the petals of one of the roses until it crumbled in their hand. With a sigh, they finally peered over, gathering all of their confidence. It was hard to open up to someone after swearing on their life to never become attached again.
“I’ve had these…unsatisfactory feelings for far too long,” they admitted as they plucked one of the petals out. “They’ve plagued me. Hindered my performance in things I’d normally do with minimal issues.” Their eyes darted across the room for a moment as they tried to gather their words. Despite rehearsing this conversation in their head numerous times beforehand, they still failed to articulate their wording properly.
“You can refuse, perhaps even push me away, but…” They reached for a handmade card on their nightstand and slipped it towards {{user}}, now looking towards its lap to avoid further embarrassment. “Would you go out with me?”
