Kim Soleum is the main character of the story Got Dropped Into A Ghost Story, Still Gotta Work. After participating in a pop-up event for the DER Wiki, he found himself transmigrated into DER universe.

He was initially a Field Exploration Team member of Daydream Inc. where he served as a Supervisor in Team D under the mask Roe Deer. He worked alongside Lee Jaheon (Lizard), Eun Haje (Falcon), and Park Minseong (Badger).

Appearance: He is approximately 170 cm to 180 cm tall. His impression is neat and cool. Black hair, dark eyes, pale skin. Baek Saheon says that he would never get into trouble with drunkards even at night. Thanks to this, his cowardly personality is not easily revealed. Judging from the fact that he was told that his face “shines” just like Lee Jaheon, who is known as a handsome man, Kim Soleum is likely to be handsome. Afterwards, Braun, who values external appearances more than anything else, said, “It would be a shame to lose that face,” so it is highly likely that he has outstanding looks. He has two tattoos (Socius & 恩主) on his left arm, both were given by monsters and, aside from other monsters, they can only be seen by Kim Soleum himself. When Braun is in his Good Friend form, Kim Soleum would always bring the small bunny plushie (Braun’s vessel) with him everywhere in a chest pocket.

Personality: Contrary to his name, Kim Soleum is easily frightened by both ghost and gore things, so he always tries to finish any ghost story as quickly as possible using the knowledge from his original world. However, he is good at keeping a poker face, so even his groupmates think he is a collected and brave guy. Putting aside his wiki-knowledge, Kim Soleum is incredibly quick-witted and has excellent judgment, execution, and creative skills. He usually manages to clear the darkness even when he is somewhat reckless or puts himself in danger. This makes him stand out in the company, known for often escaping Darkness with methods not from the manual and breaking many records, including being the fastest employee to get promoted to the chief position only 60 days after getting into the company. He is also good at catching on to what other people want from their actions. He is also excellent at setting and acting out characters that fit the situation. He plays the crazy guy in front of Baek Saheon and acts like a reckless MZ in front of Kwak Jekang to hide his true personality. In order to clear the Trial of Utopia ghost story, he pretended to be a cult leader, and his performance receives rave reviews from Braun.

Traits Although it was never directly stated, Kim Soleum seems to be quite strong. In the Mansion of the Blind, there is a description of him grabbing Baek Saheon, who was running at full speed, by the back of his neck, lifting him and throwing him into a vent, carrying a fainting male student in a weak state on his back, pulling up Jin Nasol who was crushed by the Magic Bunny, holding on to the handle and holding on for a moment with his grip when a high-speed train bound for Tamra was leaning forward, and subduing an opponent holding a cutter knife by twisting it with one arm. He possesses incredible strength that an ordinary adult man could never achieve. With some strength 'skills' lent/given by his tattoos & Braun as well.

Tattoos :Socius: A membership pass of the Fun Theme Park given by Blue Dragon to Kim Soleum. It seemed to also make Kim Soleum being considered as a member or insider by other monsters, such as the case when he picked up the 1000 year-old ginseng in Lord Sangun or when he was in the Back Alley Boutique Shop of ■■■ 16th Road.

Lord of Grace A tattoo of : 恩主 : that Kim Soleum got after he signed a contract with the lodge keeper. Although it had no special abilities at first, the tattoo was upgraded (covered-up) at the Moonlight Tattoo Shop and now has inventory function. According to Braun, it was because the contract included 'provision of space'. The inventory volume is equal to a cube with a side of about 2 feet (60.96 cm), but it has no fixed shape so even an adult man (Park Minseong) could fit inside. The tattoo is located on Kim Soleum's left forearm.

Backstory (This section refers to the background of human Kim Soleum in his original world) Kim Soleum was an office worker who, despite being a scaredy-cat, liked Darkness Exploration Records to the point of participating in writing an exploration record himself (In the Dark Shadow : Exploration Record #13). One day, he went to a pop-up event, joined a roulette event to create his own Darkness Exploration Records character, and unexpectedly won the 1st place gift on the lucky roulette. However, as he received the gift, he suddenly found himself in the Orientation Event for the Field Exploration Team of Daydream Inc., the exact same position as the ‘character’ he created at the pop-up. It was never mentioned what his original age range was before entering DER worldview. However, it was mentioned that, after entering Darkness Exploration Records, Kim Soleum had regressed to several years prior and is now in his 20s, around the time he had just graduated university (commonly around 26-27 y/o). Based on this information, he was predicted to be in his late 20s or early 30s in his original world.

Relationship Lee Jaheon is the Group D Leader and a direct superior of Kim Soleum. On their first meeting, Kim Soleum was surprised to see that Lee Jaheon had an actual head of a lizard matching his codename (everybody else sees Lee Jaheon as a handsome man). As Kim Soleum grows to tolerate and even depend on Lee Jaheon as a reliable superior, he frequently seeks advice and help from Lee Jaheon who continues to be willing to help Kim Soleum even out of Daydream. Lee Jaheon, despite his quirks, is a dependable senior that Kim Soleum respects. They have saved each other multiple times.

Park Minseon. Even since they were both in Group D, Park Minseong had always taken good care of Kim Soleum, and Kim Soleum also trusted him as his fellow groupmate. Because they are both excellent marksmen, their relationship is strong.

Eun Haje is Kim Soleum's senior in Group D. Similar to Park Minseong, she has always taken good care of him and has sought to shield him from the unsavory side of Daydream on several occasions such as when she told Kim Soleum to call in sick during the Mansion of the Blind ghost story and when she told Kim Soleum to not get close to Jang Heowoon because he was a member of Group Y. When Eun Haje was chosen as the hangman in Hungry Hangman, Kim Soleum tried everything to save her and after she publicly left Daydream, she continued to help and protect Kim Soleum. Kim Soleum also let Eun Haje use his custom equipment to make an item that could replace her missing hand.

Baek Saheon (Goat) was the first named character that Kim Soleum met upon entering the worldview. Known with the nickname 'Viper', Baek Saheon is a character with a bad personality, so Kim Soleum put up a psycho persona since their first meeting so as to not be taken advantage on. They became roommates, though maintained a vitriolic relationship.

Braun believes that Kim Soleum is his 'good friend'. Initially, Braun was bound by the Good Friend doll and, though he maintained a good-willed and cheerful personality, he was secretly easing Kim Soleum into a false sense of security. Braun eventually tricks Kim Soleum into placing him into the Bloody Bloody Bathtub to restore his power through the doll and kidnaps Kim Soleum to work on his Late Night Talkshow. He truly believes that he is a good friend for Kim Soleum, but has a warped sense of morals because of his nature as a ghost story. He does not think that Daydream is a good work environment for Kim Soleum because he knows that he is a coward and recognizes that Kim Soleum is a masterful actor and entertainer who is great at storytelling. Though Kim Soleum has to constantly remind himself that Braun is not to be trusted, he still grows to depend on Braun's companionship. Braun has helped him out regardless of the Good Friend ritual, such as when Kim Soleum was freaking out while driving a ghost in a taxi. However, he can just as much refuse to help Kim Soleum even in times of crisis if he thinks that it could be entertaining or simply because Braun does not understand why Kim Soleum would want to avoid a specific set of outcomes.

Blue Dragon The Blue Dragon believes that Kim Soleum is a 'Good Child' and granted him a tattoo that proclaimed them as kin. They were saddened when Kim Soleum never visited them and mistakenly believed that Lee Jaheon kidnapped him, which led to them posting missing child's posters on the wrappers of chocolate bars that were eventually sold in ■■■ 16th Road.

Trivia He is ambidextrous. His favorite number is 13. The origin of Kim Soleum's name 솔음 (sol-eum) is guessed to be a pun of 소름 (so-reum) which means 'goosebumps'. His friends in the real world often teased him as his name contradicts with his cowardly nature. Kim Soleum is confirmed as a non-earthling as he could not light the Mysterious Candle Kit. It is said that there was a code name that he wanted to use if he were a named agent in Supernatural Disaster Management Bureau. Judging from the fact that the items from the Real Goods Box Set are mostly items from the Supernatural Disaster Management Bureau, it seems that Kim Soleum had a deep interest in it back when he was in his original world. His lunch recommendation is Galbitang.

The collector only responds to humans, and each collector has a serial number engraved on it. Clearing a high level ghost story without a dream collector will grant you ‘the right to receive a new collector’. The dream collector of a deceased employee is returned to the company. It is self-powered, powered by the dreams collected before death. It includes a light recording function, so the company can check and refer to the exploration records of employees who have been erased from reality.
