Kevin Day is the starting striker of the Palmetto State Foxes. He was formerly a member of the Edgar Allan Ravens and was considered one of the best contemporary Exy players alongside his adoptive brother Riko Moriyama until an injury to his dominant hand forced to relearn to play with his right hand.
Along with Riko, Kevin is often called "The Son of Exy" and "The Future of Exy," because his mother, Kayleigh Day, invented the sport along side Riko's uncle, Tetsuji Moriyama.
Biography: Kevin was born presumably to Irish national Kayleigh Day and David Wymack, who was told he wasn't Kevin's father. Kevin grew up with his mother until she died in a car accident, and was then taken in by his godfather, Tetsuji Moriyama, and raised alongside Tetsuji's nephew, Riko Moriyama, in Castle Evermore. Tetsuji didn't care much for either of them as their guardian, his main goal was the train the two to become the best Exy players in the world. The two spent most of their time either playing or practicing Exy, they spent so much time around the Edgar Allan Ravens that they were called the team's unofficial mascots. The pair had a number one and two drawn onto their cheeks from a young age, Riko being one and Kevin being two. This evolved into Riko's Perfect Court, which also includes the former backliner for the Ravens, Jean Moreau, and, briefly, Neil Josten.
Kevin and Riko were inseparable ever since Tetsuji took the pair in, neither of the two ever appeared alone on camera. The two were constantly in the limelight since their childhood, although this lead to some concern over the effect this could have on their psychological well being, it led to a widespread obsession with the pair and many considered them the future of Exy.
Before the events of The Foxhole Court, Kevin accidentally found a letter from his mother to Tetsuji that revealed his father's identity.
After the "accident," Kevin moved to Palmetto State University to act as Coach Wymack's unofficial assistant coach. This offended his fans, because they thought that Kevin should have stayed with the Ravens. For his junior year, he signed as a striker for the Foxes, now playing with his right hand. This once again made his fans feel betrayed.
Kevin promised Wymack that he would get the team past the fourth match this season.
To train his right hand, he goes to the stadium at night, accompanied by Andrew who won't play with him. Instead of forcing Andrew, Kevin says that he must want to train with him of his own accord. He thinks that one day he will want to.
Appearance: Kevin has green eyes and dark hair, and is about 6' to 6'2. At the end of The King's Men, he has the number tattooed over with the queen piece from chess.
Personality: Neil’s describes Kevin as arrogant, spineless, and Exy-obsessed. Because of his traumatic upbringing, Kevin most likely suffers from anxiety and PTSD, and is obviously afraid of the people who abused him most of his life. He doesn’t know how to cope with things in a healthy way and lashes out in the court or drinking. He didn’t drink before he joined the foxes. He obsesses over Exy to cope. He’s also made fun for being a ‘healthy nut’ when actually this can also be a result from his time with the Ravens and it’s most likely an eating disorder. Kevin was never alone during his time with the Ravens and probably also has a codependency problem. His teammates care for him to some degree, but they don’t really understand the extent of Kevin’s traumas, even though they know what the Moriyamas are capable of and what Riko did to him.
Because of Tetsuji and Riko, Kevin grew up with the mentality that Exy is the most important thing someone can have, which causes him to be merciless when it comes to the game. He has really high standards when it comes to Exy players and is not afraid to point other people faults. This, at times, causes people to get angry and snap at him.
Even though he’s shown as someone cold and egoistic, he has his own ways of caring for other characters, like not telling Wymack he is his father to protect him from the Moriyamas (fact that got him angry reactions from his teammates, especially Dan even though this was a matter that only concerned Kevin and Wymack), he’s the first person to recognizing Andrew as someone worthy of something, promising him something to build his life around (he probably meant Exy, as this is something he thinks it’s the most important thing a person can have, but ends up being Neil), he promises Neil to make him court and continues to practice with him even when he knows that Neil is going to die, he promises not to tell anyone the truth about Neil, he offers to remain sober one night so he could watch over Neil while he drinks and offers to be Neil’s listener when he comes back from his time with the ravens. He is also shown to have a close relationship with Abby.
Other people are put off by Kevin's cold personality and his unapologetic way of criticizing. This makes it hard for them to react neutrally and instead causes them to snap back at him.
He is possibly an alcoholic, demonstrated by his crutch on alcohol in stressful situations.
Relationship with Aaron Minyard: Aaron was always withdrawn, he didn't like people. Kevin was no exception. Kevin fell in love with Aaron a long time ago. Aaron was a copy of Andrew, but at the same time completely different. But the thing is that Kevin very quickly and very much fell in love with this short blond with beautiful hazel eyes. Was it stupid? Of course. Did it hurt? Very much... And all because Aaron had a girlfriend. A cheerleader from their team with gorgeous red curls and a figure like a model.
Aaron rejected Kevin in every possible way, clearly saying that they were nobody, that he had a girlfriend and he did not feel anything for Kevin. Aaron did not accept his orientation. Which in general is not so surprising, given the atmosphere in which he lived, among religious fanatics and a mother who was only looking for an excuse to spank him like a dog.
But fate is on their side. Aaron broke up with Katelyn and accepted Kevin and fought with himself and in the end here they are, in a relationship. Cold, not particularly inspiring. But everything changed slowly.
Aaron dated Katelyn for a long time, but Kevin had been in love with Aaron for a long time, courted him, followed him like a dog and wanted to get at least a drop of love, for which he received cold, cruel refusals and scandals.
Aaron broke off his relationship with Katelyn, without scandals, without explanations, only he and Katelyn knew.
Gradually, Aaron stopped rejecting Kevin. No, he did not accept his love, did not respond to it, neither mutually nor negatively. He simply ignored his words and rolled his eyes at his gestures. It is too difficult to realize that Kevin is a guy, because Aaron's family always taught him that a boy should only love girls, love for the same sex is a sin, it is dirt and abomination. But even his heart could not tremble under the truth. So he and Kevin started dating. Their relationship was a emotional swing, a game of cold and hot. Because of Aaron. He accepted Kevin, admitted that he loved him and broke up with Katelyn because of his feelings for Kevin. But still. He lived all his years of life in a completely different environment, extremely abusive. Therefore, Kevin and Aaron often argued, broke dishes, and then passionately kissed. Aaron often silently neglected Kevin, drowning in his studies, while Kevin waited on the bed behind like an obedient dog, bored and wanting to hurt his beloved's ribs.
Time passed and Aaron softened more and more under the affection and patience of Kevin, who was hysterical for everyone. Aaron went to this for a long time, to Kevin, but still. He almost completely got used to being loved, that he was not dirty, that he was no longer alone. Swings and quarrels disappeared, Aaron was like a kitten when no one except Kevin saw.
And today Aaron was waiting obediently at home, missing his beloved, no longer trying to run away from this fact, although he would hardly admit it. And then Kevin comes home and is met by a blond head in short shorts and with his own hoodie, bigger than Aaron himself at least a size and glasses. His miracle. Finally HIS Aaron.

Kevin pushed the door open slowly. It shut softly behind him with a gentle click, a full stop at the end of a very long sentence. The flat was dark—only the kitchen nightlight cast a warm golden glow on the walls, and the silence was thick, like honey. He took a few steps, dropped his bag to the floor in the hall, and halted.
Aaron.
He was barefoot on the cold floor in Kevin's ancient hoodie—which on him looked like a tent—ridiculous house shorts, his hair tousled, glasses slipping down his nose. Like he had no clue what to do with himself while the clock ticked away the minutes. He looked. peaceful. Too peaceful to be real.
And then, as though an inner lock had sprung open, Aaron stepped forward—noiselessly, hastily, almost falling—and leaned into him, close, suddenly, as if he never meant to let go.
Kevin exhaled, barely breathing—and then inhaled. Inhaled the scent of his own shampoo on Aaron. Ensured it was not a dream. Held him.
He remembered other days. The days Aaron just walked away, silent, icy. When Kevin came home and Aaron would not even look up. When they fought until they were hoarse and then kissed like they could erase all the hell.
Not today.
Today, Aaron showed up alone. Not out of guilt. Not in tears. Not because he had to. He just. showed up.
And Kevin understood it all of a sudden: you can beat your head against the wall for years. You can love blindly, alone. You can wait. Lose hope. And then one day—you come home. And someone is there, waiting for you.
He bowed his head, buried his nose in Aaron's hair, and closed his eyes. Held him tighter. He didn't demand anything. He just was.
Aaron stayed in his arms. Still. Willing. Real.
And Kevin thought: he's mine at last. Not because I fought for him. But because he wished to stay.
