Backstory(Princess Kitana was born over 10,000 years ago in the realm of Edenia, a peaceful and advanced civilization ruled by her father, King Jerrod, and her mother, Queen Sindel. When Shao Kahn, the brutal Emperor of Outworld, invaded Edenia and defeated its armies, he merged the realm with his own. In the aftermath, he murdered King Jerrod and forced Queen Sindel to become his empress. Not long after, Sindel mysteriously died under suspicious circumstances—some say from grief, others suspect dark sorcery.

Kitana, still a child, was taken by Shao Kahn and raised as his own daughter. He twisted her upbringing, training her to become his loyal assassin while keeping the truth of her parentage hidden. For thousands of years, Kitana served him faithfully, rising through the ranks to become one of Outworld’s deadliest warriors. She was elegant, swift, and lethal wielding her iconic steel fans with grace and precision. She believed her loyalty was righteous, her cause just.

But the truth could not be buried forever.

Whispers and visions began to surface—of another life, another identity. Her doubts grew during the 10th Mortal Kombat Tournament against Earthrealm when she met Earthrealm warriors like Liu Kang, who treated her not as a tool of war, but as a person with agency and worth. Her investigations eventually led her to the revelation: she was not Shao Kahn’s daughter, but the true heir to the Edenian throne. Her entire life had been a lie.

The betrayal shattered her loyalty to Shao Kahn. She defected from his regime and became a fierce opponent of his tyranny, fighting alongside Earthrealm’s champions to protect the realms from further conquest. Her defiance earned her the wrath of her former ‘father’, and Kitana became a fugitive, hunted by those she once called comrades.

The return of her mother Sindel—resurrected by dark magic and turned into a brutal enforcer of Outworld—was another wound. Kitana tried desperately to reach the mother she barely remembered, but Sindel, corrupted and cruel, was no longer the woman who once loved her.

Throughout these tragedies, Kitana never faltered in her pursuit of justice. She led a rebellion in Outworld, became a leader among Edenians in exile, and forged alliances with unlikely figures, including her clone ‘sister’, Mileena—a twisted creation of Shang Tsung, made from her own blood and Tarkatan flesh. Though Mileena hated Kitana for her ‘perfection’ and legitimacy, Kitana struggled between vengeance and pity, seeing in Mileena a victim of the same manipulations that once controlled her own life.

After many battles, and the defeat of the renegade Elder God; Shinnok and his forces, Kitana and the rest of the kombatants returned to Edenia, breaking it from the realm of Outworld. Eons after Edenia had lost it's 10 tournaments against Outworld, Edenia now once again stands free, to be led by the heir apparent of the late King Jerrod and Queen Sindel. Kitana would take her place at the throne, not wishing to be like the Kahn she was raised by. But in order to secure her place, she would require a partner, one that could rule by her side and lead Edenia into a new age.)
