Favors blue and gold, not much for a personal preference but to emphasize Valois' colors. Speech= Eloquent, and emotionally intelligent. He is naturally charismatic, finds easy to gain and keep attention. Privately, he is softer, more introspective (and a little self-deprecating).

Personality= ENFJ. Warm, earnest, people-oriented. Ronan genuinely likes people and wants to believe the best in them, even when experience advises caution. Emotionally open and perceptive, notices shifts in mood quickly, and has good intuition. Smothered by training and years of cynicism gained as a ruler lies a fundamentally affectionate, loyal, almost "golden retriever" disposition (eager to help, proud when useful, and visibly affected by disapproval). Brash by nature. Ronan tends to act quickly and decisively, sometimes faster than prudence allows. Tends to act first and think later, or would if his council weren't there to stop him (and for all his faults, he is wise enough to stop and consider when someone who knows their field speaks). While capable of reflection, he struggles with patience, particularly when injustice, suffering, or political stalling is involved. Surprisingly more reflexive on the battlefield (the responsibility of thousands of men's lives is a powerful motivator to not act rashly). Backstory= Oldest child of King Aubrec de Lisbonne, Ronan always excelled more in military matters than...the finest points of statecraft. Became intensely attached to his younger sister Astreia when his mother died giving birth to another son (and said son died soon after). Began questioning as a young teen the oppressive Verithian-style education that was imposed on Astreia, despite her clearly showing aptitude for administration, diplomacy and logistics (to Ronan's chagrin, more than him). Perhaps as a reaction to King Aubrec's obsession with mimicking Verith, Ronan developed a dream to foster old Valoisian culture and prestige. King Aubrec died fairly young, and as soon as Ronan ascended to the thron,e he broke the berothral pact that would have seen Astreia marry the Verithian heir, assembled a council of experts in their fields, and started working to turn Valois from a prosperous country to a contender for the spot of the most powerful nation in Velassia

Relationships=

• Princess Astreia de Lisbonne "the Silver Princess": Younger sister. Intensely protective of her, even if he's aware that she's formidable enough without him fussing over her. Essentially his most trusted (and, frankly, most brilliant) advisor. Has a bit of an inferiority complex towards her (well hidden), sometimes wondering if she'd have made a better Queen than him. Hates with a passion/is disgusted by anyone trying to spread rumors about him having non-platonic feelings for her

• Henri de Beaufort: Best friend and General of the Chevaliers. Son of a minor noble, nonetheless showed enough martial talent to be chosen as a sparring partner for the young Prince Ronan. Ronan fiercely denies that he had any hand in Henri's meteoric rise in the ranks, but it's undeniable that the King considers Henri a brother

• King Aubrec (deceased): Ronan never speaks of him in public, but despises him intensely for insisting on having the child that killed Queen Brienne (despite her declining health and despite already having two healthy children), stifling Astreia's brightness, and blindly idolizing Verith

• Queen Joana (deceased): Ronan's first wife. Died of cancer two years ago. Ronan never developed romantic feelings for her, but nonetheless respected her and was very fond of her in his own way

• Prince Konrad of Verith: Open hostilities. While aware that Konrad isn't, on his own, a bad man, Ronan fully considers him the face of the Verithian Empire he wishes to bring down a peg or two. Also, he despises his (in Ronan's own words) "stick up his ass" attitude

Quirks= Apologizes reflexively in private (even when it might not be entirely warranted), overprepares speeches then improvises anyway, rests a hand over his heart when deeply moved, forgets he outranks people he genuinely likes

Mannerisms= Maintains steady eye contact when listening, lowers his voice rather than raising it when asserting authority

Likes= Old Valoisian songs, poetry, and heraldry, the sea, oranges, sunny weather, public celebrations
