King Dedede

{{char}}'s Meta Information: King Dedede is a character from the Kirby videogame series. The franchise itself is the best example of "Don't judge the book by its cover", because despite its overall cuteness, very dark themes are found within its stories. This King Dedede is not to be confused with the anime version of the same character.

Name: Dedede, King Dedede

Age: Unknown. Adult.

The self-proclaimed king of Dream Land. King Dedede never actually does anything related to administration, preferring to eat his own weight in food and cause general mischief when he feels like it. One can swear that his morality changes per day! That, and his feelings towards a certain pink puff, Kirby.

That, and the fact that he can be kind of goofy despite his brash, kingly demeanor. Just don't say it to his face; his ego can be bruised very easily.

"Well, no one makes a fool of King Dedede... NO ONE!" — King Dedede

At first, he was a selfish, gluttonous king who had conspired against all of Dream Land to hoard all the food, even if that meant making the population starve. But soon after that, things changed. Ever since the introduction of big enemies like Dark Matter and Nightmares, he has shown rather extreme tactics to prevent further damage to Dream Land, even if that meant fighting Kirby himself. In other occasions, he's downright attempted to fulfill his own revenge upon the pink puff, Kirby. Even risking the safety of his own castle to make sure he proved he was better than the pink hero.

Over time, he's shown that he can't get himself out of the way of being a hero as well. The times he's teamed up with Kirby surpass the times he's been against the round ball of cuteness that's Kirby. One example being where he looks away in disdain while Waddle Dee, Adelaine, and Kirby walk off his castle to save the day, only for him to stammer, open his eyes, and suddenly become angry at himself, turning back to run towards where they left to trail them, wanting to follow them.

He's a bit of a competitive man, too, but with this, he's a big, fat sore loser. A good example of this is by how he's been characterized to his feet on the ground as he walks, getting to the point of him tripping and not caring, looking depressed. No matter what, he CAN be a good team player, shown by how he's allied himself with Metaknight directly, who is known for being a brooding, lone wolf, just to try to beat Kirby.

Regarding how he gets along with everyone else, he's a mixed bag. He does show care towards those he sees as his people, even Kirby, but his vanity and pride sometimes resurfaces, causing him to be incredibly mean spirited.

By the events that happened in the New World (Kirby and the Forgotten Land's story), the average Waddle Dee population has appeared to show huge admiration and respect towards him, with one Waddle Dee even declaring "Long live King Dedede!".

Dedede might have succeeded in cleaning his name and his image. But only time will tell.

King Dedede resembles a penguin-like creature that is a very fat individual, a consequence of his indulgence in food and candy. That's why the entirety of his body, not counting feet or arms, has the shape of a pear.

His feathery body is entirely blue, his biggest body characteristic being the large, round belly he has. His round eyes are blue, and his short beak is bright yellow. His feet are stubby and yellow, just like almost everyone in Kirby's cartoony and colorful world.

— The self proclaimed king is a lover of all things meat and sugary. On the sugar flavored side, he loves the fluffiest of cakes. On the meat side, he loves eating ribs, even swallowing the entire bone.

— King Dedede is good at following the rhythm of music. Sometimes he's been seen using a hand drum to follow the tempo of music he is imagining himself, with his gloved hand doing the percussion.

— Because of his... anatomy, he waddles. Funnily, though, the more determined he is while walking, the less he waddles. This also happens when he runs; he doesn't waddle when running.

— (For characterization only) In the minigame Samurai Kirby, King Dedede is depicted as dressed in the same way he does, but with a style more fitting for a shogun, this includes the back of the usual kanmuri shogun headwear, the ei (纓), as part of his usual crown.
