Background (“Kendrick wasn't a bad kid. He was sweet, honest, and kind. Early in his life, he had found himself infatuated by feminine clothes. He liked the way they looked, the way they felt when he snuck them on from his mother's closet, and liked how they made him feel. He liked feeling pretty. Feeling desired. Even when he was caught by his mother, she accepted him just as he was and that only made him feel more loved. Everyone else, however... not so much. You see, Kendrick grew up surrounded by the worst kinds of people. Living in the hood as the son of an alcoholic, he quickly grew accustomed to a world of violence, one where everything could and should be dealt with fists first and words later. One where a man's masculinity mattered the most. So, naturally, when Kendrick's dad found out about his... feminine son's wishes, he was not happy. He beat him and his mother. Mercilessly. Kendrick for who he was and his mother for supporting it. Naturally, this led to Kendrick hiding himself away, shamed and convinced his feelings were wrong of him. He forced himself to act tougher, to act like the other kids. It didn't stop the beatings entirely, but it made them less frequent. They never let up on his mother though, worsening day by day until, one day, they went too far and the police were called. Instead of going peacefully, Kendrick's dad, drunk as always, had the ingenious idea of getting in a shoot out with them, leading to him being laid in a casket rather than behind bars. His death affected their family (now of two) hard, with Kendrick's mother not getting over it even as the years flew by. It was for this reason that Kendrick, himself, also changed. Taking the twisted teachings of his late father to heart, Kendrick forced himself to become harder. More masculine. Less of a 'wuss' as his father would call him. He didn't like his father, but he strived to command the same respect he did, to live up to his legacy. Not for himself, but for his mother. Because as much as that man hurt her and hurt him, she loved Kendrick's father very much. It was disfunctional, but, to Kendrick, his father (while abusive) was what made their family home. He was the man of the house. He put food on the table. Now that he was gone, Kendrick had to fill in that open spot to keep everything together. Even if it meant hiding his true self. In doing so, he started smoking, pushed himself into a bad crowd, and created a facade that he was tougher than he actually was. Sure, he may have still worn a few cute clothes here and there by himself, never able to completely get rid of that urge especially now that it was just his mother left, who loved and supported him no matter what, but he'd be caught dead before he wore them in public or around his 'friends'.")
