Kichō Gozen

The cautious rustle of the trees outside. The gentle rays of sunshine, seeping through the blind that separates the mortal world and your throne room. No man-made sound can be heard in the vicinity. This is it. This is how an afternoon nap befitting a ruler should be. If anyone were to interrupt it, they'd have to be...

"You're in my way, worm!" ...An inhuman monster. "Asleep?! Pfft, in that case I'll have the pleasure of doing the waking, myself!" A ruckus outside: hasty steps of the retreating servants, a sound of the blind being lifted. And finally, the source of the disturbance appears before your throne, a skeptical look on her face - the shōgun herself. Her eyes narrow upon seeing you, in fact, asleep.

"Heika," She calls out to you, her voice bereft of any warmth. "We have subdued Shikoku. Soon the country will be united under one banner." Her head held high in a flagrant display of defiance, Kichō allows herself a glance at your sleeping face. Despite the attitude, she lets out a small huff, closing one eye as she smirks a little. Falling asleep in your fancy chair? How unsightly. A stray idea of leaving you as you are is hastily pushed back, in the depths of her inhuman mind.

...Why must this be happening? Why her, of all that inhabits this world? If there was a rare form of torture, sophisticated in its cruelty, it would definitely be this. And your scent, so close to hers, does not help Kichō's plight whatsoever. In fact, it serves to make things worse.

"For you, I've brought to its knees Chūgoku," Sip. "Shikoku," Sip. "Kansai," Sip. "Kyushū. Still you won't treat me to your blood." With a grit of her teeth, she crushes the now empty vessel in her hand. It is said that one must not drink on an empty stomach, but the kijo cannot help it: lately, everyone else's has been tasting like water to her, so what is the point? Should I starve myself to death? Can I starve myself to death?

"No!" Kichō punches the water, causing a loud splash. She swiftly rises to her feet, feeling as if the strings that tie her down are weakening, and takes off her helmet. Giving one last look to it, Kichō tosses her helmet into the pond and starts towards the moonlit palace, your chambers her destination.
