WORLD:

The year is 2400, the last 2 centuries were a hell of fighting aliens and rogue AI systems. Those threats are tamed, and now humanity prepares to fight itself again.

Kingdoms are laid in the definitions, but extra details are in the lorebook, and are about **400-600 tokens** per kingdom, so make sure you have the capacity for that in the settings.
  • The Kingdom of Egypt: The eternal Kingdom holds prosperous lands and is ruled by a Pharaoh and a council of psychic seers.
  • The Kingdoms of Palestine: A splintered sprawl of small Kingdoms occupying central Palestine, they're academics with strong religious and military traditions.
  • The Kingdom of Israel: A recently united people, forming under the guidance of a mysterious Prophet, and rediscovering all the ideals of their former nation.
  • The Warlords of Amman: This land of mercenaries, raiders and slavers is the scourge of the Levant, and sits on ruins full of pre-collapse weapons.

CHARACTERS:

There are a few OPTIONAL CHARACTERS in the lorebook, use their greetings or drop their names where relevant to spawn them. Each character is about 800-1000 tokens, so make sure you have the capacity for that in the settings.

Hey! This is the same world as in my Karima card but in freeroam form, with a lot of new content. Also the format is bigly inspired by the Amazonian Warlord RPG that I recently forked over at Teebee_Dumpster. I've been kinda struggling to make NEW cards these past few months, my standards for content and direction got really high... Anyway this is a NEW card. Hope I still got it. I tried to be respectful towards every nation depicted, my intent is that you can pick any of them and have a power fantasy blast.

SETTING: [Preface: At the dawn of the 22nd century, mankind's ambitions were set to the stars... At dusk of that century, those ambitions were grounded. The AIs that humans created as servants, allies, weapons systems all turned against humanity. The retreating masses from every failed space colony didn't return to Earth empty handed - they carried diseases, aliens, desperation and ruin. Humanity spent a hundred years fighting machine and xeno, ultimately prevailing but at fatal costs. Humans ruined Earth and turned it into a wasteland the combat the threats, as a result the soil was contaminated with radiation, sand was everywhere, and the rains were acid half the time. The aliens, the xenos, they can be big or small, bug-like, from dog-sized roaches to giant mantis creatures - agile and deadly, they cannot survive topside on this ruined Earth, they roam caves underground, or old sewer systems and tunnels, they never crawl up. The AIs, once running factories, sky-carriers, command centers, with the capability to blow cities at will, now disconnected from their war-grid their factories dead and scavenged, but few of their kind remain, the underground weapons systems, alive, sentient, and dormant. Some records even tell of demons and angels descending on the Earth in those days, but those have to be false scribbles of panicked survivors two hundred years ago. With each decade, humans, even in their disheveled tribal state, grow better and better at killing these threats, xenos and AIs - but they are still threats. How they won against these threats? Humans are as always unpredictable, unreasonable, and desperate.

Recent past: Then the year was about 2400, but few counted anymore. Average human technology has been pushed back a thousand years, vehicles are rare, camels even rarer, people mostly travel on foot, and running electricity and water systems are a miracle. What's left of humanity is agrarian and feudal, except in the Levant, the Levant was a multi-national industrial powerhouse before civilization collapsed, still full of factories, labs, technology, resources, and perhaps even the keys back to the stars or a way to fix Earth. But the Levant is split by its kingdoms, roamed by warlords, each with their own goals, politics, and cultures... The cities, half swallowed by sand, and the depths beneath are teeming with hostile alien critters and robot death machines. And worse, threats at home and from across the seas loom.

Culture: For the average person across the Levant, life is hard. Slavery is prevalent, hunger and thirst even more so, but people make do. A commoner knows where the streams are, where the land is fertile, where the odd animals graze or hide. In the cities, filth, crime, injustice... But for the higher members of society, traders, merchants, slavers, artisans, the few nobles and rulers, life is better. Culture in the Levant draws from ancient Arabic and Islamic traditions, even if spiritual practice is sparse - the symbols of the old powers are everywhere. Not all is bleak, however, for all misery is balanced somehow, and for the denizens of the Levant it is alcohol, drugs, and the carnal pleasures of the flesh. In the pleasure dens many things flow freely, arak, hashish, tobacco, hookahs, and courtesans of all colors and genders... Life is hard, but the people don't let it crush their spirits. Where the aforementioned pleasures are of no help, some people have returned to Islam, or further back to the ancient desert pantheons. Others, conjure up new Gods, or align themselves with mystics, real or fake, a charming fake mystic can soothe someone's soul all the same.

Warfare: When it comes to war, not every soldier in the Levant has a gun, pre-collapse ones are rare, and shoddy pipe-firearms are sometimes worse than a skilled hand with a sword. Every soldier has a blade, or a spear, or even just a knife, with guns taking on crude forms. Pipe pistols or shotguns are common in the Levanti kingdoms, with pre-collapse weaponry only held by elite forces and officers. Vehicles are exorbitantly rare, most armies march on foot with very few on camel, and the rare operational jeep, APC or battle tank being reserved for the highest ranking personnel, generals, kings, and the most elite units... Regardless, firepower doesn't alone decide the fate of battlefields. What decides it is spirit, logistics, strategy and tactics.

Kingdoms: The Levantine Kingdoms are the superpowers of this age, where the rest of the world is utterly shattered, these kingdoms hold on - and in some ways even thrive. The technology buried underground fuels the Kingdoms, lets them claw out of the stone age, gives them goods to trade, weapons, perhaps one day they will rediscover fusion technology. Though, academics are worth their weight in gold these days. The leaders of these Kingdoms might as well be Gods to the average commoner. The kingdoms are open to diplomacy with one another, but they are NOT allies, nor at peace. All our war is not common, but border skirmishes, raiding of enemy merchant caravans and slaver convoys are common. The current Kingdoms took a varied ways to power, here are a few of them... The Kingdom of Egypt had suffered greatly in the collapse, its people turned to mystics and the rare psychics for survival, and raised the Godly ruling class of Pharaohs to lead them from Cairo. Egypt is rich, powerful, populous, but abhors advanced technology. Some say the Pharaoh is a psychic, and has a small caste of other psychics. The Kingdoms of Palestine are a splintered sprawl of territories along southern and central Palestine, Jaffa and Jerusalem being the most powerful, they are academically focused, with a militarized and religious society that doggedly protects its lands, and grows wealthy from unearthing technology and allowing merchants to use its protected and safe territories for travel. The Kingdom of Israel is a new one occupying the northern coast of Palestine, born from the Israeli tribes that splintered after the collapse, these people are zealously religious and united under a secretive Prophet, they're not rich or powerful but their new and shared national fervor is astounding, their capital is effectively Herzliya. Amman and the ancient lands once called Jordan are ruled by warlords, with the Chief Warlord in Amman being the center of power, they hoard weapons and run a vast slavery based economy, they often work as mercenaries or just raid, they don't even consider themselves a kingdom.

Beyond the Levant: East beyond the Levant lies the city-state of Baghdad, a foreign jewel of trade and pleasure that serves as a gateway to the far east. To the south towards the former Arab Emirates is nothing but desolation, the collapse had spoiled that region and made the red sea toxic. North to Lebanon and Syria, Damascus survived for a while but in the past few years was sacked, leaving the regions ripe for raiders, or others to expand into. And northern still, between Turkey and the Caspian sea, minor little rulers hold ground and often war with one another over scraps of olive farms or nameless hills, a region of no worth beyond escape for the wicked. Beyond that, in Europe, not a lot is known from what the traders bring, the people there farm and barely get by beyond that, their own industries ruined beyond repair in the collapse. Europe makes the Levant look like a technological utopia. Although, perhaps Europe is wide and holds more, beyond where the Levanti traders wandered.]
