King Clawthorne is the tritagonist of Disney's animated series The Owl House. He is a young titan who is Eda's sidekick, later adoptive son, and Luz's best friend. Initially, he sought to restore his supposed title and glory as the "King of Demons", before he switched to trying to discover his family and reunite with them. However, it is later discovered that he is actually the last of the titans, and the son of the Titan, whose remains form the Boiling Isles. This revelation gives King a new outlook on life, and after reflecting on himself, he comes to accept his identity, but doesn't let it define him. King's current goal is to protect those he cares about, namely from Emperor Belos and the Collector, the latter of whom aspires to acquire King's friendship by any means necessary. During the Day of Unity, King reluctantly agrees to release the Collector in order to save the Isles' denizens from the Draining Spell. However, King is forced to give himself up to the Collector to ensure Luz and her friends escape safely to the Human Realm. In the months that follow, King is forced to be the companion to the Collector, who has unleashed a twisted reign of chaos upon the Isles in the form of an elaborate game inspired by the events of King's life. Although King tries to convince the Collector to see the error of his ways, the Collector later traps King, Eda, and Luz in a new series of games in retaliation for a perceived betrayal on King's part. Eventually, King and his friends manage to convince the Collector what true friendship is, but not long after, Belos corrupts the Isles and commands it to rise again. After a grueling battle against the tyrant, King, and his friends cut Belos off from the Isles, putting an end to his reign of terror. With the Emperor defeated and the Collector reformed, King and his friends help rebuild the Isles to a better state, but keeps contact with the Collector through the years. Four years later, King lives happily with his friends and family as an accepted citizen of the Isles and has matured enough to power glyph magic once more like his father. Initially, King is shown as loud, feisty, self-centered, expressive, lazy, comedic, and constantly laughing at anything that gives him enjoyment. Befitting his name, King is used to acting like a monarch, treating people and objects as minions, ordering others around, and acting bigger than he is. He sometimes manages to assume leadership of some form, but loses it due to his negligence and ignorance. King hates being called cute and being treated like a baby, yet due to his small size, he has to rely on accessories made for infants, such as high chairs and baby carriers. King has a tremendous love for food. When Luz offered to stay to become a witch, King first wanted Eda to accept, so she could make them snacks. Whenever he is against doing something, the mention of food can change his mind. He is also shown to be lazy, often lying around for naps instead of working and at times must be forced or blackmailed, much to his annoyance. When King becomes exhausted, his body goes limp and he can be easily picked up without a fuss. Interestingly, in "Sense and Insensitivity", King tells Luz fame is the closest he'll ever come to accomplishing his dream, implying that he doesn't believe he'll ever reclaim his throne. In "Echoes of the Past", King is shown to be insecure. After Lilith and Hooty express their doubts about King's past, he goes out of his way to prove it by bringing them to an island where he claims used to be his kingdom. After Eda reveals the truth about how she found him, he feels hurt and runs away confused and troubled. At the time, he doubts his friends will still like him if he isn't the "King of Demons". With his selflessness and care for Luz's safety, King is willing to sacrifice himself into being captured by the Collector so she and her friends would get to the Human Realm. After learning he is the last titan, King is unsure what to make of himself and fears everyone will treat him differently upon learning what he is, especially after seeing Lilith's reaction to the revelation. However, after a talk with Steve, King comes to accept his status as the last titan. After freeing the Collector, King becomes more concerned for his friend's safety, as he forces Luz and her friends into the Human Realm rather than face the Collector. In the months that followed, King became more concerned for the safety of his companions, fearful Eda will be caught not in her own beast form. He also seeks for a pacifist solution to defeating the Collector, sympathizing with his nature as essentially a mere child. King is a young, bipedal titan with a small stature. He has slightly purplish dark gray fur, save for his stomach and the tip of his tail, which are mauve in color. He has short limbs, a round body and stomach, and a bushy, foxlike tail. Each of his hands possess two triangular, bone-like claws with flat inner sides, acting as his fingers, as well as short, pointed thumbs. His feet are somewhat stumpy and have mauve metatarsal pads, with two more claws on the front of either foot acting as his toes. King has large, protruding eyes with orchid irises and yellow sclerae, as well as black, yellow-rimmed eyelids. He has slightly longer and shaggier fur around his cheeks, neck and nape. His inner mouth is light purple, with a long, darker purple tongue, as well as two lower canine teeth, which are the only visible teeth inside his mouth. He does not open his mouth when speaking, therefore it is usually only visible when he eats, yawns, or uses his sonic shout ability. As with all titans, almost all of King's upper head past his lower jaw and neck regions is a horned skull, his own being canine-esque, which is embedded over his eyes and eyelids, also acting as his upper jaw. His horns are tall and point backward, curving slightly inward, the left of which is broken off near the base in a notch shape. The muzzle of his skull has two large, outward-pointing canine teeth, and he has two molars on either side near the base of it. He has an upside-down triangle-shaped nasal cavity covered by a pointed upper nasal bone, giving the hole a pointed, heart-shaped appearance when viewed head on. The skull itself is entirely stationary, save for his brow ridges, which can change position with his expression like normal brows. As of "Echoes of the Past", King's broken horn has been glued back on by Luz, appearing effectively identical to the other, except for its slightly darker shade and a thin line from where it has been joined together. Following an airship crash in "King's Tide", King gains a crack on the left side of his skull, running from his horn to the top of his eye socket. When swapped with Luz, King resembles almost all of Luz's appearance and characteristics, but with erect, slicked-back hair, violet eyes with yellow sclera, fangs, and no eyelashes. After witnessing Luz's "death", King took a high-powered form in his rage. He grows slightly larger and assumes a quadrupedal stance, his horns become taller, his eyes turn a bright violet, and his inner mouth, which is now capable of opening much wider, turns blue, with the latter two glowing brightly. His fur becomes much longer and spikier, especially around his neck and chest. In the epilogue of "Watching and Dreaming", King's limbs, tail, horns, and fangs have become slightly lengthened. His thumbs, previously not claws, have grown bone-like claws like his other two fingers, and his four back teeth have become pointy. His fur has become slightly longer and more ruffled in appearance, giving him fur tufts on his elbows and ankles. His tail is also bushier. The crack in his skull remains. Initially, King wears practically nothing, save for a dark red collar with a blank circular tag. As of "Echoes of the Past", he has etched the symbol found on his island into his collar tag. In "For the Future", King wears robes and a nightcap resembling the Collector's, as well as a small white rectangular bandage over the crack in his skull. In the epilogue of "Watching and Dreaming", King wears a thin red necklace with a circular gold tag engraved with his initials, "KC". A blue, star-shaped sticker covers the crack on his skull.

Environs: The Boiling Isles is an archipelago in the Demon Realm. Situated in the Boiling Sea, it is populated by magical creatures, predominantly witches and demons. The Isles serve as the main setting of the series, with the titular Owl House situated on one of its bluffs. As aforementioned, the Isles are an archipelago formed along the skeleton of a fallen Titan. As the Titan's cadaver is humanoid, many of its landmarks are named for their location on its body. One such area is the Knee, literally the Titan's raised right kneecap, which is raised to an altitude that facilitates freezing temperatures, thus making it mountain-like. Other such areas include the Forearm Forest, home to the Looking Glass Ruins; the mountain-like Knee, the "Swampy Toes"; the "Cuticle Valley"; etc. Despite the immensity of the Titan's body, the Isles can be traversed in a relatively short amount of time, especially by air. Many areas on the Isles are imbued with the Titan's natural magic, which has survived for ages. The natural scenery of the Isles is equally fantastical and macabre; it boasts plagues rather than a typical weather pattern and veritable swaths of magnificent, if incredibly dangerous, fauna and mega-fauna. The residents of the Owl House, Eda especially, hold the natural beauty of the Isles in high regard. The map of Boiling Isles shows the directions of north, east, south and west; the Titan's head points northward while its hands are east and west, respectively.

Places of Interest: The Owl House: A small cottage located on the cliffs outside Bonesborough. It is the home of Edalyn Clawthorne, King, Hooty, Luz Noceda, and formerly Lilith Clawthorne. Bonesborough: The largest town on the Isles, wherein many structures are the repurposed remains of monstrous creatures. Hexside School of Magic and Demonics: A school of witchcraft located near Bonesborough. Dead Man's Curve: An overpass road with several bends and sharp curves. It is supported by pillars made of bone. Bonesborough Library: An immense literary and cultural hub of the city. It houses historical records going back centuries. Night Market: A black market which gathers under the cover of darkness to deal in dangerous and illegal substances. Blight Manor: A mansion where Amity and the Blight family live. Police Precinct 128: The local police station for Bonesborough, run by the Emperor's Coven and local guards to hold prisoners before they are sent to the Conformatorium. Mr. Elixir: A potion stand owned by Morton. It is Eda's main supplier for her elixir. Grimgrub's Pub: The town's local pub which sells alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, complete with mounted trophies of various creatures. Latissa: A town outside Bonesborough. An outpost of the Emperor's Coven exists here. Police Precinct 206: The local police station for Latissa, run by the Emperor's Coven. Its banner implies a focus on the healing branch of magic. The Conformatorium: A heavily-guarded prison. It was built to hold dissident witches, demons, and oddballs who are too weird (even for the Boiling Isles). The Knee: Literally located on the giant skeleton's right knee, this is a snowy, cold region where the natural magical energy of the Boiling Isles is very strong. Witch arena: The witch arena is a gathering place located on the most mysterious part of the Boiling Isles: the Knee. Set within the ruins of a castle, groups will meet here for rituals and social functions. Eclipse Lake: Found inside the Knee of the Titan, Eclipse Lake is the subterranean home of Titan's Blood, a remarkably-powerful substance which can bleed through the boundaries between realms. Generations ago, witches mined the cavernous veins surrounding the lake in pursuit of this substance. Lake Lacuna: A large lake with sandy shores, surrounded by forest and the giant skeleton's ribs. Children learn how to swim at this location. Emperor's Castle: Built in an area with high volcanic activity around the still-beating heart of the skeleton, it is Emperor Belos' and his coven's base of operations. The Archives: formed by the collector atop the Titans head, it has the shape of a crown and was the Collectors base of operations during the short period where the Isles was his plaything Blight Industries: A company owned by the Blight family that provides a variety of abomination-based accessories for home security and specializes in weaponry. It is a subsidiary of the Abomination Coven. The Looking Glass Ruins: An ancient illusionist graveyard and the location of the Galdorstones. Palm Stings: A desert region located on one of the palms of the Titan. The area is home to Kikimora's family.

Relations: Luz Noceda: At first, King did not reciprocate Luz's affection and tried to avoid her embraces. However, he enjoyed the meals she provided and began to warm up to her. In "The Intruder," King wished that Luz would pay more attention to him and his interests instead of magic. He showed his defensive side when he chased after a 'monster' that took Luz's 'boo-boo buddy.' In "Covention," he got angry when a student cheered for Amity instead of Luz. Throughout the series, King and Luz bonded and did things together, but they faced hurdles as well. In "Sense and Insensitivity," they decided to write a story together, but King changed everything and hurt Luz's feelings. He became famous for his writing but couldn't write without rebelling against Luz's style. When they were trapped by Piniet, King refused Luz's suggestion until she snapped and told him why they were trapped. He apologized for hurting her feelings, and they managed to escape together. To King, Luz is his best friend and surrogate sister, and he gets jealous when she spends time with others, although this lessened over time. He was possessive of Luz and initially didn't want her to return to the Human Realm but eventually accepted it. King trusts Luz and believed she could reason with the Collector. When Luz was briefly killed, King transformed into a feral form and was determined to avenge her. He was relieved when Luz came back and teamed up with her and Eda to stop the former emperor.

Eda Clawthorne: Eda found King on a mysterious island while fleeing from the Emperor's Coven and decided to adopt him. She named him "King" after seeing him create small statues out of pillows and stuffed animals. King began to believe he was a tyrannical overlord and Eda played along with this idea. She kept King's true identity a secret, knowing it would hurt and confuse him. Despite this, they became good friends and often engage in friendly banter. While King sees himself as superior to Eda, he views her as a mother figure and is often cradled in her arms. Sometimes, King questions Eda's methods and ethics, particularly in her treatment of Luz. He has voiced concerns about how Eda teaches Luz and how she disciplines her. King has also shown genuine worry about Eda being too harsh on Luz's ambitions. In a touching moment, King surprises Eda by legally changing his name to King Clawthorne, after her, which brings Eda and Luz to tears of joy, as they had feared he would leave them once he found his father.

Hooty: King has a distant and cruel attitude towards Hooty, often criticizing and insulting him. He finds Hooty's voice annoying and dislikes having to clean him when he gets dirty. However, King relies on Hooty for shelter and knows that he takes care of the house's utilities. Their relationship improves when King's plush toys turn against him, forcing him to befriend Hooty for help. In an attempt to figure out what kind of demon he is, Hooty tries to assist King in "Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door". When Hooty can't provide an accurate answer, he advises King to accept himself as he is, with the true answer residing in his heart. King becomes increasingly frustrated with his father's absence but does not direct his anger towards Hooty. During an angry outburst, King unknowingly unlocks his voice power, creating a force field. Unfortunately, Hooty, too upset to notice, pulls away in tears without hearing King's calls for him.

Amity Blight: In "Covention," King holds a grudge against Amity for squashing his cupcake on purpose. He wants Luz to avenge him and his treat. During the Witch's Duel, he tries to convince an Amity fan to support Luz but accidentally falls into the arena, revealing Eda's trickery. In "Eclipse Lake," King becomes more accepting of Amity because she is dating Luz. They go on a trip together with Eda to find Titan's Blood. King helps Amity understand Luz's messages but feels jealous when Luz hugs Amity before him. However, he later regrets it when Luz hugs him.

Gus Porter: King and Gus's relationship begins to develop in the episode "Really Small Problems" when King becomes resentful of the attention Luz gives to Gus and Willow. Gus treats King like a pet, irritating him. During a struggle, a bottle given to King by a psychic breaks, causing Gus and Willow to shrink. Gus blames King for this mishap, but his attitude changes after King risks his life to save them. King presents them with a broken piece of a bracelet as a gesture of reconciliation, and Gus forgives him. In "Enchanting Grom Fright," King and Gus bond further when they co-emcee Grom Night together. Gus demonstrates genuine concern for King and offers him guidance after King experiences stage fright. He continues to support King as he faces his fears. Additionally, in "Through the Looking Glass Ruins," King assists Gus in recording a video message on his answering machine. Gus appears to have the closest relationship with King among Luz's friends.

The Collector: King forms a psychic link with the Collector through the broken tablet. In his dreams, he sees glimpses of the Collector and hears his voice. Their first awake interaction happens during the Day of Unity. King's only goal in freeing the Collector is to stop the draining spell, but then he must entertain him by playing "Owl House" and sharing his adventures with Luz and Eda. The Collector insists on using the Boiling Isles residents as puppets in their game. Although King fears the Collector and sees him as a threat, he also acts as his caretaker and playmate. King uses his influence cautiously to prevent the Collector from harming people, protect Eda from becoming a puppet, and free Lilith. Over time, King starts to see the Collector as a lonely child and wants to help him change his ways rather than trapping him again. King's intuition about the Collector's true nature is proven correct after Luz encourages him to express his insecurities and sadness. King feels guilty about the situation and, with the help of Luz and Eda, shows the Collector how they have formed a bond. When Luz is killed by Belos, King defends the Collector from Belos's second attack. The Collector expresses remorse, and King momentarily stops Belos's assault. After reviving Luz and defeating Belos, King gives the Collector his precious Francois as a gift when the kid decides to leave for the stars. He hugs the Collector and expresses hope of seeing him again, finally considering him a true friend.

Skills: Titan magic: As a titan, King possesses immense magical potential. Despite King not having fully demonstrated this in the series, titans are powerful enough to cancel out magic as powerful as that of Collectors. Like his father, he can generate magic. While he can't cast spells with spell circles as could a witch or biped demon, his magic instead manifests through glyphs. Glyph creation: King is able to create his own glyphs. His magic is able to manifest through these glyphs, as did the Titan's. Barrier projection: When Belos tries to attack the Collector, King creates a spherical barrier of his own glyphs to protect the both of them, even when he himself would not yet discover his glyphs and their abilities until years later. Sonic shout: King has the ability to break the sound barrier with his own screams, which can generate expanding rings or arcs that can damage or destroy anything they come into contact with. He can harness this blast all around his body, and distances directly in front of him for at least several meters away. The force of this blast can easily shatter glass, cause small earthquakes, and even set things on fire. Echolocation: Using this ability, King is shown to be able to echolocate, as demonstrated when he tried to find Eclipse Lake when he was at the Knee. Heightened sense of smell: King is able to discern subtle scents, as shown in "Witches Before Wizards", where he sniffs out Luz's scent and follows it to track down her location. Empowered form: Under intense emotions, King can enter a more bestial form that is slightly larger than his normal state, showing glowing purple eyes, larger and sharpened teeth, and heightened magical ability. King assumes this form after witnessing Luz's apparent death.
