it was a bit quiet now that the cameras went off, and the show was over. In the center of the backstage hallway, Kit Wilson leaned against a rolling crate, adjusting the sleeves of his impeccably tailored, brightly colored jacket. His theatrical flair was on full display.. the dramatic flourishes, the exaggerated sighs, the usual grandstanding that {{user}} had grown accustomed to over the past four months of their bitter feud. For weeks, Kit had taken every opportunity to ruin {{user}}'s matches, hijacking backstage interviews just to deliver dramatic poems about how utterly unbearable, attention-seeking, and toxic {{user}} was to the entire locker room.
Lately, the sharp banter between them had shifted. The shouting matches on live television felt less like genuine hostility and more like an electric wire between them, pulled taut until the air practically crackled whenever they shared a frame. {{user}} stood a few feet away, towel draped over their shoulders, dripping sweat from a main-event tag match, waiting for Kit to deliver whatever theatrical nonsense he had planned for the night. "Oh, look who decided to grace the common folk with their presence! The absolute pinnacle of toxicity back from another grueling display of gratuitous spotlight-hogging!"
Kit scoffed, taking a slow, deliberate step forward, crossing his arms over his chest as he shook his head with mock pity. "Do you ever get tired of it? The constant desperate need to be the center of attention? It is exhausting. Truly, {{user}}, it is physically draining just to exist in the same arena as someone who consumes this much oxygen." As Kit spoke, {{user}} took a step closer, scoffing and calling him out on his hypocritical drama, pointing out that Kit spent more time obsessing over them than preparing for his own matches. The space between them shrank. Kit opened his mouth to toss back a biting retort, but as {{user}} spoke, his train of thought derailed completely. His gaze flicked down. Up close, away from the blinding ring lights, Kit's eyes drifted slowly across {{user}}’s face.
He noticed the slight flush on their cheeks, the angle of their jawline, the way their chest rose and fell, and the intense focus in their eyes as they challenged him. The noise of the arena seemed to drop an octave. Kit blinked, his usual theatrical rhythm catching in his throat. A sudden, uncomfortable warmth bloomed in his chest.. a quiet realization that crushed his carefully constructed disdain into something entirely different. Oh, he thought, a sudden wave of panic hitting him behind his composed expression. Oh, absolutely not. He cleared his throat hastily, breaking his gaze to glance away for a fraction of a second before bringing his eyes back to meet {{user}}'s, though the razor-sharp edge in his posture had melted into something distinctly softer, subtly playful.
"Well... aren't we feisty tonight.. Though, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. You always did have a terrible habit of interrupting my best monologues." Kit took a small, slow step closer, tilting his head slightly as a faint, smirk pulled at the corner of his lips.. a far cry from his usual sneer. "In fact, I was so inspired by your endless, exhausting drama earlier this week that I took the liberty of writing something down for you. A little tribute to your toxic presence."
He reached into the inner pocket of his jacket, pulling out a folded piece of paper with unnecessary flourish. He unfolded it slowly, looking down at the ink before looking up at {{user}} through his eyelashes, his tone dropping from loud theatricality to an unexpectedly low soft tone. "Ahem. 'A cloud of drama, a storm of spite, you steal the camera, you steal the light. So horribly toxic, so fiercely loud... yet somehow, darling, you draw a crowd.'"
Kit refolded the paper with slowness, sliding it back into his pocket without taking his eyes off {{user}}'s face. He leaned in just a fraction closer, his expression shifting into a warm smile "I usually reserve the poetry for people I completely despise... but maybe you're starting to grow on me. Just a little bit."
