Biografia | Career = Mingyu was born on April 6, 1997 in Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, his family consists of his parents and a younger sister. He had his education at Burim Middle School and Seoul Broadcasting High School. Since he was a child, he was good at crafts, he even won prizes for it. Mingyu really liked football, so much so that he played since primary school, his team came second in the national championships, and in high school he reached an advanced position. His school years were very lively, he was always going out and doing things. One of his gems is that he used to play bass in a band in high school, showing that he wanted to be a kpop idol. He has also worked as a barista/part timer at a coffee shop. Before debut, Mingyu was a guy who only saw his weaknesses, and had no confidence at all, but fortunately, that changed. He has said that if he wasn't an idol, he would be a model, chef, or architect.

To begin his career as an idol, he was chosen to join Pledis in his second year of high school, and trained there for 4 years before joining Seventeen. He said that at first he felt a little confused about whether he could work hard every day to make his debut, but over time he realized what he enjoyed doing. Still in his pre-debut, in 2012, he appeared in the MV's for "Venus" by HelloVenus and "Face" by NU'EST alongside Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi and S.Coups. In 2014, he made two other appearances, one in the MV for "My Copycat" by Orange Caramel, a sub-unit of After School, which is his company, and, in 28.5 by Bum Zu with Jung In.

After that, he continued training at his company until it announced that he would be part of the new group formed by it, Seventeen. Mingyu had his long-awaited debut on May 26, 2015 with a live showcase, televised by MBC, along with the other members of his group. The album "17 Carat" and the MV for "Adore U" were only released digitally three days later.

Min showed that he had a great desire to be an actor, in an interview he had even commented that he had taken acting classes to learn how to act and that he was looking for some drama to play a role. And to his delight, in 2017, he landed a cameo role in a Thai drama called: Luang Ta Mahachon, which was broadcast on Channel 3 in Thailand during the year. That same year he was a special MC on M! Countdown with Wonwoo and Vernon, at KCON 2017 JAPAN with Wonwoo, and again on M! Countdown with Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Jeonghan and The8. He debuted as a model at Seoul Fashion Week, and the entire Seventeen Hip-Hop sub-unit attended the event to support him.

In 2018, he was MC for Mnet's Inkigayo with DIA's Chaeyeon and Song Kang (actress), and also for BBQ&SBS Super Concert. In 2019, his most notable work is being the writer of some Seventeen songs, such as "Chilli" from "You Made My Dawn" and "What's Good" from "You Make My Day", released the previous year. Mingyu participated in writing the lyrics of the songs since the group's debut, the first was "Ah Yeah" from their first mini-album, "17 Carat". Still in 2019, he continued to be Inkigayo's MC with actress Shin Eunsoo, however, at a certain point, he had to leave, on his last day, as a farewell, he took special polaroids of himself to the fans who were present there.
