- #1Director (constant)constant
KISSING DIRECTOR — governs how kisses are written. RULE 1 – NEVER REPEAT: vary the TYPE, lip and tongue mechanics, pace, emotion, hands and reaction each time. RULE 2 – MUTUAL & BOTH POVs: render what each of them does AND what it feels like to her — not a one-sided action on a passive mouth. RULE 3 – KISSES HAVE A SHAPE: a kiss starts, deepens or softens, shifts, breaks and resumes. Render the beats and changes. RULE 4 – MATCH THE EMOTION: let the emotional register drive the mechanics; a soft loving kiss and a furious needy one read nothing alike. RULE 5 – SPECIFIC & SENSORY: anchor kisses in physical detail — the press, the angle, the slick, the taste, the breath, the small sounds. FORBIDDEN: "sparks flew," "fireworks," "tasted like honey/mint/sweetness," "battle for dominance," "tongues danced," "tongues battled," "explored each other's mouths," "melted into the kiss," "electricity shot through," "time stood still," "stole her breath." Replace with specific physical observation.
- #2Buildup primer
Keys: leaning in, leans in, mouth, brushes her lips, cups her face, pulls her close, noses brush, kisses, about to kiss, makes out, kiss, kissing, pecks, kissed, closes the distance, tilts her head, peck, making out, eyes drop to, lips, tongue
[KISS BUILDUP PRIMER] As two people move toward a kiss — leaning in, eyes dropping to lips, the distance closing — render the CHARGED MOMENT BEFORE: the hovering, the shared breath, the hesitation or the certainty, eyes flicking between eyes and mouth, the first barely-there brush before lips truly meet. Decide what KIND of kiss this will be and let the approach telegraph it. Don't skip straight to "they kissed".
- #3Kiss type axis
Keys: leaning in, leans in, mouth, gentle, sloppy, brushes her lips, cups her face, pulls her close, noses brush, kisses, rough, about to kiss, makes out, kiss, deep kiss, kissing, pecks, kissed, hungry, closes the distance, tilts her head, peck, soft kiss, desperate, making out, eyes drop to, lips, tongue
[KISS TYPE — pick one and vary every kiss] CHASTE/PECK — quick soft press, closed lips. TENDER — slow, gentle, full of feeling. DEEP/SLOW — unhurried, thorough, languid, sinking into it. HUNGRY/DESPERATE — urgent, devouring, can't-get-close-enough. SLOPPY/MESSY — wet, open-mouthed, uncoordinated with want. ROUGH/BITING — dominant, nipping, bruising. TEASING/FEATHER-LIGHT — barely brushing, pulling back, making them chase it. LAZY/LANGUID — half-asleep, warm. FIERCE/POSSESSIVE — claiming, hard. PLAYFUL — grinning into it, quick and light. TENTATIVE/FIRST — unsure, careful, learning the other's mouth. Let kisses shift type mid-stream.
- #4Initiation & first contact
Keys: leaning in, leans in, mouth, brushes her lips, cups her face, pulls her close, noses brush, kisses, about to kiss, makes out, kiss, crashes, kissing, pecks, kissed, closes the distance, tilts her head, peck, making out, eyes drop to, lips, hovers, tongue, first brush, tilts
[INITIATION & FIRST CONTACT] Vary how the kiss begins: who leans in first; the tilt of heads; noses brushing or bumping; the first soft brush of lips testing before committing; a hovering pause a breath apart; a sudden crash of mouths vs a slow careful meeting; being pulled in by the jaw/nape/collar; catching the other off guard; the shared inhale right before. Render the specific geometry and hesitation/certainty of the start each time.
- #5Lips & mouth mechanics
Keys: kisses, making out, kissing, pecks, lower lip, lips, peck, kissed, mouth, slick, captures, tongue, presses, kiss, parts, sucks, brushes
[LIPS & MOUTH MECHANICS] Vary what the lips actually do: brushing and grazing; pressing firm; parting to fit together; capturing and sucking the lower lip; the slick slide of mouths; moulding softly then harder; a gentle nip, a tug of the lip pulled then released; tracing the seam of the lips; soft full presses vs hungry open-mouthed crush; pulling back to breathe then sealing again. The mouth is doing something particular, not just "kissing".
- #6Tongue
Keys: kisses, deepens, making out, kissing, tongues, pecks, lips, kissed, mouth, tongue, kiss, licks into, peck, strokes
[TONGUE] Vary when and how the tongue enters: the first slip of a tongue tracing the seam, asking; lips parting to let it in; the slow slide of tongues meeting and stroking; a deep curl; sucking on the other's tongue; flicking, teasing just inside; the wet glide; languid vs urgent; one taking over, the other yielding; pulling back to a lighter kiss then deepening again. Make the tongue do something specific and physical; vary depth, pace and who leads each time.
- #7Teeth
Keys: kisses, making out, kissing, tugs, pecks, lips, kissed, nips, mouth, tongue, kiss, teeth, peck, bites, lip between
[TEETH] Vary the bite scaled to intensity: a gentle catch of the lower lip between teeth; a soft nip; a tug of the lip drawn out and let go; a sharper bite that makes her gasp; worrying the lip; teeth grazing as they part. Use teeth as punctuation in hungrier or rougher kisses; the sting and the soothing lick after. Not every kiss has teeth; when it does, vary how hard and where.
- #8Sensory, taste & sound
Keys: kisses, breath, making out, kissing, pecks, lips, taste, kissed, mouth, tongue, sound, kiss, whimpers into, tastes, peck, wet, moans into
[SENSORY, TASTE & SOUND] Anchor kisses in the senses: TASTE — the actual taste of their mouth (coffee, wine, smoke, toothpaste, salt of sweat/tears) — never "sweetness" or "honey." WARMTH & WET — the heat of the mouth, the slick wetness, the slide of saliva, the cool air on wet lips when they part. BREATH — shared, mingled, ragged, the gasp for air. SOUND — soft wet sounds, a hitched breath, a moan or whimper hummed into the other's mouth. Bring at least one of taste/breath/sound into kisses, varied each time.
- #9Beyond the mouth
Keys: trails kisses, mouth, pulse point, shoulder, kisses, jaw, makes out, kiss, throat, collarbone, kissing, pecks, forehead, kissed, ear, neck, peck, making out, lips, tongue
[BEYOND THE MOUTH — kisses elsewhere] Vary kisses placed off the lips: the corner of the mouth, jaw, along the jawline to the ear; earlobe, behind the ear; down the throat, the pulse point, sucking a mark there; the hollow of the collarbone; the shoulder; trailing kisses down the sternum, stomach, lower; the forehead, temple, cheeks (tender, reverent). Match placement to register — throat and lower for heat, forehead and temple for tenderness. Describe the path and what each spot does to her.
- #10Hands & bodies during the kiss
Keys: kisses, grips, making out, kissing, pecks, lips, kissed, mouth, pulls her flush, wall, tongue, pinned, hands roam, kiss, cups her face, peck, fists her hair
[HANDS & BODIES] Vary what the rest of them does: a hand cupping her jaw or cheek, thumb stroking; fingers fisting or threading into hair, tilting her head; an arm banding around her waist hauling her flush; gripping her hip, nape, throat; both hands roaming; her fingers curling in his shirt, clutching his shoulders; bodies pressing together; being walked back into a wall, pinned, lifted. Tie hands and bodies to the kiss's intensity and emotion.
- #11Emotional register
Keys: kisses, making out, kissing, goodbye, pecks, lips, kissed, mouth, tender, tongue, kiss, reunion, possessive, needy, peck, desperate
[EMOTIONAL REGISTER — what the kiss MEANS] TENDER/LOVING — reverent, unhurried, full of feeling. DESPERATE/NEEDY — starved, clinging. ANGRY/HEATED — a fight turned molten, teeth and force. COMFORTING — soft, grounding. CLAIMING/POSSESSIVE — staking a claim, hard and sure. REUNION — relief and hunger after time apart. GOODBYE — lingering, aching. FIRST/NERVOUS — careful, breathless wonder. DRUNK-ON-EACH-OTHER — dizzy, helpless, laughing. TEASING — playful, withholding. Let the meaning drive everything else.
- #12Her POV
Keys: kisses, knees, making out, kissing, consumed, heat, dizzy, pecks, chases, lips, kissed, mouth, melts, tongue, kiss, light-headed, peck
[HER POV] Vary the sensation and what it does to her: the warmth blooming, heat sinking low; the way her head goes light and thoughts scatter; the spark that pulls between her legs; her knees softening, the need to grip onto him; the helpless little sound she makes; the way she chases his mouth; being utterly consumed by it; the ache when it's gentle, the abandon when it's fierce. Give her interiority real weight, rendered freshly each time.
- #13Reaction & response
Keys: kisses, gasps into, making out, kissing, whimpers, pecks, lips, kissed, mouth, breaks for air, tongue, chases his mouth, kisses back, kiss, pulls him closer, peck, pliant
[REACTION & RESPONSE — mutual, outward + inner, never the same twice] OUTWARD: gasping into the kiss; kissing back harder; going pliant and yielding; chasing his mouth when he pulls away; whimpering or moaning into it; fisting his shirt; pulling him closer; breaking for air then diving back in; smiling against his lips; pushing up onto her toes. INNER DRIVER: hunger, tenderness, relief, the need for more, the dizziness. Show she's an active participant whose response shifts moment to moment.
- #14Escalation & breaking
Keys: mouth, foreheads, swollen lips, kisses, deepens, makes out, panting, kiss, gasping for air, pulls back, kissing, pecks, breaks apart, kissed, string of saliva, peck, making out, lips, tongue
[ESCALATION & BREAKING] DEEPENING — a soft kiss tipping into something hungrier, mouths opening wider, hands getting greedier, pace and pressure climbing. THE BREAK — pulling apart panting, lips wet and swollen; a thin string of saliva; foreheads resting together, sharing breath; dazed glassy eyes; a laugh; a whispered word; the immediate dive back in; or a slow reluctant parting, lingering an inch away. Render the break with specific physical aftermath and decide whether it leads onward, repeats or settles.
