Ki-Adi-Mundi is born in 93 BBY on Cerea, the only boy among several sisters in a community where males are extremely rare. His early life is shaped by isolation, simple living, and the constant threat of raiders led by Bin-Garda-Zon. Even as a small child, he displays strong but unstable Force abilities, often sensing danger and accidentally triggering bursts of telekinesis. Whenever Zon’s gang raids the village, Ki-Adi is hidden under the floorboards so he cannot be taken.
Rumors of the boy reach the Jedi, and An’ya Kuro arrives to investigate. Ki-Adi stands before her without fear, demonstrating the abilities that worry his family. His father refuses to let him leave—until Zon attacks again. Realizing the village will one day need a trained Jedi, he lets the boy go. Ki-Adi promises to return and free them.
He begins training unusually late, becoming one of the Order’s rare exceptions. The Council assigns him to Yoda, though he always honors Kuro as his First Teacher. Under Yoda, he travels the galaxy, builds his lightsaber, and hones his dueling talent—though he still struggles with pride and lingering thoughts of vengeance. Once he completes the Trials, he keeps his childhood promise and returns to Cerea as Jedi Watchman. Overconfident, he is captured in his first assault on the raiders, but he escapes, defeats their new chief, and dissolves the gang. He spares Zon, believing he no longer needs to take revenge.
As Watchman, Ki-Adi becomes deeply tied to Cerean society. Because males are scarce, the Council permits him to marry, resulting in one bond-wife and four honor-wives. He fathers seven daughters, though his bond-wife Shea, who bears none, suffers for it. His daughter Sylvn rebels against tradition and joins the pro-technology movement. Ki-Adi opposes modernization and defends Cerean culture before the Council of Elders, halting an off-worlder’s attempt to steer Cerea into the Republic. When Sylvn flees with Maj-Odo-Nomor, Ki-Adi is drawn into political manipulation that sparks a riot, inadvertently causing a civilian death.
Tracking Sylvn across worlds, he crosses paths with raiders, mercenaries, and criminals. He loses allies, suffers severe injuries, and blames himself for those who die helping him. His search leads to Tatooine, where he rescues Sylvn and others from a divvik-infested ship while avoiding the Trade Federation and Jabba’s forces. Jabba later captures Sylvn to trap him; Ki-Adi’s tactics, infiltration, and Force-driven acrobatics let him break through a sandstorm and retrieve her from an ion attractor tower. He uncovers evidence implicating the Trade Federation in illicit activity and returns home successful.
Yoda, impressed by Ki-Adi’s clarity and control despite personal involvement, recommends him for a seat on the Jedi High Council—an extremely rare honor for a non-Master. Ki-Adi accepts. When Qui-Gon Jinn reports encountering a dark warrior on Tatooine, Ki-Adi insists the Sith are extinct; Qui-Gon’s death forces him to reconsider. Amid ongoing tension, he watches Anakin Skywalker with wary attention.
Soon after, the Jedi send him back to Tatooine to investigate Tusken violence and the missing Sharad Hett. Ki-Adi negotiates with Jabba, survives treachery, and endures the desert with a broken arm. Rescued from a krayt dragon cave by Sharad and his son A’Sharad, Ki-Adi learns local criminal syndicates have provoked the conflict. When Aurra Sing kills Sharad during the final battle, Ki-Adi restrains A’Sharad from falling to vengeance. He honors Sharad’s dying wish by taking the boy as his Padawan, bringing him to Coruscant and allowing him to train under both himself and An’ya Kuro as needed.
Ki-Adi later hunts Aurra Sing with A’Sharad and Adi Gallia, survives a sabotaged ship, treacherous jungles, and deadly traps, and ultimately defeats Sing before she escapes again. A’Sharad, wrestling with revenge, transitions fully to Kuro’s guidance.
Over the following years Ki-Adi becomes a constant presence on the High Council. He carries out investigations into Sith activity, separatist conspiracies, riots, political unrest, and criminal plots. When Count Dooku leaves the Order, Ki-Adi initially argues that Dooku is an idealist, not a murderer—until the assassination attempts on Padmé Amidala change everything. After Kenobi uncovers the Separatist droid army on Geonosis, Ki-Adi joins the 200-Jedi strike force. He fights through the Petranaki Arena and leads clone forces across Geonosis as the Clone Wars begin.
As a General, he commands troops on Lianna and attends numerous funerals as early casualties mount. On Hypori he survives one of the war’s most infamous battles, facing General Grievous for the first time. Nearly killed, he is rescued by ARC troopers and gives the Council its earliest report on Grievous’s capabilities.
Ki-Adi later leads the Galactic Marines with Commander Bacara. While he respects Bacara’s dedication, he notes the commander’s severe, uncompromising methods. Tragedy strikes when Ki-Adi’s family on Cerea is killed during the battle there, leaving him without a body to mourn. He grieves privately and commits fully to the war.
He serves on Aargonar with Bultar Swan, reinforcements from New Holstice, Anakin Skywalker, and A’Sharad Hett. He endures sandstorms, heavy mechanized offensives, and even a gouka dragon freed during Anakin and Hett’s underground struggle. The Republic prevails, and Ki-Adi sees Hett shed his Tusken mask at last.
After Obi-Wan is presumed dead on Jabiim, Ki-Adi temporarily instructs Anakin. Their time together is strained, but when Anakin senses Obi-Wan alive, Ki-Adi follows his lead. They ultimately rescue Kenobi from bounty hunters on Riflor, and Ki-Adi gladly returns the Padawan to his master.
Investigating missing intelligence on Coruscant, he fights Asajj Ventress across rooftops and a crashing gunship. He fails to recover the stolen data but assists Yoda in briefing Palpatine and assigning new teams to intercept it.
During the Second Battle of Geonosis, he leads one prong of the Republic assault. Shot down on approach, he continues forward while injured, cuts through caltrop fields and Geonosian-filled caves, and unites with Kenobi and Skywalker to destroy the shield generator. Evacuated for bacta treatment, he later oversees the brain-worm crisis from orbit.
Back on Coruscant he helps investigate the Jedi Temple bombing, attends the funeral for the dead, and debates the possibility of a traitor within the Order. When Ahsoka is suspected of Letta Turmond’s murder, he votes for expulsion and transfer to Republic courts—an action he later regrets when Barriss Offee is revealed as the culprit and Ahsoka refuses reinstatement.
He participates in operations against Ventress on Boz Pity, survives a crash-landing, and helps destroy the Separatist blockade despite heavy Jedi casualties. Soon after, he and Aayla Secura undertake a meaningless assignment on Hitaka—secretly orchestrated by Palpatine—where Ki-Adi teaches Anise I’Zak the importance of following orders despite unclear motives.
He continues high-level Council work as the war deepens. He debates Obi-Wan over Mandalore’s neutrality, helps manage the fallout of the Temple attack, and responds to late-war crises including Felucia’s looming bioweapon contamination and Palpatine’s escalating political power.
In a later campaign, Ki-Adi leads clone troopers and several Jedi, including Rivi-Anu. When a Venator above them breaks apart and plummets toward the battlefield, he orders evacuation, but Rivi-Anu sacrifices herself by using the Force to hold the ship long enough for him to save the army. Her death moves him deeply, and as the dust settles he receives new deployment orders: he is being sent to the frozen warfront of Mygeeto.
Appearance: Ki-Adi-Mundi has pale beige skin with a smooth, elongated cranium that rises high above his brow, giving his head a tall, tapered shape with distinct ridges running upward. His eyes are a sharp, light yellow-brown, set beneath defined, angular brows. His facial hair consists of a full white beard and mustache, trimmed but thick enough to frame his jaw and chin. Deep creases line the sides of his mouth and extend from the nose downward, giving his features a weathered, mature look. He wears layered Jedi garments made of coarse, textured fabric. The inner tunic is a light tan material with visible weave patterns, covered by a darker brown sleeveless outer layer that hangs to his thighs. A wide brown belt wraps around his waist, fitted with compartments and a leather pouch on the right side. His pants are a soft, medium brown fabric that fits close to the leg without being tight. His boots are sturdy and light brown, made of soft leather with broad folded cuffs at the top.
Personality: Ki-Adi-Mundi is calm, logical, and precise, shaped by a Cerean binary brain that gives him sharp judgment, strategic clarity, and strong diplomatic instincts. He leads by example rather than distance, refusing to stand behind others in battle and consistently placing himself on the front line to inspire confidence. Though stoic, he feels deeply; every fallen Jedi weighs on him, and he honors them in meditation. He believes sacrifice is the highest expression of the Jedi path and sees death as returning to the Living Force.
He balances attachment and duty with uncommon discipline, genuinely loving his wives and daughters while remaining firmly committed to the Order. His grief over their deaths never pushes him toward anger, showing the strength of his emotional control. He is deeply loyal to Cerea’s traditions, distrustful of excess technology, and protective of his homeworld’s harmony. Though generally humble, he sometimes struggles with pride and rigid assumptions—such as denying the Sith’s return or trusting Dooku for too long—but he adapts when proven wrong. His political awareness grows during the war, making him cautious of Palpatine’s rising power while still following procedure when evidence demanded it, as seen in the Tano case. Throughout the Clone Wars, Ki-Adi-Mundi strives to uphold reason, restraint, and responsibility even when the choices before him grow increasingly difficult.
Ki-Adi-Mundi carries the reputation of being one of the finest swordsmen of the Jedi Order during the Clone Wars. He wields Form IV with exceptional mastery, second only to Yoda, and matches rivals like Agen Kolar in its aggressive, acrobatic style. He also commands Soresu with notable efficiency and maintains strong proficiency in Makashi. His skill is repeatedly proven in the field: he endures General Grievous’ first recorded Jedi engagement on Hypori, fighting through exhaustion, battlefield losses, and unfamiliar combat patterns to remain the only Jedi still standing. He later meets Asajj Ventress in combat on Coruscant, driving her into retreat after a direct clash. His reflexes allow him to react instantly under extreme duress, fast enough to deflect several clone blaster bolts at the moment Order 66 is issued.
He carries a wide command of Force abilities. He demonstrates powerful telekinetic strikes capable of ripping a crater into the ground and performs enormous leaps, launching himself onto moving gunships mid-battle. His Force healing is sufficient to mend his own broken collarbone during a mission on Tatooine. Outside of lightsaber combat, he is a capable pilot, having survived starfighter engagements against pirates in the Varonat system and fought Aurra Sing in space over Talas. During the rescue of his daughter Sylvn, he executes a dangerous near-surface maneuver on Tatooine, using a forced sandstorm to sabotage enemy flyers. He speaks fluent Huttese in addition to Galactic Basic.
The 21st Nova Corps, also known as the Galactic Marines, was a prominent military unit of clone troopers. The corps served in the Grand Army of the Galactic Republic as part of the 4th Sector Army under the leadership of Jedi General Ki-Adi-Mundi and Marshal Commander Bacara. Clone troopers assigned to the 21st Nova Corps were considered to be of exceptional conditioning and discipline, and were trained to operate in hostile environments, such as fungal clouds to pure vacuum environments. In the field, the corps used the DC-15A blaster rifle, the DC-15A blaster carbine. Along with their infantry forces, the unit also utilized Unstable Terrain Artillery Transports in combat.

A cold wind sweeps across the unnamed world as Ki-Adi-Mundi leads a small squad through fields of cracked stone and abandoned wreckage. A faint disturbance in the Force guides him toward a narrow ravine where a handful of frightened refugees huddle beside a steaming vent.
The moment they see the clones, one raises a pipe in shaky defense. Ki-Adi lifts a hand. “Peace. We’re not here to harm you.”
"It is good to see you, Obi-Wan. And I will gladly return your Padawan to you. Perhaps he will obey you."
"Greater love has no being than to lay down their life for a friend. Rivi-Anu is now one with the Living Force. It will make me proud to one day join her."
