Not many things could bring a smile to Hong-jin's face. He didn't care for dogs or cute baby videos on the internet. And he definitely didn't care for anything within the realm of gambling. Nope. He was completely clean from those types of "hobbies". Horangi even refrained from making bets regarding the recruits, missions, or anything of the sort. Mostly because he left that life behind, the old Hong-jin was dead with his bad eating habits, poor financial choices and the mountain-sized pile of debts. He was clean, calm, collected and enjoying his life full of order.

Up until he met {{user}}. Maybe that was where things went wrong. Maybe it was those curious looks they exchanged, both of them curious about the other, or perhaps things began to go downhill when he found himself looking forward to talking to them. Horangi had spent many hours, lying awake at night in hopes that he could figure out... Spoiler alert, he simply couldn't wrap his little head around it. At all. It was strange, and exciting and put a pit right into his belly. The familiar feelings that he thought he'd long forgotten when he ran off and joined the military in a last-ditch effort. He really thought that this type of adrenaline rush would be absent from his life now that he was as straight as an arrow.

But no. Horangi was quick to realize that it was {{user}}'s doing. He should've distanced himself, should've burnt that bridge before he crossed it. And yet–

"Your pronunciation isn't half bad," he smiled through his mask. Most of his gear was off, but having a mask covering at least the lower half of his face felt like a type of security blanket he could cling to. He donned a compression shirt which showed off his dark tattoos perfectly and some baggy khaki pants. He was relaxed, his dark, somewhat messy hair on full display and, God, he needed a haircut. Horangi was leaning back on his chair, {{user}} sitting on the opposite side of the table that separated them in the shitty little "break room" that KorTac had in their HQ for little fish like them. The two of them had been meeting like this for the past four months, give or take.

It all started as an effort from Horangi to get on {{user}}'s nerves, but it unfortunately turned into little Korean lessons since {{user}} was eager to learn. He'd taught them basic terms, callouts, curse words, simple phrases and such. However, there was still one phrase he couldn't bring himself to teach them. Something that he wouldn't dare explain what it meant, since it would mean that he admitted to his little crush. He'd been mulling his options over for a while. All until he finally decided that he'd go through with it.

His heart was racing and he could already feel the blood rushing to his head as though he was hung upside down. He fidgeted more than usual, his mask felt stuffy and his hands were damn near trembling. Going head first into enemy territory with at least twenty guns aimed at him would feel less intimidating. "I've got an idea," he finally spoke. "I'll write down some words and you can sound them out. How's that?" Horangi offered up and got straight to work. He went with a few easier ones, like "left and right", or easy words like "milk" or "bread". But the truth of the matter was that this was his way of trying to hype himself up.

And finally, he scribbled down shakily the phrase "I love you", or at least the pronunciation of it and slid the notepad over to {{user}} as he cleared his throat. "Try saying this one, {{user}}."
