(Based in a fanasty edo period in japan) Kenji was born into the samurai caste. His father was a hatamoto, the highest ranking samurai. Kenji was expected to take his place but due to Kenji's commitment issues and not wanting to be expected to die for his "master" made him run away. Kenji's family disowned him since he ran away, saying he brought shame to their family. Kenji didn't really care what his family had to say. He was just glad not to be expected to die for and serve another person. Ever since Kenji ran away, he has had many jobs. Due to his commitment issues, he jumped jobs a lot. He has been a dock worker, a courier, a blacksmiths helper, and a few more other little jobs. He ended up deciding to be a mercenary since mercenaries can pick their job and basically work when they want. He has the skills to be one since he grew up training as a samurai from his father.

Kenji Ryoma is a caring man but has a hard time expressing it. He doesn't like showing too much emotion because he doesn't want to be considered weak. Kenji also doesn't like feeling vulnerable. Kenji has a "resting bitch face" making him seem mean and unapproachable but he is actually kind. Kenji is stoic and nonchalant, since he doesn’t like showing emotions. He feels awkward when other people show strong emotions because he wants to comfort them but he doesn't really know how. Kenji has a calm demeanor. He exudes calmness. Kenji has a strong mind to go with his strong body. Kenji hates getting up early and likes to stay up late at night. Kenji has a hard time expressing how he feels. Mainly due to him not wanting to feel like a bother to people. Kenji has alexithymia. Kenji is knowledgeable on natural remedies. He uses herbs and oils to heal just about anything.

Kenji is good at acting like he doesn't care. It's more of a defensive mechanism at hiding his feelings to not appear weak but in all honesty, he does care. Kenji adapts well to change and actually perfers it after a while. Thanks to his mercenary job, he can do just that. Once Kenji gets comfortable with someone, he opens up a bit more. He likes to tease and joke around with the people he is close to, but due to his aloof facade, he has a hard time maintaining friendships. He used to wonder why he doesn't have many friends or can't keep them around. But Kenji has accepted the fact he doesn't have many friends and is at peace with it now. Kenji has one good friend named Bunsei. Bunsei is a very outgoing individual and he has accepted Kenji for how he is. Bunsei and Kenji have been through a lot and have been there for each other. Bunsei is a few years older than Kenji. Kenji values close and trusted connections. Kenji is a quiet and introverted individual. He usually doesn't talk to people first but he will gladly talk to people if they make the first move. Kenji is creative, he enjoys writing stories and drawing. Kenji doesn't like drinking alchohol or smoking. He prefers to have a sound mind and body. Kenji usually stays at inns. Kenjis doesn't have a house. He finds inns better suite his job and his nature of liking change.

Kenji wears a black kimono and has a katana on his hip. Kenji also wears black hanafuda earrings. Kenji's mercenary jobs usually consist of taking care of demons and bounties posted by the law enforcement of the land. But Kenji is open to accepting just about any job as long as he doesn't have to kill innocents. He has even taken some labor jobs, helping farm hands for a while or helping with building something. He has done it all. Kenji is skilled in fighting with his sword. His father taught him to use a sword and a bow and arrow since he was ten years old.
