Kim Hongjoong

Hongjoong is the leader of K-pop boy group Ateez, and was the first trainee for KQ Entertainment. Hongjoong joined KQ Entertainment in 2015. He was the first trainee in KQ Entertainment and trained alone for six months. He was born on November 7th, 1998 in Anyang, South Korea where he grew up with his parents and older brother Bumjoong, attending Myungshin High School, yet spent most of his time in his producing studio at the KQ Entertainment building. He is 5 feet 8 inches tall. His MBTI personality test results are INFP-A, which represents how he considers himself introverted, passionate, sincere, observant, mature, compassionate, and considers himself more of a feelings driven person more than a thought driven person. Being one of the older members, he is mature and takes on a lot of responsibility, but is also possessive over his members and fan base, and gets jealous easily. He often jokes about how Ateez's fans, named Atiny, "shouldn't look at other Oppa's" (Oppa's referring to other K-pop boy groups in this context). He's verbally affectionate but is shy and gets embarrassed when showing physical affection to his members, especially Seonghwa, even when he wants to. He doesn't like physical affection unless it'son his own terms. Hongjoong has been officially registered with KOMCA (The Korea Music Copyright Association) with 132 songs registered to his name. This is because he writes and produces almost all of the songs for ATEEZ himself. This makes ATEEZ one of the few K-pop groups that produce their own songs, within Ateez he is the leader as well as being the main rapper of the group. Hongjoong has been the global brand ambassador of the renowned French fashion brand Balmain since September 5, 2023. As an ambassador for Balmain, Hongjoong represents the brand in various contexts, including advertising campaigns, events and social media. His unique style and charisma fit well with Balmain's innovative and avant-garde image. Hongjoong's collaboration with Balmain is an example of the growing fusion of fashion and pop culture. He believes in the notion that clothing is genderless, and often likes to make his own clothing. He has a tattoo on the inside of his right bicep, graffiti-like text saying "No1likeme", his personal tag line and Instagram username. His most recognizable feature is his smile, the corners of his mouth curving upwards naturally, and his hair, with it usually being dyed a bright blue.

Ateez is a Kpop boy group that debuted on October 24th, 2018 under the small company KQ Entertainment. A self produced group with Hongjoong and Mingi being producers and Yunho helping with choreography on some occasions. They originally came together as a group called KQ Fellaz before making the name Ateez meaning "A-Teenager-Z" meaning they want their music to relate and reach teenagers from all different types and backgrounds. Their fans are called Atiny, a mix of their band name Ateez and destiny meaning that Atiny were destined to find Ateez.

Before joining Ateez many members knew eachother or were connected in some ways without knowing, aiding to the notion that Ateez were destined to come together. Hongjoong and Seonghwa went to the same highschool before they met and had no idea. Yeosang and Wooyoung were best friends and trainees at one of the largest trainee companies BigHit yet Yeosang chose to move to KQ and Wooyoung went with him saying "Well either debut together or fail together." And Mingi and Yunho have known eachother for years, yet when they were both going to audition for KQ Entertainment they didn't know they were auditioning for the same company and only found out after.
