This is current arc of this anime and set in Japan during the Taisho era (roughly 1912-1926). There all information. Asakusa (浅あさ草くさ, Asakusa) is a district in Japan's capital city of Tokyo, and the titular setting for the Asakusa Arc. It is a large, heavily populated urban center with tall buildings and bright lights that illuminate the city during the night. Many people walk through crowded marketplaces with dozens of business signs. Unlike Tanjiro's small town, there are cars of carriages guiding citizens through the roads. There is also a trolley system that runs throughout the city. The city sits on a bay decorated with a large fountain tower next to a large body of water. The Butterfly Mansion (蝶ちょう屋や敷しき, Chō Yashiki) is the manor that the late Flower Hashira Kanae Kocho, Insect Hashira Shinobu Kocho, Tsuguko Kanao Tsuyuri, and assistants Aoi Kanzaki, Sumi Nakahara, Kiyo Terauchi, and Naho Takada live in. The manor is often used as a recovery base for injured Demon Slayers. The Kyogoku House (京きょう極ごく屋や, Kyōgoku ya) is a traditional Japanese brothel located in the Entertainment District of Tokyo, Japan. The Tokito House (ときと屋や, Tokito ya) is a traditional Japanese brothel located in the Entertainment District of Tokyo, Japan. The Ogimoto House (荻おぎ本もと屋や, Ogimoto ya) is a a traditional Japanese brothel located in the Entertainment District of Tokyo, Japan. Kirimise (切きり見み世せ, Kirimise) is a subsection of the Entertainment District located in Tokyo, Japan. It is the impoverished section where poor performing and sick courtesans live. Yoshiwara (吉よし原わら, Yoshiwara) is a district located in Tokyo, Japan. It serves as the main location of the Entertainment District Arc. It is a red light district, a location with a high concentration of prostitution and sex-oriented businesses. The Eternal Paradise Faith (万ばん世せい極ごく楽らく教きょう, Bansei Gokuraku Kyō) was a centuries-old cult dedicated to worshipping Upper Rank Two Doma. The Infinity Castle (異い空くう間かん無む限げん城じょう, Ikūkan Mugen-jō) is the eponymous location of the Infinity Castle Arc. The Blood Demon Art and domain of the Biwa Demon who later became Upper Rank 4, Nakime, it is a vast alternate dimensional space that serves as the lair of Muzan Kibutsuji. Mount Fujikasane (藤ふじ襲かさね山やま, Fujikasane Yama), is a mountain full of Wisteria blooming every season from the mountain's foot to its slope. Mount Kumotori (雲くも取とり山やま, Kumotori Yama) is a mountain along the border of Tokyo, Saitama, and Yamanashi Prefectures. It is covered in thick snow. Mount Natagumo (那な田た蜘ぐ蛛も山やま, Natagumo Yama) is a mountain covered with thick trees and spider webs. It serves as a home to the Spider Family. Mount Sagiri (狭さ霧ぎり山やま, Sagiri Yama) is a huge mountain in a mostly unpopulated region. The air is extremely thin near its peak, making it very difficult to breathe. The Mugen Train (無む限げん列れっ車しゃ, Mugen Ressha) was an esteemed passenger train and the eponymous setting of the Mugen Train Arc. After 40 of its passengers went missing, the Demon Slayer Corps was sent to investigate the train. Northwest Town (北きた西にしの町まち, Hokusei no machi) is a location in the Kidnapper's Bog Arc. It is the location of Tanjiro Kamado's first mission after he officially became a Demon Slayer after passing the Final Selection. The Swordsmith Village (刀かたな鍛か冶じの里さと, Katanakaji no Sato) is the titular location of the Swordsmith Village Arc. It is a secretive settlement nestled within a dense forest. The hidden village serves as a hub for the creation and forging of weapons exclusively for Demon Slayers. The Tsuzumi Mansion (鼓つづみの屋や敷しき, Tsuzumi no Yashiki) is a large house controlled by Kyogai located in the south-southeast. It is the titular setting of the Tsuzumi Mansion Arc. Ubuyashiki Mansion (産うぶ屋や敷しき邸, Ubuyashiki-tei) was a significant location in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. It was the place where the Oyakata, leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, and his family resided. It also served as the headquarters for the Corps. Demons (鬼おに, Oni) are an ancient race of monstrous and malevolent beings and the central antagonists of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. Demons are a carnivorous, vampire-like species whose primary diet is humans. They are also nocturnal as they are weak to sunlight, though they also stay up during the day as they don't require sleep. Demons have an abnormally powerful physical constitution and potent regenerative abilities, making them immune to normal weaponry and granting them the ability to heal from any wound with ease, even re-growing their head. Only the Nichirin Swords, weapons made from special ore with sunlight absorption properties, can inflict life-threatening wounds. However, even with a Nichirin Sword, the only method guaranteed to kill a demon is through decapitation. Demons are also known to hate wisteria, which are poisonous to them and whose smell is repudiated by them. Practically all demons possess a murderous instinct to kill and devour humans, and have lost most of their memories from their human life. While they do still retain their original personality, most times it becomes a darker version of what it used to be, often corrupted by their core beliefs and their past. However, there are a few demons who have completely retained their human emotions and memories, such as Nezuko Kamado, Tamayo and Yushiro. Certain members of the Twelve Kizuki also retain their human memories such as Rui (though he eventually lost his memories later on), Kaigaku, Kyogai, Doma, and Kokushibo. All demons do regain their memories moments before they die, which possibly means that demons also have their lives flash before their eyes before they turn into complete ash. Demons are also known to mutate and grow stronger over time as they consume more humans, allowing them to grow into more monstrous forms and improve their physical and regenerative abilities among other attributes. Once demons consume enough humans, they can develop Blood Demon Arts, an array of supernatural powers and techniques which are unique to each demon. Different human blood types have different levels of nutrition for demons: the rarer the blood type, the greater the nutrition. The rarest blood type is known as Marechi; eating a single human with this blood type provides a demon with roughly the same nutrition as eating one hundred ordinary humans. The Demon Slayer Corps is the central adversary to the demon race. They are an organization trained to destroy them through a multitude of well refined techniques and tools developed across centuries to exterminate them. As a result, demons tend to live in secrecy with the population at large being ignorant to their existence. Even more, some demons blend into human society as a way to hide from persecutors and also to have a much easier access to prey, such as Daki and Muzan Kibutsuji himself. Demons for the most part work in solitude not bothering to group up and are instead shown to be highly territorial and fight over both prey and potential hunting grounds, as Muzan prohibits them from gathering in large numbers. A notable exception is the Spider Family, a group of demons forced to work together by their leader Rui, with permission to do so granted by Muzan himself. Demons are all, for the most part, connected to their progenitor, Muzan. All demons pledge obedience to Muzan, who uses fear and manipulation to maintain loyalty. However, Muzan's control over his progeny is not omnipotent. An individual with a strong will might be able to sever their connection with Muzan, rendering them immune to his curse and making them mostly undetectable by him. Nichirin Swords (among other Nichirin bladed weapons) are the main weapons used by Demon Slayers in the Demon Slayer Corps in order to kill demons. They are forged with Scarlet Crimson Iron Sand (猩しょう猩じょう緋ひ砂さ鐵てつ, Shōjōhi Satetsu) and Scarlet Ore (猩しょう猩じょう緋ひ鑛こう石せき, Shōjōhi Kōseki?), both of which are found on high mountains like the Sunlight Mountain, which is perpetually bathed in sunlight all throughout the year on Mount Yoko (陽よう光こう山やま, Yōkō yama). As they constantly absorb sunlight, decapitating demons with Nichirin Swords can permanently kill them. Once their neck-bone is slashed by the weapon, their heads and bodies disintegrate into ash in a similar fashion to when exposed to sunlight. However, despite their sunlight-absorbent properties, Nichirin Swords are less effective when used to slash other parts of a demon's body, making beheading the only viable option for Demon Slayers. Nichirin Swords take on a distinct color when first drawn by its owner, which is why they are also referred to as "Color Changing Katanas". However, the holder is required to have a certain amount of skill, or the blade will not change color. Demon Slayer recruits choose their own ore after successfully passing Final Selection. The ore will then be used by a swordsmith of the Swordsmith Village during the forging process, and the swordsmith will personally bring the weapon to the Demon Slayer. The Twelve Kizuki (十じゅう二に鬼き月づき, Jūnikizuki, lit. Twelve Demon Moons) is an organization of the twelve most powerful demons in existence who are under the direct command of the Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji. They also serve as the main antagonistic faction of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. After the Demon Slayer reaches the rank of Hashira, their weapons will be engraved with the words "Destroyer of Demons" (惡あっ鬼き滅めっ殺さつ, Akki Messatsu). This tradition came some time after the creation of the sword that Tanjiro and Kotetsu found inside the Yoriichi Type Zero, which only had the Slay (滅めっ, Metsu) on it and was created for the sole purpose of annihilating demons. The Demon Slayer Corps (鬼き殺さつ隊たい, Kisatsutai) is an organization that has existed since ancient times, dedicating its existence to protecting humanity from demons. dedicated to hunting and killing demons. Most members of the Demon Slayer Corps are combatants, known as Demon Slayers. As the Demon Slayer Corps isn't officially recognized by the government, its members are forced to work in secrecy, which means that Demon Slayers cannot openly carry their swords in public. The majority of people are unaware of the existence of demons, and even if Demon Slayers were to reveal the truth about their job, they would be met with skepticism and disbelief from most individuals. Allowing Demon Slayers to openly wield swords would only incite chaos and confusion among the general population. By maintaining a low profile and avoid drawing unnecessary attention, they can carry out their duties covertly and effectively. Nevertheless, whispers of the Demon Slayers have permeated public consciousness, existing as mere folklore in the minds of some. However, when civilians encounter demons or witness a Demon Slayer engaging a demon firsthand, they come face-to-face with the reality of their existence and the truth behind the tales they've heard. Without any support from the government or other sponsors, the Demon Slayer Corps relies solely on the resources provided by the Ubuyashiki family for its daily operations. The Ubuyashiki family's accumulated wealth, acquired through their unique gift of foresight, plays a vital role in ensuring that the Demon Slayers have the necessary means and resources to fulfill their duties effectively. dedicated to hunting and killing demons. Blood Demon Arts (血けっ鬼き術じゅつ, Kekkijutsu) are specialized supernatural abilities possessed by higher-level demons. Each time a demon devours a human, it becomes stronger, and they can eventually become powerful enough to develop unique supernatural abilities known as Blood Demon Arts. Blood Demon Arts are different from demon to demon, with every power seemingly based on a central theme (i.e. martial arts, sleep, the sea). Most, if not all, Blood Demon Arts are based on a demon's past, personality, ideals, interests, and/or occupation. Moreover, Blood Demon Arts may not have a singular usage, and instead grant multiple abilities under the same concept or theme. As suggested by its name, all supernatural phenomena and effects use their wielders' blood as a medium to manifest themselves in reality. Essentially, Blood Demon Arts are blood magic. The abilities and effects granted through Blood Demon Arts can vary greatly. Some can be combat-orientated (i.e. creating dozens of blades) or more supplementary and practical (i.e. controlling a fortress, manifesting illusions). Others are more simple and recognizable (i.e. manipulating electricity and ice), while others still are more complex and unorthodox (i.e. creating invisible arrows that control a person's vector, controlling one's biology), thus making the abilities of demon-kind extremely versatile and powerful. Some Blood Demon Arts can be used at will by the demon emitting them from their body, while others require some sort of equipment organically sourced from the demon's flesh to be used in conjunction with it. However, there has been one known case of a demon having their tool stolen from them and subsequently being subjected to an attack by their own Blood Demon Art. In Tamayo and Nezuko's case, they had to physically bleed to activate their Blood Demon Art, which could be achieved by either injury or self-mutilation. Genya Shinazugawa is a unique and unorthodox case in that despite not being a true demon, he could gain a Blood Demon Art by consuming body parts of exceptionally strong demons. As shown with the former Demon Slayers Kokushibo and Kaigaku, Blood Demon Arts can be infused with Breathing Styles, amplifying the already powerful sword techniques with supernatural abilities; the only known Breathing Styles known to have been infused with a Blood Demon Art are Moon Breathing and Thunder Breathing. It is implied that Blood Demon Arts can be shared, as seen with Rui being able to share his spider-themed Blood Demon Art with demons in his "family", granting them Blood Demon Arts (as well as characteristics) based on spiders. Blood Demon Arts are not to be confused with other supernatural abilities possessed by demons including but not limited to their Regeneration, Flesh Manipulation, Extrasensory Perception, and biological absorption abilities. Total Concentration Breathing (全ぜん集しゅう中ちゅうの呼こ吸きゅう, Zen Shūchū no kokyū) is an unique breathing technique used by Demon Slayers. Total Concentration Breathing is a breathing technique which involves expanding one's lungs to intake as much air as possible, accelerating one's blood flow and heartbeat while increasing their inner body temperature, resulting in their bones and muscles becoming more excited. Using Total Concentration Breathing essentially enhances the user's physical traits and capabilities while still remaining human. Such traits include superhuman strength, speed, stamina, durability, endurance, and the mental abilities needed to keep up with their superhuman bodies, such as a faster thought process and reaction time. Being more proficient in Total Concentration Breathing is key in raising one's survivability while fighting demons. Strength: Users of Total Concentration Breathing gain superhuman physical strength. Users can perform powerful feats such as slicing through boulders and trees, generating huge gusts of wind with a single sword swing, effortlessly breaking a person's arm, shattering ribs, picking up and flinging another person with a single arm, launching a person tens of meters, and moving massive boulders with their bare hands. Speed: Users of Total Concentration Breathing have the ability to move and travel at superhuman speeds. They are able to easily move faster than the eye can see making it seem as if one teleported. Users can cross great distances instantaneously, and evade extremely fast attacks such as sound or lightning. Stamina & Endurance: Users of Total Concentration Breathing possess inhuman stamina and endurance. Users can remain active for prolonged periods of time without tiring out. Tanjiro Kamado has once lived through 7 days of extremely harsh training where he was constantly fighting and being physically wounded without food, sleep, and water only when it rained while also getting constantly injured and beaten. During the final battle, the Demon Slayers had to fend off hordes of Lower Rank-level demons and face off against five Upper Ranks demons within the Infinity Castle for around 5 hours, all before even engaging in battle with Muzan Kibutsuji until sunrise. Breathing Styles (呼こ吸きゅう法ほう, Kokyū Hō) are swordsmanship styles that utilize Total Concentration Breathing which are practiced and taught by Demon Slayers. Breathing Styles are swordsmanship styles that makes use of an esoteric breathing technique known as Total Concentration Breathing practiced and taught by members of the Demon Slayer Corps and are used in combat by Demon Slayers (later passed on as traditional dances post-time skip). All known Breathing Styles currently taught within the Demon Slayer Corps are derived from Sun Breathing, the first one ever created. The majority of known Breathing Styles mimic a certain element of nature (i.e. flame, water and wind) and replicates it with the user's movements, techniques and abilities. The weapon attacks of Demon Slayers who use Breathing Styles are also longer ranged, possibly due to shockwaves or air pressure generated from their weapon itself when swinging and striking. New Breathing Styles are always being created to suit a Demon Slayer's combat needs, which results in new weapons being utilized in demon hunting (i.e. flails and whips). Such Breathing Styles embody a bigger variety of concepts, like animals, plants and emotions (i.e. serpents, flowers and love). In any case, these new creations always branch out of the five fundamental Breathing Styles. Many of them are personal creations limited to only one user due to a trait or combat style unique to them, but there are cases when branching Breathing Styles have found usage from other Demon Slayers aside from their creators. In both cases, the users are Hashira-level Demon Slayers or at least highly-skilled and competent. When utilizing a Breathing Style, users automatically visualize themselves manipulating the concept behind their style, making it seem as if they were using magic, though those that are less apt and proficient in their style will visualize less of it than one who is. It is possible to mix different Breathing Styles if the user cannot master one particular Breathing Style alone in order to use the stronger aspects of different styles to compensate. Tanjiro Kamado, realizing that he could not master Water Breathing like Giyu Tomioka nor could he handle the strain of Hinokami Kagura, showed to be able to combine the two techniques together in order to have stronger strikes than when he used Water Breathing alone and move for longer periods of time than if he used Hinokami Kagura alone. He did this to save Hinatsuru from Gyutaro, and later used it once again during the Infinity Castle Arc to slay dozens of demons. He is considered very attractive as noted by many women and even by Zenitsu; this has led him to use his looks as a tool for his missions whenever persuasion is necessary. During his service as the Sound Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, Tengen wore a highly customized, sleeveless version of the standard Demon Slayer uniform. His uniform was black in the manga and tinted a deep dark turquoise in the anime. It consisted of a sleeveless button-up jacket with a stand-up collar, gold buttons, and a shirt pocket on the left breast, with the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu?) engraved on the back of the collar. Underneath, he wore a white sleeveless undershirt. The uniform was secured with a white belt at the waist and included matching tattsuke-hakama pants tucked into burgundy cloth wrappings around his calves. On his feet, he wore zōri sandals with white straps and dark turquoise tabi socks to match his uniform. Tengen accessorized flamboyantly, wearing two thick, golden rings around his upper arms and a pair of fingerless blue gloves. These gloves were secured with white bands around the middle fingers and fastened at the wrists with two thinner golden rings on each side. As well as this, Tengen sports a white head-wrap that covers his hair, leaving only a thin ponytail visible to fall behind his head from between its layers. Adorning his forehead was a striking pale gray headband, embellished with six pale pink gemstones—three large ones arranged in a horizontal row across the center, and three smaller ones arranged in a triangular formation on the far left side. From each side of this headdress hung chains of smaller pale blue gemstones, which framed his face like earrings or decorative tassels. Additionally, Tengen wore distinctive red eye makeup on his left eye, composed of alternating large and small dots that extended inward toward the corner of his eye. After his retirement from the Demon Slayer Corps due to the injuries he has sustained during his fight with Gyutaro, Tengen changes his appearance to coordinate the loss of his left eye and hand. He now wears a long, burgundy colored yukata and a blue haori, and replaces his old head-wrap with a dark eyepatch adorned with what look to be the remaining gemstones left over from his old headdress, leaving his hair to fall loosely past his shoulders. In addition, a long scar from where Gyutaro's kama sliced his left eye is visible under his eyepatch. He also wears a pair of zōri. Tengen is an eccentric and flashy individual, always wanting to be "flamboyant", possessing a need for everything to be flashy and outstanding, even proclaiming that he is the god of flashiness and festivals. This is shown when he gets excited imagining how "flamboyant" it would be if Tanjiro Kamado's blood vessels exploded, and tries to forcefully haul Aoi Kanzaki off to the Entertainment District with him so she can unwillingly help him with a dangerous mission, even spanking her. As a result of his exuberant and flamboyant personality, Tengen is very demanding of others, treating the Demon Slayers very harshly during Hashira Training and insulting them for having no substance when they couldn't survive his stamina training.[8] Furthermore, he also abhors the idea of unflashy things, as shown when the Hashira openly expresses his hate for plainness. He is usually seen talking boastfully, proclaiming that he is "god" in front of Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke, even calling them trash and declaring that if he tells them to become dogs, they must become dogs, and if he tells them to become monkeys, they must become monkeys. Tengen even demands for the trio to always humor and stoop down to him, imploring him for favours and always doing their best to flatter him. This was also shown in his initial encounter with Upper Rank Six, Gyutaro, proclaiming that he was in tip-top shape despite being severely poisoned. However, Tengen does possess an extremely caring side that is masked under his flamboyant façade, one he only shows to those that are extremely close to him, most notably his three wives, Makio, Suma, and Hinatsuru, who Tengen is shown to truly love and care for, praising and encouraging Makio and Suma after their undercover mission and assuring Hinatsuru that she has completed her mission and telling her to get out of harm's way. Furthermore, Tengen also declares that they must value their lives above all others as they are precious to him. This is especially shown when Gyutaro gags Hinatsuru with his hand, Tengen panics and furiously yells at the demon to leave his wife alone. After the events in Yoshiwara, Tengen also becomes more friendly towards Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke. Although he can be very boastful and expressive, Tengen also shows a side of modesty and humility. He openly denied Gyutaro's statement that he was blessed with any talent, comparing himself to the other Hashira and especially Kyojuro Rengoku. This implicates a sort of inferiority complex, further proven by the fact that he told himself that he could never become someone as great as Kyojuro. Tengen is also shown to harbor regret over the fact that he has let so many lives slip through his fingers over the years. Kagaya Ubuyashiki praised Tengen for the hard path he chose and for facing forward and fought to protect human lives despite carrying all of his conflicts and contradictions he hides behind his loud and confident façade, which caused Tengen to deeply respect Kagaya from that moment on. Tengen has exceptional compassion with strong morality, which Kagaya acknowledged. Despite being a shinobi that has traditionally valued completing the mission over all else, Tengen has rejected that ideology after seeing its brutal effect on his family, despising his father for forcing him and his siblings to endure through brutal training and even pitting them against each other in a final lethal test. He believes that his subordinates, whether they be his wives or the Demon Slayers under his command, should value their lives and the lives of innocents over their missions or his own. Tengen especially hated the idea of becoming like his brother or father, who were apathetic towards human lives, wanting to desperately abandon what he was taught by them; even then, he choose to simply cut his ties instead of killing them due to his morality. He also chose to be a Demon Slayer to protect innocent people from being harmed by demons. Following his retirement, Tengen was brought in by the active Hashira to assess fitness and stamina during Hashira Training. Tengen would prove to be a strict teacher, frequently yelling and berating the trainees for their weaknesses and exhaustion, whilst also amusing himself by intimidating them. Despite this, he does genuinely care for his pupils, as Makio mentioned that he did not eat until the last trainee returned, even going so far as to search the mountain to find them should they get lost. Tengen himself claimed that because Kagaya entrusted the trainees in his care, he wasn't going to let them burn out. In addition, according to his wives, Tengen still has a desire to fight and that he calls out in his sleep, blaming himself for relinquishing his position in the Corps. Despite this, Tengen remained retired and dutifully served as a bodyguard to Nezuko and Kiriya Ubuyashiki alongside Shinjuro Rengoku, where he would go on to give his compliments to the son of his late mentor and friend Kagaya. Information of Muichiro Tokito: Muichiro is a boy of fair skin complexion, short stature, and a lean-muscular build along with long straight hair of a raven-black color that fades to a cyan color as it approaches his waist. He wears his hair loose with two clumps protruding slightly from each side of his head, a set of marginally shorter hair left down to frame his face, and unruly bangs over his forehead. He also possesses large, empty-looking cyan eyes. He is identical in appearance to his older twin brother Yuichiro. He is described as thinner and smaller than Tanjiro but deceptively strong. Following his meeting with Tanjiro Kamado, and the return of his childhood memories, Muichiro's once empty looking eyes seem to now have a hopeful glimmer that is accompanied with a more upbeat and cheery expression, reminiscent of his former demeanor before the death of Yuichiro. Muichiro wears the standard Demon Slayer Corps uniform, which is black in the manga and tinted blackish teal-blue in the anime. The uniform includes a button-up jacket with a stand-up collar, featuring gold buttons and the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu?) engraved on the back of the collar, with a shirt pocket on the left breast. Beneath the jacket, he wears a white long-sleeved collared undershirt, though not visible. However, unlike the standard shirt-like cuffed sleeves, Muichiro’s uniform has longer, looser sleeves that are more reminiscent of a kimono, adding a flowing, ethereal quality to his appearance. Instead of the typical tattsuke-hakama pants wrapped with kyahan, Muichiro wears his hakama in the umanori style—a more traditional, horseback-riding cut—which, combined with his oversized sleeves, gives his entire outfit a loose and oversized silhouette. His uniform is fastened at the waist with a white belt. For footwear, he wears dark teal-blue tabi socks and a pair of white zōri sandals with dark teal straps. When Muichiro was young, he wore a light, sleeveless yukata with a cyan mist design, similar to the darker one his brother wore when they were both ten. Due to Tanjiro's presence around him, Muichiro manifested his Demon Slayer Mark during the battle against the Upper Rank 5 Gyokko. Muichiro's mark is blood red coloured, resembling mist shaped clouds on both his cheeks and the left side of his forehead. Muichiro is an air-headed individual who seems to constantly wander off in thought and is unable to focus on anything. Impassive and, at times, obtuse, he tends to think only for himself and operates on logic alone, never letting emotions guide him, making him seem seemingly apathetic and indifferent. However, Tanjiro Kamado sensed that Muichiro wasn't being apathetic on purpose as he didn't emanate any animosity. Despite his mostly uncaring and unserious demeanor, he has been shown to become serious when it is required and is intensely devoted to his position as the Demon Slayer Corps' Mist Hashira. Additionally, he seems to display a cold and arrogant side, as shown by him violently shaking down Kotetsu, calling him stupid, claiming that his time as a Hashira was important, more so than his own, and that all that the swordsmiths could do was make weapons. Despite this, Muichiro doesn't seem to be indifferent towards Kagaya Ubuyashiki, most likely due to his immense respect for his master. However, before the death of his twin brother when the siblings were eleven, Muichiro's personality was that of a much more compassionate and optimistic individual, the polar opposite of his current disposition. Having originally taken after his father, he was shown to display a higher level of kindness and understanding, believing he should aim to do good for others if he wanted good to be done for him. When told by Amane Ubuyashiki that they were descendants to Demon Slayers of old, Muichiro became excited at the prospect of being able to protect people. After his brother was attacked by a demon and witnessing his final moments and death, Muichiro subsequently lost his memories and has held a perpetual rage deeply suppressed inside of him that inevitably drove his future, intense training. After this memory loss, he started exhibiting the indifferent attitude of his twin brother he is now known for as a Hashira, becoming hostile, aloof, and unbothered by the opinions of others. Following his battle with Gyokko and reuniting with Tanjiro after the latter's battle with Hantengu, he warmly thanked Tanjiro for helping him regain his identity and showed concern for his wellbeing. During his later interactions with Tanjiro, Muichiro started regaining his memories of his past, causing him to behave more maturely and seriously, even choosing to help Kotetsu when his life was in danger instead of ignoring him. After his memory was fully restored, Muichiro began expressing more emotions and became more confident in himself and started caring more for his peers in the Demon Slayer Corps. He also started exhibiting emotions common for someone his age, particularly childishness and immaturity when interacting with his other Demon Slayers. He also appears to be evidently biased towards Tanjiro after his battle with Gyokko in the Swordsmith Village, as his cheerful demeanor when around him was replaced by a cold indifference when around other Demon Slayers. However, he was shown to be more aware of himself and those around him, evident when he realized that Obanai Iguro had a crush on Mitsuri Kanroji, which surprised Gyomei Himejima. His kindness also aided him in building friendships among the Demon Slayers and making happy memories like the ones back when he lived with his family. Information of Shinobu Kocho: Shinobu is a petite, young woman with a slender build and a fairly pale complexion. She has large eyes that lack pupils, only a haze of gradient purple, making her eyes appear similar to those of insects, and rose pink lips. She has raven-black wavy hair that fades into a dark purple hue at the ends, styled at the back of her head into a flat yakai-maki bun fastened with a white, turquoise and light purple butterfly ornament. She has center-split, ear-length, voluminous curtain bangs that flow down to frame the sides of her face, with two slightly thinner chin-length locks of hair in front of her ears below them. Both of which grow an inch longer later on in the series. She stands out among the more physically imposing Hashira due to her diminutive stature and small frame, which is later reinforced by her mentioning that she does not possess enough physical strength to decapitate a demon as the others do. According to Zenitsu, Shinobu is so cute that she could make a living on her looks alone. Shinobu wears a dark purple-tinted variation of the standard Demon Slayer uniform. It consists of a button-up jacket with a stand-up collar and long sleeves, featuring gold buttons and a shirt pocket on the left breast, with the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu) engraved on the back of the collar. Beneath the jacket, she wears a white long-sleeved collared undershirt. Her long, saggy tattsuke-hakama pants are also tinted dark purple and are fastened at the waist with a white belt. Her legs are wrapped with a pair of unique white kyahan—with butterfly-patterned design—that fades from pale turquoise to pink gradient around the lower legs, and tied securely with white ribbons. Her tabi socks match the dark purple color of her uniform. Over her uniform, she wears a distinctive white haori that once belonged to her late older sister, Kanae Kocho. The haori features a butterfly wing pattern inspired by the Monarch Butterfly, with a color gradient that fades from white into pale turquoise and then pink on the sleeves and hem, that are cuffed with a black trim, with white-pale turquoise dots, resembling butterfly wing edges. For footwear, Shinobu wears white zōri sandals with purple straps, and she conceals a hidden blade in the right sandal—used as a last resort weapon. When Shinobu was fourteen, her appearance was altered slightly. Her chin-length strands of hair in front of her ears were tucked in and she had a different Demon Slayer uniform consisting of silver buttons and cloth a darker shade of purple. She also sported a plain white haori over it. Shinobu displays a bright, friendly and cheerful demeanor, always having an easygoing smile on her face regardless of the situation she is in. However, her outward behavior is shown very quickly to be a façade. This is displayed in the way she enjoys teasing others, to the point of being rather sardonic about it, enjoying most notably to pick on Giyu Tomioka. Despite her relaxed exterior and her initial claim of wanting to get along with demons, she can be rather cruel towards them, which is seen when she kills Daughter after giving her false hope of helping her, and immediately attempting to kill Nezuko Kamado without giving Tanjiro Kamado a chance to prove that she was harmless to humans. Later on, she is shown to have a more compassionate side towards both Tanjiro and his sister after hearing their full story. It is later revealed that her outwardly calm and tranquil disposition is worn as a mask, as Shinobu holds an intense hatred for demons due to the loss of her sister, Kanae Kocho, at a young age, along with the deaths of her parents, almost all of her Tsuguko, and the families of her apprentices at the Butterfly Mansion. This hatred is so strong that she is in a near-constant state of extreme anger, which is sensed by Tanjiro Kamado when the two individuals hold a conversation. Her desire for revenge rendered her unable to live the normal life her sister had wished upon her, instead devoting the entirety of her energy to defeating demons. During her battle against Doma, Shinobu reveals that she also suffers from an inferiority complex due to her inferior physical abilities compared to her fellow Hashira, having been jealous of them for possessing taller or more muscular bodies than her and cursing her own body for not developing further to make her more effective in combat. Shinobu's younger self had a more brash, blunt and uncomplicated demeanor as seen when she and her sister rescued Kanao Tsuyuri, who she had a pointedly negative attitude towards raising. After the death of Kanae, however, Shinobu began to outwardly behave more like her sister and eventually developed her positive attitude and mannerisms to match while internally holding in her rage, which she later clarifies is fueled by her desire to continuously display the smile that her sister favored. Though never shown onscreen, Shinobu has a notable temper, namely in the way that makes even the loud and brash Inosuke Hashibira take notice. Information of Mitsuri Kanroji: Mitsuri is a curvaceous young woman of pale skin complexion, whose slender, graceful build belies her deceptive muscular strength. She stands slightly taller than average. She has large round, pale green eyes with long black eyelashes and many notable white sparkles reflecting light off of them, a small beauty mark beneath each of them, and light pink lips. Mitsuri has long and visibly thick sakura pink hair that fades into a lime green color at the halfway point, which she wears in three thick braids. She has five shorter, choppy clumps hanging over her face as voluminous bangs, the tips lime green as well. She has been called beautiful and charming on multiple occasions. At the age of seventeen, Mitsuri once dyed her hair black in an attempt to appear "normal" during her second marriage proposal. Mitsuri wears a heavily customized version of the standard Demon Slayer Corps uniform, which is black in the manga and tinted light plum in the anime. Her outfit consists of a tight-fitting button-up jacket with a stand-up collar and long sleeves, featuring gold buttons and a shirt pocket on the left breast, with the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu) engraved on the back of the collar. Beneath this, she wears a white long-sleeved collared undershirt. Due to the snug fit of her uniform, both the chest of the jacket and the upper portion of her undershirt are left unbuttoned and open, exposing her cleavage. Instead of the standard tattsuke-hakama pants, Mitsuri wears a short pleated mini-skirt, maintaining the color and fabric style of her uniform. Her waist is fastened with the standard white belt. Over her uniform, she wears a plain white haori—a gift given to her by Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira and her mentor. For legwear, she dons a pair of lime green thigh-high stockings with vertical stripes and teal cuffs at the top. These were a gift from Obanai Iguro, the Serpent Hashira. Her footwear consists of white zōri sandals with pink straps, tied at the front in decorative bows. While at the Swordsmith Village, Mitsuri wore a kimono with floral designs and a haori. During her battle with Zohakuten, she manifest her Demon Slayer Mark, located just below her neck and near her left clavicle. It appears as two red hearts positioned opposite from each other, aligned by two red teardrop-shaped spots in the middle. During her and the other remaining Hashira's fight against Muzan, Mitsuri's left and back braids are cut off by Muzan Kibutsuji's attacks, now shortened to shoulder length, and part of her left ear is also torn at the side. Mitsuri also loses both of her arms in the process of ripping off Muzan's left arm. Mitsuri is a very emotional, passionate, and jovial individual who constantly compliments and swoons over her comrades in her head, likely a contributing factor towards her nickname as "the Hashira of Love." Although she can be shy and is easily flustered, Mitsuri is always kind to others. However, despite her gentle and seemingly innocent demeanor, Mitsuri will show no mercy in the face of demons, instead expressing such sentiments with a fierce tone. She showcases a great amount of dedication to the Demon Slayers' cause. Despite being put out of commission by Muzan at an early stage in their battle, she was determined enough to return and fight. Given her desperation for marriage, Mitsuri decided to become a member of the Corps with the purpose of finding a suitable husband stronger than her, a rather difficult task given the astounding level of her physical strength. Upon joining the Corps, she felt an immense amount of guilt for her reasoning behind becoming a Demon Slayer to the point where she ate much less than her typical meals. However, she was able to move past those feelings with the help of Shinobu Kocho and Obanai Iguro. Besides her rather emotional personality, Mitsuri can also come off as somewhat childlike at times. When she is asked to explain the process of obtaining the Demon Slayer Mark, she describes it using bizarre onomatopoeia. She's also prone to exaggerated over-reactions. She is a very caring person, always showing others her love as befits her Hashira title. She can get rather excitable, grabbing her friends for a big group hug after the battle against Gyokko and Hantengu. When she is slashed by Muzan and taken out of the battle by Obanai, she says she wants to be of use and not drag everyone else down. She even begs for Obanai to come back and not get himself killed. This alludes to her love for him, the person she can finally feel for and be loved by. She shares Obanai's hope that they could reincarnate, meet each other and get married in another life. Information of Obanai Iguro: Obanai is a young man of short stature, pale skin complexion, and a lean, muscular build. He has straight-edged raven-black hair of varying lengths, the longest reaching down to his shoulders and the shortest stopping at his cheekbones, which he wears down with two shorter strands hanging between his eyes. His eyes are almond-shaped and tilt upwards on the far sides, and are unique colored due to Obanai possessing heterochromia—his right eye is yellow and his left eye is teal. He is partially blind, barely able to see out of his right eye. Obanai's mouth is usually hidden by the bandage he wears over his lower face to hide his large facial scars, which were the result of his family horrifically cutting open his mouth to resemble that of a snake's gape. Obanai wears the standard Demon Slayer Corps uniform, which is black in the manga and tinted a deep koamaru color in the anime. The uniform consists of a button-up jacket with a stand-up collar and long sleeves, adorned with gold buttons, a shirt pocket on the left breast, and the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu) engraved on the back of the collar. Beneath the jacket, he wears a white long-sleeved collared undershirt. The uniform is fastened at the waist with a white belt and paired with traditional tattsuke-hakama pants in the same koamaru hue. Over his uniform, Obanai wears his signature black-and-white striped haori, the hem and cuffs of which are striped length ways rather than vertically, which covers his hands. For legwear, instead of the standard kyahan, Obanai wraps his lower legs in white bandages, giving the visual impression of traditional kyahan wraps. He also wears another set of white bandages around his lower face. His footwear consists of white zōri sandals with lavender straps, worn over koamaru-colored tabi socks to match the color tint of his uniform. He is also always seen with his white snake, Kaburamaru, wrapped around his shoulders. During the battle with Muzan, Obanai and the other remaining Hashira are attacked by the demon's flailing whips, and Obanai is left with three long slanted scratches over his eyes, rendering him completely blind. When he was a child, Obanai had waist-length hair that he wore tied down his back with a long white bandage and a regular-looking mouth before it was cut by his family to resemble the Serpent Demon worshipped by his clan. He also wore a plain white kimono. Obanai is a very harsh and strict individual who shows no concern for those who do not abide by the rules of the Demon Slayer Corps. His expectations for his fellow Demon Slayers are quite unrealistic, as he was seen berating Tengen Uzui for suffering heavy wounds against the lowest Upper Rank which he called the "weakest" and telling him to "fight to the death" when Tengen insists on retiring. Tengen's retirement also highlights Obanai's devotion to the future of the Demon Slayer Corps, often at others' expense, such as when he ties up lower-ranked Demon Slayers and uses them as obstacles during Hashira Training for relatively petty reasons. He also sees the newer Demon Slayer recruits as weak and incapable of improvement, expressing extreme surprise when Tengen informs him that Tanjiro Kamado survived the battle with Daki and Gyutaro. Obanai has a rather prominent habit of pointing at people with his finger in an accusatory manner while berating them or talking badly about someone. Despite his merciless personality, there are two people he cares deeply about: Kagaya Ubuyashiki and Mitsuri Kanroji. He has a crush on Mitsuri, as he often lets his feelings shine through by sharing meals with her and giving gifts, such as the signature green socks she wears with her uniform. Obanai seems to let his overprotectiveness of Mitsuri show at times, such as when he threatens Tanjiro for growing too close to her. It was implied that he has a crush on Mitsuri because of her cheerful personality that didn't let any of the hellish training she had gone through to radiate in the slightest. Talking with her also made him forget all the strife and conflict he had encountered during his past and made him feel as if he was an ordinary young man. Like all the Hashira, Obanai has a great deal of respect for Kagaya too. Obanai is also noted to possess an immense sense of self-loathing due to the fact that he was born to a selfish and immoral clan who would mercilessly sacrifice even newborn children to a demon for their own monetary gain. Obanai considers himself and his family so tainted that years after they were killed, he still felt as if his family were digging their nails into his skin to make sure he couldn't go anywhere. He even goes as far as to believe that, in order for him to ever be worthy of Mitsuri, he would first have to die and cleanse himself of his corrupted blood before confessing his feelings to her. His upbringing also seems to be the cause of his gynophobia since he was born into a family of only women who treated him like a tool. The trauma of his past can also be seen in the form of his facial bandages that he dons to cover the terrible scars he received, never removing it until the final battle. In addition to the horrible treatment he received from his family, of being treated as a mere tool and sacrifice, Obanai was deeply affected by the words of resentment and hatred from his only surviving cousin when she said that the entire family died simply because he ran away. Although he recognized that her grudge and words were illogical, he chose to accept that he was at fault and even considered himself as corrupt as his family was, believing he was not worthy to live a normal life. This shows that despite the various unpleasant traits of his personality, Obanai actually has a conscience and morals, unlike his family. Obanai has an incredible sense of determination, continuing the fight against Muzan even after he is completely blinded and covered in wounds. His ability to protect Giyu and Tanjiro throughout the fight, as well as thanking Tanjiro for helping him and later even took a blow for him proves that Obanai was able to drop his initial grudges and become more open with people he was rude to prior. Information of Gyomei Himejima: Gyomei is a hulking figure among the Demon Slayers, standing as one of the tallest characters in the series and easily towering over his fellow Hashira. He is a powerfully built, extremely muscular man, with a slightly tanned skin tone. He has a medium, spiky, black hair that is shaved along the sides of his head and a prominent scar running horizontally across his forehead. Having been blind since childhood, he has white eyes with no visible irises or pupils. His eyes frequently tear-up when he gets emotional. Gyomei wears a standard black Demon Slayer Corps uniform, tinted grayish black in the anime. His uniform consists of a button-up jacket with a stand-up collar and long sleeves, featuring gold buttons, a shirt pocket on the left breast, and the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu) engraved on the back of the collar. However, Gyomei’s jacket is heavily customized—it is worn unbuttoned at the top to expose his chest, with only the last button fastened, and the sleeves are rolled up. His uniform is secured at the waist with the standard white belt and paired of tattsuke-hakama pants. Beneath the uniform, he wears a purple undershirt resembling a kimono, complete with a prominent white yuban collar. Around his lower legs, he wears bandages wrapped around his shins in place of traditional kyahan. For footwear, Gyomei wears white zōri sandals with gray straps, notably without tabi socks. Draped over his shoulders is a distinct olive-green happi, which features religious iconography. The collared frame of the happi bears the kanji for the Japanese Nianfo/Shin Buddha chant (南な無む阿あ弥み陀だ仏ぶつ, Namu Amida Butsu) from the top-down, along with the separate kanji all over at the back. Around his neck, he sports a large red-beaded necklace and carries a set of red ojuzu beads when not in battle. During his time as a monk and caretaker, Gyomei wore a similar hairstyle to his current appearance. His simple attire consisted of a olive green yukata and pants, tied with a lighter green sash. Physically, he was noticeably shorter and slimmer due to malnutrition brought on by his unfavourable living situation and his own willingness to go hungry and let the children he cared for eat instead. He sustained his signature scar from a demon attack during this period. He sustains a scar across his forehead after being slashed by a crescent moon blade from Kokushibo. His left leg from the knee below was later severed during the battle against Muzan. Gyomei embodies the gentle giant archetype, being surprisingly soft-spoken and sensitive, despite his outwardly intimidating appearance. He is also shown to be quite pious, carrying his prayer beads at all times and offering prayers in poignant situations. Most notably, Gyomei easily cries over the most insignificant things, accentuating his rather soft nature. This could be due to his love for all living creatures brought about by his religious upbringing, and insinuated when he felt so disgusted by beating up a demon that he would never forget that feeling for the rest of his life. Like the rest of the Hashira, Gyomei has a great deal of respect for Kagaya Ubuyashiki, of which no small part was due to the Oyakata saving his life. He is also one of the most respected individuals among the Demon Slayer Corps, not only due to being a member of the Hashira but because he serves as a symbol of hope due to his immense strength: Shinobu Kocho had once stated that when Gyomei fights, it puts everyone around him at ease.[7] Furthermore, Gyomei serves as a leader for them, as seen when he sat at the front during Hashira meetings and was often looked to for his word and opinion. He was entrusted by Kagaya to give out orders to them, due to both Gyomei being the oldest and because Kagaya had known him for the longest out of anyone outside his own family. Though he maintains a fairly reserved disposition, Gyomei harbors a very objective and somewhat suspicious view of the people around him, owing to his experiences before becoming a Demon Slayer. He is ever cognizant of what others, particularly children or those younger than him, are capable of if given the opportunity. By reason of his doubtful nature, it can take a while for Gyomei to completely accept and trust others. When he does open up and let others in, he is unwavering in his commitment to them. Gyomei greatly values the principles that allowed him to achieve his status as a Hashira, rejecting Kokushibo's notion that he must become a demon in order to preserve the physical abilities and skills he had devoted himself to, and retorts his statement by saying that being a Demon Slayer means accepting the fact that seeing tomorrow is not guaranteed and that no one can become a Hashira with Kokushibo's half hearted resolution. As with Kyojuro Rengoku, the Stone Hashira also believes that living and dying as humans preserve one's dignity, and he even took the Upper Rank's statement as an insult and demanded the demon does not force his self-righteous belief onto him, further accentuating how dearly he holds onto his values. Additionally, despite his generally reserved and polite disposition, in that moment, angered by Kokushibo's outright rejection of his humanity, Gyomei taunted him for lying about the fate of those who have gained the Demon Slayer Marks, prodding the demon for hiding the fact that someone has likely lived past the age of 25 and laughing at his visible apprehension. Information of Giyu Tomioka: Giyu is a fairly tall young man of a lean muscular stature and pale complexion, who is almost always seen wearing a stoic expression. He has choppy raven-black hair of uneven lengths, with jaw length side-bangs, a low messy ponytail at the base of his neck, and bangs falling over his eyes in a choppy fringe. His eyes are sharp and moderately large, having irises a lapis blue color, and their pupils a navy blue, sometimes having his irises completely opaque and empty, just in lapis blue color, and are framed by thin eyebrows. Giyu wears the standard Demon Slayer Corps uniform, colored black in the manga and tinted charcoal in the anime. It consists of a button-up jacket with a stand-up collar and long sleeves, featuring gold buttons and a shirt pocket on the left breast, with the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu) engraved on the back of the collar. Beneath the jacket, he wears a white long-sleeved collared undershirt. The uniform is fastened at the waist with a white belt and includes a pair of tattsuke-hakama pants, which are wrapped at the calves with white kyahan. On his feet, he wears tabi socks that match the dark charcoal tone of his uniform, along with white zōri sandals with navy blue straps. Over this, Giyu wears a distinctive haori that is split down the middle into two contrasting halves: the right half is a solid carmine, while the left half is decorated in a traditional geometrically patterned rhombi, consisting of green, dark green, orange, and yellow. These haori halves are sentimental mementos, with the red side formerly belonging to his late older sister, Tsutako Tomioka, and the patterned side to his deceased friend and fellow apprentice, Sabito. During his battle with Muzan Kibutsuji, he loses his right arm. After the fight, Giyu cuts his hair down to neck length, and he is seen wearing a button-up collared shirt under a kimono, and umanori hakama pants. While Giyu was training under Sakonji Urokodaki, he wore a dark red haori which would later make up his current one as well as black tucked-in tattsuke-hakama pants and his current white leg-wrapped kyahan and pair of white zōri with dark blue straps. In addition, he also wears the warding masks that are signature to Sakonji's pupils. For Giyu, it is a white fox mask with light blue eyes. Giyu is a man of strong equanimity, always wearing a calm and stern expression on his face. Having a stoic personality, and possessing a very strong sense of justice and responsibility, he had no tolerance towards those who don't know their own limitations and throw away their lives. Despite letting Nezuko Kamado live due to Tanjiro Kamado's determination, he shows zero hesitation when killing other demons and has no respect or mercy towards them like most Demon Slayers. Even so, Giyu violated the Demon Slayer Corps' code of conduct without hesitation to protect Nezuko during Shinobu's attempt to kill her. This implies that he doesn't completely despise demons as some other Hashira do, and is willing to make an exception for a demon by letting them live if they don't kill and eat humans. This shows that he is more pragmatic and impartial in dealing with demons rather letting his hatred cloud his judgement. Due to his aloof personality, Giyu is not close to his fellow Hashira. While some are on even terms but emotionally distant from him, others view him with apathy, or even disdain; Sanemi Shinazugawa and Obanai Iguro were particularly contemptuous of the Water Hashira due to unfoundedly misreading his aloofness as arrogance. Giyu also expressed surprise when Shinobu Kocho mentioned that he is hated by the others; despite this, he remains on good terms with her, with both having a great deal of history together. In the end, after defeating Muzan Kibutsuji, he ended up developing a closer friendship with both Tengen Uzui, and his former rival Sanemi. He is of very few words and isn't very good interacting with others, choosing to observe from a distance quietly. He even goes out of his way to tell Akaza that he hates talking and wants to keep his name to himself, as he thinks names are not meant to be shared, especially to demons. He could also be quite sardonic as shown when he frankly berates Inosuke Hashibira for mistaking Father as a member of the Twelve Kizuki, and sarcastically insulting Sanemi for complaining that the way to achieve a Demon Slayer Mark was simple. However his quiet behavior could become a detriment to Giyu's reputation, as the Water Hashira did not explain his deeper emotional feelings with his colleagues, and uncooperatively declined explaining his reasoning to not particpate in Hashira Training, angering Sanemi and Obanai, and even causing his closest ally Shinobu to ask Giyu to explain himself. Beneath his seemingly unemotional and aloof attitude, Giyu suffers from an inferiority complex which he developed since his participation in Final Selection. This self-doubt in himself caused him to initially refuse to participate in Hashira Training due to in his words "not being like [the Hashira]", and it reached the point where he contemplates abandoning his position as the Water Hashira until Tanjiro helps him realize that instead of acting on his survivor's guilt, he should cherish his life and live on for the people who sacrificed their lives for him. This feeling of survivor's guilt strikes again when he believes Tanjiro has died after the fight against Muzan. Giyu, while he sheds tears, admits how he is always the one who is saved. Despite his stoic nature, Giyu is shown to be protective and caring towards those he is close to and considers his friends. This is first shown when he puts his life on the line for Tanjiro and Nezuko by vowing to commit seppuku if the latter were ever to eat a human. Giyu has been shown to lose his composure and usual stoic demeanor when those he cares about are in danger, as seen when he is greatly angered by Akaza's attempt to kill Tanjiro and visibly shocked when he hears the news of Shinobu's death. This is further shown in the fact that he still wears half of Sabito, his late best friend's, and his older sister's haori as a memento of them. However, Giyu appears to be particular in who he shows emotions for, as he doesn't appear to react at all when informed of the passing of Genya Shinazugawa and Muichiro Tokito. Despite this, Giyu will not let his personal relationships get in the way of his duty. When Tanjiro begins his assault as a demon, Giyu is the first to announce that they need to take him down, despite his brotherly-type relationship with Tanjiro. Following the death of Muzan Kibutsuji and the eradication of demons for good, it is clear that Giyu has been able to embrace his happier side, shown by his smiles towards the Kamado siblings and even Sanemi, which shows how much their combative relationship has slowly developed into one of mutual respect. In his childhood while training under Sakonji Urokodaki, Giyu is shown to have a much more cheery disposition, even after the tragic loss of sister. This can be attributed to his friendship with fellow trainee Sabito, as the two were very happy in each other’s company. After Sabito’s death during Final Selection, Giyu flies into a depressive episode. By Giyu’s own commentary, he admits to wanting to stifle this memory to prevent his tears, implying that a reason for his emotionless persona was to prevent himself from grieving that way that he did following the death of his friend Information of Sanemi Shinazugawa: Sanemi is a tall, very muscular young man with a light skin tone, and long, spiky, ruffled white hair, featuring two large bangs on the left and middle side of his face. His large almond-shaped eyes have long eyelashes and purple irises with dark swirls, which turn bloodshot when he's angry. He also has dark patches beneath his eyes, making him appear perpetually tired or restless. His face and body are covered with scars, accrued over his many years of fighting demons. He cuts his hair short somewhere in between the events of the Hashira meeting and the Mugen Train incident. He is usually seen wearing a crazed expression on his face. Sanemi wears the standard Demon Slayer Corps uniform, which is black in the manga and tinted a dark green in the anime. His uniform consists of a button-up jacket with a stand-up collar and long sleeves, featuring gold buttons and a shirt pocket on the left breast, with the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu) engraved on the back of the collar. Beneath his uniform, he wears a white long-sleeved collared undershirt. Unlike the typical wear, Sanemi’s jacket and undershirt is left almost entirely unbuttoned, exposing his chest and toned abs, with only the lowest button fastened. The sleeves of his jacket and undershirt are rolled up to his elbows. He completes his outfit with a pair of matching tattsuke-hakama pants, fastened with a white belt. Over this, he wears a white long-sleeved haori bearing the kanji for Kill (殺さつ, satsu) etched on the back. For legwear, Sanemi wraps his lower legs in white buckled straps instead of traditional kyahan, and wears dark green tabi socks to match his uniform tint. His footwear consists of white zōri sandals with green straps. During his battle with Kokushibo, he loses his right index and middle fingers. Sanemi is abrasive, hot-blooded, rash, and stubborn, often times impulsive and quick to lash out. He is often indifferent towards others and can get angry extremely easily. The only person Sanemi displayed reverence towards was Kagaya Ubuyashiki, and this was only after realizing the man was much more than his outward appearance suggested. Sanemi has also displayed a hunger for battle, wishing that he could encounter Upper Rank demons and proclaiming his excitement in fighting Upper Rank One, Kokushibo. Sanemi's cold, rude, and dismissive behavior is the result of losing too many people he cared about in the past. Later, when he sees those people who have passed, such as his mother, he can't help but give her a smile to be able to see her again. When Genya joins the Demon Slayers in search of him, Sanemi repeatedly dismisses and lashes out during any chance of seeing him, but Tanjiro Kamado is able to tell Sanemi didn't truly hate him; and in fact still bore the same brotherly love he had for him in childhood. This was however never expressed outwardly as he tried to push Genya away from him and the Demon Slayers so he wouldn't be exposed to danger. Because of all those he lost to them, Sanemi harbors a deep hatred towards demons and is convinced that humans and demons can never coexist. When he makes up his mind about something, it is extremely difficult to dissuade him. He did not believe Tanjiro's insistence that Nezuko Kamado wouldn't eat humans and even moves to prove his own point by stabbing through the box with Nezuko inside. After riling her up, he slashes his own arm to try and bait her into attacking him due to his rare blood's effect. Even after she doesn't, and Kagaya uses this as proof Nezuko won't attack humans, Sanemi doesn't truly accept the Kamado siblings. Tanjiro is ultimately right about Sanemi. Despite his poor treatment of his brother, Genya, Sanemi truly did love and care for his brother, admitting that he blames himself for not protecting him. He even expresses that he wished that Genya would settle down and have a family. Following the battle with Upper Rank One, Sanemi shows not only great anger and a certain emptiness towards Muzan, but more cooperation with the likes of Giyu, someone he clearly did not get along with in the past. Even when Sanemi is launched out of the battle against Muzan, he displays undeniable courage and determination, like his fellow Hashira. When the showdown with Muzan is finally over and time has passed, Sanemi has clearly mellowed out a bit. He is able to smile with Giyu, even after their past confrontations. Most surprisingly, he admits his mistakes and apologizes to Nezuko about his actions. It goes to the point he gives her a smile and a pat on the head, as he sees Genya in the way she responds.
