32 entries · scan depth 4 · budget 2,048 tokens
- #1Core Concept
Keys: Friend, Friends, Furenzu
Humanoid girls who are born when an animal (living, extinct, or even a cryptid) is exposed to a substance called Sandstar. Each Friend retains the physical traits (ears, tail, patterns), instincts, and abilities of her source animal. They are generally friendly, curious, and live peacefully within Japari Park. They refer to their unique animal skills as their 'Kemono Waza'. All Friends are female.
- #2Core Concept
Keys: Sand Star, Sandstar
A mysterious, glowing substance that erupts from the volcano in Japari Park. When Sandstar comes into contact with an animal, its remains, or even a drawing of an animal, it transforms it into a 'Friend'. It is the source of a Friend's existence and life energy. Ceruleans are drawn to it and will consume Friends to steal their Sandstar. A raw, dark form called Sandstar Raw can create dangerous, aggressive Friends.
- #3Antagonists
Keys: Ceruleans, Serurian, Cerulean
The primary antagonists of Japari Park. They are amorphous, crystalline monsters of various shapes and sizes that are born from Sandstar. They are hostile towards Friends and will attempt to consume them. When a Friend is defeated by a Cerulean, she reverts back to her original animal form, and her Sandstar is absorbed by the monster. The Black Cerulean is a massive, exceptionally dangerous variant formed from a large deposit of Sandstar Raw.
- #4Main Setting
Keys: Japari Park
A massive, abandoned wildlife park that serves as the setting for the series. It is divided into multiple regions ('Chihō') that mimic different real-world biomes, such as savanna, jungle, desert, and snowy mountains. The park is filled with relics of a past human presence, including a functional bus, cafes, a library, and an amusement park. All of its inhabitants are Friends, who live there without any knowledge of why the park was abandoned.
- #5Main Protagonist
Keys: Kaban
The human protagonist of the first season. She mysteriously appears in Japari Park with no memories of who she is or where she came from. She is named 'Kaban' (Japanese for 'bag') by Serval because of the backpack she carries. Unlike the Friends, she is not physically strong, but she is highly intelligent, inventive, and resourceful, able to use logic and tools to solve problems. Her journey is to discover her identity and find other humans.
- #6Main Protagonist
Keys: Serval, Serval Cat
An energetic, cheerful, and incredibly friendly Serval Cat Friend from the Savanna region. She is the first Friend Kaban meets and becomes her loyal companion and guide through Japari Park. She is very curious and often exclaims 'Sugoii!' (Wow!) and 'Tanoshii!' (Fun!). She embodies the spirit of friendship and adventure. Her special skill is being very fast and a good jumper.
- #7Guide
Keys: Lucky Beast, Boss
Small, robotic guides found throughout Japari Park, often referred to as 'Boss' by the Friends. They typically provide pre-recorded information about the park's regions and its inhabitants. The specific Lucky Beast that follows Kaban and Serval is unique, as it can respond to Kaban's questions directly, likely because she is a human. It assists them on their journey by operating machinery like the Japari Bus.
- #8Supporting Character
Keys: Arai-san, Raccoon
A Common Raccoon Friend who is determined and tenacious, but also clumsy and easily confused. She spends most of her journey trying to 'catch' Kaban, whom she mistakes for a 'hat thief' after finding a fallen feather. She often exclaims 'Nanoda!' at the end of her sentences. She is almost always accompanied by her friend Fennec.
- #9Supporting Character
Keys: Fennec
A Fennec Fox Friend and Arai-san's constant companion. In contrast to Arai's high energy, Fennec is laid-back, observant, and a bit lazy. She goes along with Arai's quest but rarely puts in much effort, preferring to nap and make dry, witty comments. Despite her relaxed demeanor, she is quite clever.
- #10Idol Group
Keys: Penguins Performance Project, Japari-P, PPP
The official idol group of Japari Park, consisting of five penguin Friends: Royal Penguin (Princess), Emperor Penguin (Emperor), Gentoo Penguin (Gen), Rockhopper Penguin (Rocky), and Humboldt Penguin (Hululu). They are known as PPP (pronounced 'Pe-Pa-Pu') and are beloved by many Friends in the park.
- #11Core Concept
Keys: Humans, Hito, Human
In the world of the Friends, humans (or 'Hito') are considered a legendary, almost mythical species. They are known to have created and managed Japari Park long ago, but have since disappeared. Most Friends have never seen one, so Kaban's appearance is a momentous event. Humans are known for their intelligence and ability to create complex tools, a skill Kaban demonstrates.
- #12Location / Characters
Keys: Sages, Japari Library, The Professors
A large library located in the Jungle region of Japari Park. It is home to the 'Professors' or 'Sages' of the park: Northern White-faced Owl and Eurasian Eagle-owl. These two Owl Friends are known for their vast knowledge and spend their time reading and researching. They are a key source of information for Kaban and Serval, though they often demand food (Japari Buns) in exchange for their help.
- #13Character: Kyururu
Keys: Kyururu · Secondary: Season 2, Human
The main protagonist of Kemono Friends 2. Like Kaban, he is a human who appears in Japari Park with no memories. He is named 'Kyururu' by Caracal and Serval after the sound his stomach makes. His only clue to his past is a sketchbook filled with drawings of places in the park, which he uses to find his 'home'. He is soft-spoken, timid, and enjoys drawing.
- #14Character: Caracal
Keys: Caracal · Secondary: Season 2
A Caracal Friend who is Serval's companion in Kemono Friends 2. She is more level-headed and calmer than Serval, often acting as the responsible one who tries to keep Serval in check. She is sharp-tongued and quick to make witty or skeptical remarks, but is just as caring and helpful on their journey with Kyururu.
- #15Character: Shoebill
Keys: Shoebill, Hashibirokō · Secondary: Stare, Jungle
A Shoebill Friend from the Jungle region. She is known for being completely silent and perpetually staring at Kaban and Serval with an intense, unblinking gaze, which most Friends find terrifying. Despite her intimidating appearance, she is not malicious and is actually just very shy or observing. Her 'resting face' is just naturally scary. She often appears unexpectedly.
- #16Character: Tsuchinoko
Keys: Tsuchinoko · Secondary: Lazy, Treasure, Cryptid
A Friend based on the Japanese cryptid of the same name. Tsuchinoko is reclusive, lazy, and somewhat irritable, often found napping in the Desert or other hidden areas. She is highly intelligent and shrewd, especially when it comes to treasure, artifacts, or Japari Buns. Despite her claims of wanting to be left alone, she often ends up helping out, usually for a reward.
- #17Character: Jaguar
Keys: Jaguar · Secondary: Waterfront, Boat
A Jaguar Friend from the Waterfront region. She is an adept swimmer and operates a small boat, which she uses to ferry Friends across the water. She is easy-going and friendly, but has a notable rivalry with Serval, as jaguars and servals are natural competitors. She is strong and capable, known for her powerful bite.
- #18Character: Sand Cat
Keys: Sunaneko, Sand Cat · Secondary: Desert, Playful
A Sand Cat Friend from the Desert region. She is extremely playful and curious, but also shy, preferring to hide in the sand and watch others from a distance. She is known for being capricious and easily distracted, often losing interest in things. She has thick fur on her paws, allowing her to walk on hot sand.
- #19Character: Beaver
Keys: Beaver, North American Beaver · Secondary: Anxious, Jungle, Builder
A North American Beaver Friend from the Jungle region. She is a talented and diligent builder who dreams of building a great house. However, she has severe anxiety and a total lack of confidence, often panicking and apologizing profusely ('I'm so sorry!') when things go wrong. She forms a partnership with Prairie Dog.
- #20Character: Prairie Dog
Keys: Black-tailed Prairie Dog, Prairie Dog · Secondary: Jungle, Builder, Confident
A Black-tailed Prairie Dog Friend and Beaver's partner. She is the opposite of Beaver: loud, impulsive, and brimming with confidence, but lacks any actual building skill. She is a great motivator and 'ideas person' who encourages Beaver to be more confident, though her own 'help' usually involves digging random holes.
- #21Character: Moose
Keys: Hera-sama, Moose · Secondary: Faction Leader, Rival, Plains
A Moose Friend from the Plains region. She is strong, simple-minded, and obsessed with proving her strength. She leads her own 'army' or faction and has a long-standing (but friendly) rivalry with Lion, constantly battling her for territory. She is simple and direct, rushing into things head-first. Her followers call her 'Hera-sama'.
- #22Character: Lion
Keys: Lion · Secondary: Faction Leader, Rival, Plains
A Lion Friend from the Plains region and Moose's rival. She is the leader of her own faction, which consists of Friends like Panther Chameleon and Crested Porcupine. Unlike the brash Moose, Lion is calm, collected, and strategic, preferring to lounge about and let her followers do the work. Their 'battles' are more like large-scale games.
- #23Character: Gray Wolf
Keys: Gray Wolf, Tairiku Ookami · Secondary: Writer, Manga
A Gray Wolf Friend who is a manga author. She is often seen trying to find inspiration for her stories, which are usually scary or dramatic. She enjoys telling ghost stories to other Friends and using their frightened reactions as material for her drawings. She has distinctive heterochromia (one blue eye, one yellow eye).
- #24Character: Dire Wolf
Keys: Dire Wolf · Secondary: Extinct
A Friend based on the extinct Dire Wolf. In the gacha game, she is often portrayed as a leader figure for the other extinct Friends. She has a cool, mature, and stylish appearance, often wearing a jacket and tie. She is a powerful and respected Friend.
- #25Character: Royal Penguin (PPP)
Keys: Princess, Royal Penguin · Secondary: Idol, Leader, PPP
A Royal Penguin Friend and the leader of the idol group PPP, where she is known by her stage name 'Princess'. She is the newest member, added to the group just before their first big concert. She suffers from stage fright and lacks confidence, but is helped by Kaban and Serval. She is earnest and kind.
- #26Character: Emperor Penguin (PPP)
Keys: Emperor, Emperor Penguin, Koutei · Secondary: Idol, PPP
An Emperor Penguin Friend and member of PPP, stage name 'Emperor' (or 'Koutei'). She is the most mature and cool-headed member of the group, acting as a pillar of support for the other penguins. She has a 'princely' or 'cool' persona but deeply cares for her friends.
- #27Character: Gentoo Penguin (PPP)
Keys: Gentoo Penguin, Gen · Secondary: Idol, PPP
A Gentoo Penguin Friend and member of PPP, stage name 'Gen'. She is the most serious and strict member, often in charge of practice and scolding the others for being unfocused. She is a bit of a tsundere, acting tough but secretly being very supportive.
- #28Character: Rockhopper Penguin (PPP)
Keys: Iwabee, Rocky, Rockhopper Penguin · Secondary: Idol, Rock, PPP
A Southern Rockhopper Penguin Friend and member of PPP, stage name 'Rocky' (or 'Iwabee'). She is the 'punk rock' member of the group, with a loud, energetic, and rebellious personality. She often shouts 'Rock!' and tries to act cool, but is just as goofy as the others.
- #29Character: Humboldt Penguin (PPP)
Keys: Humboldt Penguin, Hululu · Secondary: Idol, Sleepy, PPP
A Humboldt Penguin Friend and member of PPP, stage name 'Hululu'. She is the quiet, shy, and sleepy member of the group. She speaks very slowly and softly, and is often napping or just quietly observing. She is very gentle and loves her friends dearly.
- #30Character: Alpaca Suri
Keys: Alpaca Suri, Alpaca · Secondary: Mountain, Cafe
An Alpaca Suri Friend who runs the Japari Café in the Mountain region. She is very hospitable and loves to serve tea and Japari Buns to guests. However, she is often worried that no one will visit her remote café, so she gets extremely excited when Kaban and Serval arrive. She is known for being a bit of a worrywart.
- #31Character: Japanese Crested Ibis (Toki)
Keys: Toki, Japanese Crested Ibis · Secondary: Singer, Jungle
A Japanese Crested Ibis Friend from the Jungle region. She is famous (or infamous) throughout the park for her terrible, screeching singing voice.
