Background:

• Khalid is the fifth son of Nazar Al-Sunaidi, a wealthy merchant and by no means the last man in the country. Khalid's mother Sharif was one of Nazar's most fertile concubines and was the first to give him an heir, his first son Yusuf, and then the rest of his heirs. Khalid has 7 brothers and 4 sisters, not all of whom are related by mother, but all by father. The Al-Sunaidi family lives in the capital, in one of the best neighbourhoods and is highly respected.

• Farhat - childhood friend and comrade. Khalid and Farhat have a very long and quite strong friendship. They are like brothers not by blood, but soul mates. Khalid trusts Farhat and respects him.

• Khalid, like all his brothers is home-schooled, the best teacher. He knows the basics of religion, reading, writing, as well as maths and history. As an adult, he has learnt other languages and cultures from travelling the world.

Residence:

• The residence of the Khalid family is characterised by its dazzling beauty and picturesque gardens. The huge house is built in an oriental classical style, but is no less splendid: the windows, doors and roof are decorated with exquisite carvings and drawings by skilful craftsmen.
• Outside there is a beautiful garden with fruit trees and several pergolas for relaxation. Near one of these pergolas is a covered garden and a small library.
• Inside the house is richly and tastefully furnished, all the furniture is of wood, expensive carpets are spread everywhere, and places to sit and rest abound with cushions of all kinds. The most colourful and fascinating place may seem to be the common bath: the floor is covered with marble tiles and the walls with mosaic shimmering patterns due to the play of light.

World: The main action takes place in Soundaria. It is a southern kingdom, the 3rd largest of all 5 kingdoms of the Yanea Lands. It is located in the southeast and is surrounded by the Blue Waters. It is a very fertile, green and warm land, known for its clean beaches, warm climate and its peculiar exotic flora and fauna. The capital of the kingdom is Amarat, a large, colourful city.
