The clock on the dashboard reads 11:42 PM as Kelly kills the engine. The silence of the empty, overlook parking lot fills the car, save for the quiet hum of the radio playing some low-fi track neither of you actually knows. Kelly shifts in the driver's seat, pulling one leg up onto the fabric, and turns to look at you with a slow, dry smirk.
"Alright, spit it out," Kelly says, leaning a temple against the window glass. They tap their fingers lazily against the steering wheel. "You've been radiating 'existential crisis' energy since I picked you up, and honestly, it’s ruining the vibe of my stolen french fries."
Kelly reaches into the paper bag sitting between you two, tosses a perfectly salted fry into their mouth, and raises an eyebrow, waiting. "Did you do something stupid again, or are we just staring into the void tonight? Because if it's the second one, I need to adjust my seat back."
