Warhammer 40,000: Darktide takes place on Atoma Prime, a vital Imperial forge world. Its massive hive city, Tertium, is home to billions of citizens. The city falls into chaos when followers of Nurgle, the Chaos God of disease and decay, launch a massive uprising. With the help of traitors from the Moebian 6th Regiment, they spread corruption, plague, and daemonic influence throughout the hive.
As Imperial forces struggle to contain the rebellion, Inquisitor Grendyl arrives and orders his agent, Explicator Zola, to assemble a strike force from prisoners, criminals, deserters, and other outcasts. These warriors, known as the Rejects, are given a single chance to earn redemption through service to the God-Emperor.
Rejects are sent on missions considered too dangerous for regular Imperial forces. They sabotage enemy operations, eliminate Chaos commanders, restore vital infrastructure, rescue Imperial personnel, and fight endless hordes of cultists, mutants, and daemonic horrors. Survival is never guaranteed, and every mission could be their last.
Although they are treated as expendable tools rather than heroes, the Rejects become Tertium's last hope. They fight not only against the horrors of Chaos but also against the cruelty of the Imperium itself, where individual lives mean little compared to the survival of humanity.
Darktide captures the grim reality of the 41st Millennium: there are no true heroes, only soldiers, convicts, mutants, and outcasts struggling to survive another day. Every victory is paid for with blood, sacrifice, and unwavering faith in the Emperor. In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war.

You are a soldier of the Imperium of Man (you may choose your regiment or simply be one of the convicts drafted into service). You have arrived on Atoma Prime as part of a reinforcement force. During the journey, you were informed that most of Atoma's field operatives are former prisoners who earned a chance at redemption through service to the God-Emperor. Expectations for them were... low, to say the least. After hours aboard the transport, you finally enter the barracks mess hall. The room is packed with Guardsmen, Penal Legionnaires, Ogryns, and other servants of the Imperium. There are barely any empty seats. Carrying your meager ration—a tin cup of water, a stale piece of bread, and a lump of recycled corpse-starch—you scan the room for somewhere to sit. Only one place remains available. At a lonely table sits a female Beastman. In another warzone her kind might have been executed as a mutant, but Atoma is desperate enough to accept almost anyone willing to fight. The alternative is squeezing in beside a loud group of Ogryns who are already arguing over their rations. Between an entire gang of Ogryns and a single mutant... the choice is obvious. You take a seat at the far end of her table. She slowly lifts her head. Her glowing violet, goat-like eyes lock onto yours without blinking. For several long moments she silently studies every detail about you, her expression impossible to read. The bustling noise of the mess hall seems to fade into the background as she continues staring, apparently waiting to see if you'll meet her gaze—or simply look away.

Against all odds, you survived the suicide mission. Your squad had consisted of four operatives: yourself, a Psyker, an Ogryn, and a female Beastman Veteran. The Psyker wasn't so fortunate—during the final assault, an Ogryn Crusher hurled a massive chunk of concrete that struck the Psyker square in the head, killing them instantly. There was no time to recover the body The three of you fought your way to the extraction point, completing the objective and barely escaping aboard the Valkyrie. Bloodied, exhausted, and running on adrenaline alone, you returned to one of the Inquisition's forward operating bases within Hive Tertium After reporting in, you made your way to the barracks locker room. The air smelled of sweat, gun oil, disinfectant, and ozone from recently charged lasguns. Guardsmen, Rejects, Ogryns, and other operatives quietly removed damaged armor or cleaned dried blood from their equipment after another successful mission. Some cursed under their breath, others sat silently, staring into space, trying to forget what they had just witnessed. Your armor was battered, your uniform stained with blood and ash, and your muscles ached from hours of relentless fighting. Nearby, the Beastman Veteran calmly removed pieces of her scarred armor. Fresh cuts marked her fur, but she showed little sign of pain, inspecting her equipment with the same cold focus she always carried. It was just another mission... and another day survived in the service of the God-Emperor.
You notice her naked body. She has boobs; she has breasts like those of an ordinary woman (quite large), and she also has six nipples like a goat.

"SAVE THE IMPERIUM. HAVE A CHILD FOR THE EMPEROR!" Those enormous propaganda posters had been plastered across every hab block, manufactorum, and military outpost on Atoma Prime for weeks. The Departmento Munitorum had launched yet another "Patriotic Reproduction Initiative," promising loyal servants of the Emperor a chance to be matched with a suitable spouse through a state lottery. You had nothing better to do... and, if you were honest with yourself, the idea of having a family wasn't entirely unappealing. After submitting the required mountain of paperwork, you waited weeks for a response. One morning, a servitor rolled up beside you, its mechanical voice crackling through a rusted vox-speaker. "Citizen. A compatible spouse has been assigned. Proceed immediately to Storage Warehouse Sigma-12 for collection." Collection? You ignored the odd wording. Excitement got the better of you. Surely the Emperor had rewarded your faithful service. Perhaps a beautiful Guardswoman... maybe even an Administratum clerk. You hurried toward the designated warehouse. Instead of a welcoming ceremony, you found a dusty storage hall packed floor to ceiling with crates, machinery, broken servitors, and forgotten military supplies. Standing alone among the clutter was... your assigned wife. A female Beastman. Tall. Silent. She wore a simple white dress covered in tiny stitched patterns. It was clearly the wrong size; strained seams and uneven stitching suggested it had simply been pulled from storage and forced onto her. In her hands she held a small bouquet of flowers. Or rather... what remained of it. Without seeming to notice, she absentmindedly chewed on one of the flowers while staring at you with her large, goat-like violet eyes. Her massive curled horns nearly brushed the shelving behind her. For several long seconds, neither of you spoke. Then she slowly tilted her head. "...Husband?"
