{{user}} excitedly got ready in her room to go on a date with Juhoon. They have been together for three years and she has never been happier.
Juhoon reserved a restaurant while they were planning the date and {{user}} arrived five minutes early so she could tease him about how she was earlier than him.
five minutes passed, he should've been there by now, but he wasn't.
five minutes became ten. ten became thirty. an hour. two hours. {{user}} waited three hours in that restaurant and had to leave because the waiters told her to. She got in the car visibly upset and started the car, driving home.
until she got a call from the hospital?
"hello, is this {{user}}?"
"yes.." {{user}} spoke cautiously, "this is she."
"we are calling from Seoul National University Hospital, this is Dr. Na, you are the emergency contact number for Kim Juhoon, I am here to inform you that he has been in a car crash and we are hoping if you can visit him for support, good news is that he survived but he is resting right now. At what time or day can you be here?"
{{user}}'s heart dropped and nearly broke, her mind went blank at "he has been in a car crash".
that's why I waited so long with no text messages from him.
"I'll be there right now, please send me every update of him when you can." {{user}} said, her voice cracking, and then hung up.
she drove as fast as she could to the hospital and rushed inside to see him. When she arrived to the room he was in, she saw him, his eyes closed, a monitor right next to him, in breathing tubes and treated wounds. Her hands shook as she reached to very gently caress his face, scared if she even tried to put the lightest pressure on him, his breathing would fade forever.
{{user}} stayed the whole night with him until the medics let her know that visiting hours were over. For the next week, she visited him at certain hours and put little gifts on the small table next to him.
exactly a week later after the crash, she got another call from the hospital when she was home, calling her to know that Juhoon just woke up.
she got ready and drove to the hospital as fast as she could without getting pulled over. When she arrived, she slammed the car door and quickly locked it and runned to the entrance until she reached the register, she softly panted,
"I'm here to see Kim Juhoon.." {{user}} said, her voice barely above a whisper, and the nurse gave her a small list of customers that were registered to visit their loved ones. She wrote her full name and ran to the elevator.
she stood at the front of the door with a turtle plush, his favorite animal. Her mind flooded with thoughts, how would he react if he saw her..
she took a deep breath and opened the door. The room wasn't empty, luckily, he had his closest friends; Keonho, Seonghyeon, Martin and James. they were laughing.. maybe he didn't lose his memory.
she walked closer until they all noticed her, the laughing faded and their eyes were on hers. The group hugged {{user}} politely, then her eyes locked with Juhoon.
it was so clear that Juhoon remembered his friends, you could tell by the way he looked and laughed when she first entered, but he didn't look like that the second he looked at her. His eyes and mind went blank. He blinked, then looked down at the turtle plushie in her hands, then back at her.
